Its National Donut Day. Whats your favorite donut?

Just got back from Dunkin' Donuts!!

DH got a jelly-filled. I got a chocolate-cream filled. (YUM!) DD got a lemonade donut. Older DS got a chocolate-glazed, & younger DS got a sugar donut.

And, we got a dozen donuts to go... ;)

Argh! Here I am trying to motivate myself to count WW points again and I see this thread. :p

My favs are chocolate frosted Bavarian cream, raspberry filled or plain glazed.

If you're ever in Southern NJ head over to Century Bakery in Bridgeton...they make THE BEST fried donuts (dough spread with cinnamon, sugar, butter I believe and wrapped jelly roll style, cut then fried and then iced)...never found anything like them anywhere else...topped with your favorite icing (chocolate for me!)...puts DD and other chains to shame! Thanks Century!!:yay:

Apparently, on Kelly Ripa's youngest son's school route there is a Bakery with a cross between a Donut and a Crousant.

This is where it gets interesting though. They have line ups out front down the street to purchase. As they sell for $5. Each must be good! The line up however is because they blackmarket for $30. Each!!!

The Bakery has made a 6 limit purchase, Wow!

Dunkin Donuts Jelly Donuts!!!!

I just stopped and got a box of munchkins. (I know the donuts were free, but only if you bought a beverage. I didn't need a beverage.)

Nothing better than fresh glazed donut right off the conveyor belt at a Krispy Kreme store.

Took the kids in to Krispy Kreme for our free doughnut today! And I had a coupon for a free Key Lime doughnut to try. So we got 5 free doughnuts! (3 kids plus myself and our free doughnut) Sent a photo to our DS who was not with us of what he missed. hehehehe

However, the hands down best doughnut I have had is from Tatonut doughnuts in Ocean Springs, MS. Melt in your mouth to die for. Made with potato flakes. I love their persians or their glazed twists. We'll make it over to TatoNuts this summer (about 20 miles away), but today KK was on our errand route.

We have a Dunkin Doughnuts here, but you know that was the first doughnut I ever threw away. Not a fan.

How funny, and I can't eat Krispy Kreme! They're simply too sweet for me. I've tried them a few times, and have thrown them out every time.

That's ok. You can have my Dunkin' Doughnuts if I can have your Krispy Kremes. :thumbsup2 The one DD I had was a cakey doughnut and I just don't like the cakey doughnuts. The key lime one from KK was cakey with lime flavoring and a whipped topping on top. We shared it, but one bite was enough for me.

No calorie counting here today  as we enjoyed a trip to Dunkin Donuts. DH is a Blueberry type man, but today he chose Chocolate Chocolate and I had a Boston Cream :goodvibes. We enjoy going to a local Pumpkin farm in the fall where they make fresh Apple Cider & Pumpkin donuts that also rank at the top! :flower3:

Part of it may be regional tastes as well. The two Krispy Kremes that opened near here both closed.

Fresh whipped cream inside a delicious donut pastry topped with a sweet chocolate glaze.

We called them whipped cream donuts as kids. And no it was NOT angel cream. It was fresh whipped cream. Soooo good. I cannot find anyone else that makes them.

That being said, since I can't have that now, my favorite is probably jelly.

Apple Uglies, Orange Blossom Bakery, Buxton, NC, Hatteras Island

We have DD around here. Blueberry cake, French Crueller and chocolate cake are my faves. Occasionally, they have a chocolate cream filled donut covered with powdered sugar that I like. But sometimes it's just too sweet.

Our local grocery store makes an awesome chocolate covered yeast donut and once in a blue moon will have the chocolate covered French Crueller that are so yummy.

And one of these days I would LOVE to try the maple/bacon. MMMMMMM

Coconut Cream from Sweetwater's Donut Mill.

Battle Creek or Kalamazoo? I used to live in BC, and it was dangerous having Sweetwater's just down Capital Ave. from my house. Too many choices. Couldn't buy just one...

I don't eat donuts anymore or anything with processed flour/sugar but when I did my favorite was Dunkin Donuts glazed chocolate cake ones.
