It's kind of fun to do the impossible - Disney with a 1 month old *new 2/13/15*

Sorry I went a bit MIA! Your pick a pearl sounds like so much fun - nice that Olivia and Judi got some beautiful jewelry. Such an adorable Snow White meet, i love the gif you put together of the twirling!!

And awesome dinner at the Garden Grill - we had SUCH a fun time there in June, right Dugette?? Those hard boiled eggs bring back fond memories. I had two platefuls of mashed potatoes, too! YUM. I never was able to get a ressie for August and didn't have a chance to make one in October either, so super bummed about that - we made reservations for May at least!

Anyway............awesome ending!! WOW! Catching so many nighttime shows, that is just amazing luck. Gotta love some disney magic. I wish those Frozen fireworks were something they kept, that was so so cool seeing them.

I think we can all forgive you for your house almost falling down.

Big Hero 6 <3

Garden Grill is a place I really want to try and getting to look out at The Land is super cool!

Mmm that food looks good. I'm sold. Garden Grill is now further up my list.

IllumiNations gives just as many feels as Wishes :p

Look at you, seeing all sorts of fireworks and the electrical water pageant. That's a big accomplishment.

Already the last day? :(

The pick a pearl was a lot of fun and it does make a nice souvenir - definitely something to think of for Aria when she is a little older

I can see you and Dugette and the girls having a nice time at Garden Grill - hope you can get in there for your May trip :goodvibes

Definitely worked out better than I expected getting to see all the shows. I agree - especially with all the stuff they are closing at DHS - keeping the fireworks would be nice.

Glad you enjoyed Big Hero 6 - I loved it ... Olivia didn't so much but I bet if she watched it more she would like it more (she didn't like Frozen the first time she saw it either)

Definitely consider Garden Grill for the future - I think you would like it! And getting to spin over The Land and meet Farmer Mickey ... pretty good time

While there is something to watching Wishes over Cinderella's while standing on Main St. - on a "neutral field" I would stack up Illuminations against anything.

I know - only one more day!

Part 31 - Putting MDE to the test

Well, I think I'll start off this update with a slightly more positive "real life" update. Last Sunday took the kids to see Disney on Ice presents Frozen ... though it should have been called:
FROZEN ON ICE with every other Disney character ever for like 2 minutes

I thought the show was pretty good and very good production values - can also see them using this a bit as a test for some of the sets and how they stage things for when Frozen gets to Broadway

Was a crazy scene with the crowds though - there were 3 showings that day and as we entered the parking lot there were signs indicating all shows sold out and to not even enter if you don't have a ticket. And so. many. Elsa. dresses. Olivia was in her glory though and was just bouncing with happiness .... or perhaps sugar form the snow cone and the cotton candy.

Only negative was I had brought 2 glow wants from Target to use instead of having to buy light up toys - but one of them didn't work so of course the kids had to argue/fight over that one. Oh well - developed into a lesson in sharing as well so I can consider the trip educational.

I took some video so feel free to enjoy the following gifs:

********************

We awoke to a pretty good view from bed this morning:

2jgr_01e_udpu1.jpg

On the flip side, it was already our last day - meaning that was the last time we would be awaking to said view.

tumblr_lj9qyqQmQB1qixleeo1_500.gif

For those that read the pre-trip report know that we were originally only going to go to the parks 4 days but then undercover tourist had a deal where you got a free 5th day with a 4 day ticket - so this became a totally bonus day where we would try to cover anything we missed earlier at Magic Kingdom.

First, we were trying to decide how we wanted to play this day - how early we wanted to get to the park vs. having to check out, etc. Ultimately we decided to pack up and check out and then get to the park a little later, and stay until the Festival of Fantasy parade and then head out after that. So I started carrying bags down to the car as they were packed - only to get to the car and realize I didn't have the key

funny-gif-owl-Disney-facepalm.gif

So I had to carry the bags back up to the room to get the key, and then head back again. A few more trips later (and after quite a bit of sweating) the car was packed and we were checkked out. Bye-bye Contemporary - it was fun!

We had made some FP+ ... had had Anna & Elsa for 6pm (this was if I couldn't get the times on Wednesday morning to overlap) and we had the Mine Train and we had Enchanted Tales with Belle. But we decided to make some changes.

We canceled Anna & Elsa as we saw them on Wednesday and figured it would probably make someone's day to see a FP+ become available and we canceled Mine Train as we had our rider swaps from Wednesday that were still good. Then Olivia decided, just like last trip, she didn't want to do enchanted Tales with Belle (I swear, I will get to see the mirror effect some day). Eventually we settled on booking meets with Tinkerbell, Ariel, and a ride on Space Mountain.

We took the monorail over (while we can) and pretty much right away had our FP+ for Tinkerbell. I don't think Tink is the kids favorite character or show or anything, but we had a really fun meet & greet with her! She also paid attention to the newest "Fairy" - Emma!

After that meet we headed down Main St. - though I paused to get the required baloon picture:

We then hung a right into Tomorrowland. The wait wasn't too bad, so while Judi took some time to change and nurse Emma, I took Peter and Olivia on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.

