It's Official...IT'S PALIN

Obama worked for one year in the Senate before beginning to campaign full-time. One year plus his time in the State Senate. I think the Dems lose if they bring experience into the discussion.

I think the Republicans lose if they bring experience to the discussion, which they've already done. Mayor of a small town, governor of a small state (population-wise) for less than two years, and a heartbeat away from the White House. She's a big question mark at the moment, on the whole, and it's that sort of question mark that the McCain campaign is trying to use against Obama. As if McCain has been consistent or something.

She is prolife, gov. from Alaska, elected in 2006

"The logic behind her as a running mate seems to be that she's a youthful, likeable outsider who would help John McCain attract female voters (she's due to give birth to her fifth child in May).

But really, John McCain is going to pick someone who has presided over a state of 683,000 people for a mere 16 months as the potential leader of the world's lone superpower." End of Quote.

She is very inexperienced, compared to others he was vetting. Was she chosen for her experience, or because she is a women?

Congratulations, you found another sexist that agrees with you!

So you're a fiscal conservative and pro-choice...tell me, what exactly do you like about Palin again?

Well, from what I know at the moment, she supports the 2nd amendment, she has been a very successful governor. She was elected as a female governor in a state that has a better than 2 to 1 male population. She is for Drilling for Oil, but is also an ardent evironmentalist, she understands you can do both.

Those are the things that I know that I like so far. I am sure there will be more, and I am sure there will be things that I dislike about her as well.

Having said that, the choice of a VP has not once, ever, effected my decision about who to vote for for President. I don't vote a ticket, I vote for a President, since I had no say in the VP choice in regards to that choice anyway.

Now things that I like about McCain Picking her. See all of the above. She is the only one of the 4 that is truely not a Washington insider, she is young, she is a woman, she has strenght in her beliefs and ideas, and is willing to walk her talk. I am sure as I learn more about her, there will be other things I like and other things that I dislike as well.

The pick is a definite all or nothing for ol' Maverick...

Many right wing pundits have excoriated her for her windfall profits tax on Alaskan oil companies that redistributed wealth to the citizens of Alaska as a reason against Obama's windfall profits taxes. I don't know why this pick is so exiting. Once fiscal conservatives get to know her, I have a feeling a number of the GOP faithful might not be so enchanted...

Stay off the left wing loon web sites with putrid drivel like that. The money the citizens get from Alaska oil is not "windfall profits" it is royalties and it has been done for decades. They get the check wethere there is a huge profit or a little profit on the oil for that year.

This is a funny day! I have not seen the Obamabots is such a hissy fit since the Brittany Spears add....btw the way, the guy that designed the "greek temple" also does Britany Spears shows. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!

Nice try, but she has a proven track record of accomplishments, unlike Obama.

Would you please elaborate on her accomplishments? ... all I have seen and heard so far is that she's been Governor of Alaska for 18 months ... before that she was Mayor of a town of 8000 people ... she is currently under State investigation ... and she was the runner up in the 1984 Miss Alaska Pageant ... :scratchin

Regarding experience, which carries more weight:

Obama has seven years in the Illinois Senate, and three in the US Senate.

Palin has four years on a town council, was town mayor, and now governor of Alaska for two years.

I can't find anywhere the exact number of years she was mayor.

The problem is they're not running for the same office.

I cannot believe how some people will vote based solely on Roe Vs Wade. In the whole grand scheme of things, with the economy and a war, that is the biggest concern? Gas prices are $3.50 a gallon, but you are concerned that a woman, who can't even choose supreme court justices because she would be the vp and not president, is pro-life?

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

It appears that you think you might change people's minds, but I can assure you, if people made their minds up when I did (when it was clear it was McCain/Obama), you won't change their minds now.

Actually Maverick is a very fitting name for McCain right now. The way he just trumped Obama is classic. Here's Obama trying to enjoy the day after the biggest night in his life, and what happens - BAM, he get's knocked off the front page by this move.
Obama also got trumped in the "change" department as well. BO keeps pushing over and over that he's different (none of the Republicans ever bring that up, just Obama himself), and that that alone is a good enough reason to vote for him - a change. Well guess what, Palin is different too. So now Obama can't even use the difference card anymore.
Then we have the "younger" approach. Obama's camp keeps trying to say that one of the best things about him is that he's young and full of new ideas - Now McCain has someone on his ticket who is younger and so logic would have it has just as many (if not more) new ideas.

Wow, this pick by McCain was incredible. Not to mention that Palin will help ensure the more conservative side of the Republicans.
Great news today. :thumbsup2

I was a Hillary supporter, but in this election, I proudly will be pulling the lever for McCain/Palin! :thumbsup2

The problem is they're not running for the same office.

Gee, I must have missed that.

Seriously, McCain's the old dude - heartbeat away and all that.

Both sides are throwing around the "inexperience" line, and I want to know how it's measured to serve on the national stage. (Maybe I want to run too!)

Executive experience carries more weight. There are now two tickets for the presidency, and one of those tickets has executive experience on it.
