We kinda got lost tonight (just me and my kids).:o I have a horrible sense of direction (and I'm the type that refuses to stop to ask for directions, I'd rather get myself even more tangled up in getting lost than to stop and ask;) ). I know at one point, I told myself "Well, I have a full tank of gas. I'll either find a way to go home or I'll be headed for Timbuktu. No need to tell the kids we're lost." Well, evidentally I said that last sentence outloud. My ds started laughing in that mean little 6 yo mama's boy way he has;) (his laugh makes me laugh:) ). My dd yelled "NOT AGAIN!" My ds, decided he would just get comfy and enjoy the ride.;) After about 5 minutes, I realized where we were at, so we were ok. I forgot to tell the kids though.:o We were within 5 miles of home and my dd still had no clue where we were. Given, it was dark by then, but still! She's traveled on that same road for 9 1/2 years! When we passed the local video store, she was happy she knew where she was.;) She has my sense of direction. It was another bonding moment for us.:teeth:

Shannon,
Since my sense of direction is as poor as yours, I must woefully cancel our upcoming scheduled "Thelma & Louis" Roadtrip.....:(
Pam

But Pam! I've almost got our Thelma and Louise outfits done.:(

I don't know where I'm going, but I sure know where I've been.;)

Well, Shannon, you've intrigued me!:earsgirl:

Describe my outfit - and also what car we will be driving - and I may reconsider!

My sister has a horrible sense of direction, and she's very unobservant. I'd start planning to get your DD a cell phone for when she starts driving now. With my sister, we had to tell her how to get where she was going every time she left the house when she started driving. We lived in a tiny town with 3 roads leading to other towns, so you'd think she'd remember which one went where, but she never did.

Its scary every time my 16 yr old son leaves the house, because we never know if he'll remember how to get home! He was late one day to meet the wrestling team at the field house (they drove their cars from the high school to the field house to set up for a tournament) he showed up about 15 minutes after everyone else did and the coach was yelling at him thinking he'd stopped and gotten a coke or something, and when the coach finally quit yelling Brandon said...coach I was lost! Granted the field house is across town, but STILL....he's been there a hundred times!!! The coach just sighed (again) and shook his head! :p

Pam, think shiny (in both the outfits and the car;) ).

Amy, I was panicky for a couple of minutes last night. Then I remembered I have a cell phone.:o The only problem where we live, is the cell phones don't have service everywhere (I can't even call out in my own home:(, I have to go 1/2 mile up the road to use it-we live in a rural area).

Michelle, I think your ds is kin to me somehow.:o:teeth: My brothers have the same direction problem I do.:o

cris can't find his way home half of the time. You two would get along lol

I am the directions queen.. I can usually figure out where I am going pretty quickly..

My DH well, he's the one who likes to get lost/do "long" ways..

His excuse "I don't drive, I take public transporation"

:teeth: No wonder you like me so much, Uncle Tony. I remind you of Chris.:teeth: I bet I'm meaner though.;)

Cindy, my biggest problem is trying to find a short cut.:o My short cuts usually add about 5 times the amount of driving time the regular way would have (due to getting lost).:o

I had a classic example of being lost on Friday.. in the pouring rain, one way streets in Center City Philadelphia, rush hour traffic, .. and it was DARK!!!!

Those are the times when I hate being lost.

Shannon, if your daughter had a Christmas tree she might be able to find her way home.... ;)

My sense of direction is as bad as yours. I can find anything as long as I have a map but winging it is scary stuff!

Missy, my mom gave her a ceramic one last night.;) We still got lost.:teeth:

I can read a map, but I can't tell you road names I'm familiar with (or should be familiar with).:o

:D MY SO (and his mother and older brother) all have the worst sense of direction. When we moved up here to Indy, SO left a few months before me because I was finishing up a semester. There is this road that circles the entire Indianapolis area. He would call me every night and in the mornings too, to ask if he needed to go east or west on 465 to get to and from work. We have some friends who live on the far southwest end, while we live in the more central north end. Going to their house was always a treat. They found his lack of directions so funny that they bought him a little compass to put in his car. Not that this would help, because he never knows what direction he is facing. (we are still working on left and right as well  ;) ).

I can go someplace one time and know where to go. I also have a really good sense of directions and generally know how to get places even in areas I have never been before!

Awww, that's a cute story...I think one day she too will carry the proud heritage of having "some 'splainin' to do"!!!:):)

How 'bout Mother/Daughter GPSs for the Holidays?;)

I hope thoe GPS's have directions on what to do if we lose them.:o

Disney, the good thing about 465 is that you can always go back where you started without getting off the road. :teeth:

I'm usually good with directions, but that last trip to chicago though. I think I got lost walking out of my hotel room. :teeth:

Shannon, :D