This was pretty much Peter's view - he was in charge of spinning the car. He definitely put the "spin" in "Space Ranger Spin":

as the ride photo shows he didn't really have the best view when developing his strategy around when to spin us:

Considering Peter's role, I think my score wasn't too bad - though, to be fair, I got a fairly lucky 100k shot in during one of Peter's wild spins:

While it was a fun ride, I still felt the kids need a time out with Zurg. Peter's didn't quite get the concept of "look scared":

Next, was our FP+ for Space Mountain. I first went with Olivia, for whom, at this point, the big roller coasters are no big deal:

While we were doing this Judi took Peter to meet Buzz. We weren't sure how he would do with this as he was really nervous about meets our trip 9 months previously and wasn't really into Toy Story ... but it turned out great! he had a great time and now is really into Woody and Buzz. They had a fun bit where they kept switching between giving knuckles and high fives and ended up with Buzz kinda enveloping Peter's hand and then wiggling his fingers - was very cute:

Then we switched and while Judi rode Space Mountain, I took the kids on the People Mover - and then she joined us for another spin.

Olivia enjoyed waving at everyone:

One picture I really wanted to get was a view of the Contemporary from inside the Magic Kingdom - this is about the best shot I got:

Definitely glad to get a few trips on this ride as it was closed for refurb our last visit ... and I like the orange/red paint a lot more in person than I did in pictures.

Coming up next, back to main street.

I can't believe it's the last day already!! :sad1:

Cute meets with Tink & Buzz. Olivia looks like she is having way too much fun on Space Mountain! I think it will be awhile before we get Paxton on that one.

frozen on ice and crew looks cute! we were going to go, but decided to avoid the crazy crowds this time.

last day of that view......boo! I hope we stay at the contemporary some day.

love the picture of peter on buzz lightyear! he'd probably help my score on there since I can never tell where i'm aiming anyway! and his meet with buzz was so cute! love the thumbs up picture.

the space mountain picture is too funny!

ARGH why can't Disney on Ice come here???? So depressing.

I guess the lessoned learned is... ALWAYS buy extra glow wands. :thumbsup2

You know, that view is not so bad.

Oh wow, I bet you made a couple of people very happy (or one EXTREMELY happy) by cancelling the 2 most desired FP's in all of Disney.

I always enjoy meeting Tink. She does look a little un-Tink like in the second photo. I understand given the circumstances, but she just appears more model than Tink. Maybe it's just me, lol.

OK. That is FREAKING AWESOME that Olivia nailed the SM photo spot. Well done!!! :dance3:

Looks like a nice way to start off a bonus day. :goodvibes

Ugh, last days are terrible. But I guess in the end you can't complain when you're rewarded with some extra MK time. :thumbsup2

Love the Space Mtn ride photo. You've taught Olivia well on the fine art of ride pictures. :rotfl2:
And Peter's head just barely sticking out in Buzz's Space Ranger Spin had me giggling.

I can see how Buzz could take some time to warm up to. He is pretty big and clunky.

Nice video of Frozen on Ice.

Boo for last days. And double boo for forgetting the car key and having to go al the way back to the room with the luggage.

Great pics with Tinker Bell.

Love the photo on Splash Mountain....I love how Olivia knows when the photo is being taken and her pose.

What great pictures of Peter with Buzz...glad it all worked out.

I love the People Mover and how sweet Olivia is waving to everyone.

That picture of Olivia on Space Mountain is so cute!

Glad Peter enjoyed meeting Buzz-my father and I actually met him last April and it was my favorite character interaction of the trip! I'm a huge Buzz Lightyear fan so meeting him was like "DAD IT'S BUZZ LIGHTYEAR GET IN LINE NOW."

So sad it's your last Disney day!:sad:

I know! It does seem like you go from your first day and feeling on such a high about that to the last day really fast!

It was fun this trip to see the kids more into the M&Gs, especially Peter. We were worried about how the one with Buzz would go and it turned out to be one of the best!

Not sure if i would say Olivia really loved Space Mountain, but she liked it a lot more than Everest, that is for sure :rotfl:

The crowds were a little nuts for Frozen on Ice. Plus we saw it in the Nassau Colliseum which is pretty out dated - that is, there were like 2 women's bathrooms in the entire structure and the lines for it for Judi and Olivia were crazy long. But ultimately we really enjoyed the show and since this year they are not doing the production of the Nutcracker that Olivia was in last year this was kinda the kids show event for the holiday season.

It was fun to go with both kids on Buzz and while Peter was a little disappointed he didn't get his own gun he liked that he got to do something - even if I had to "help" at times

That ride photo from Space Mountain is one of my favorite from the trip :thumbsup2

I mean, one would think there is already plenty of ice up by you Rob that it would be relatively easy for Disney to bring the show there ;)

I definitely learned to either a) bring more glow wands, 2) check them first before mentioning to the kids that I have them, or iii) both

yeah, the view from the room/the bed really was at least acceptable :lmao:

definitely a fun meet with Tink - must be a bit of a tough gig as you have to act so energetic the whole time. The kids had fun though. I get what you are saying about the picture though - she was definitely more "Tink like" throughout most of the meet though, so I think more just that pose for that picture.

Olivia definitely got into the ride photos and was asking me where the camera was and stuff and I told her at the beginning so basically as soon as she got into the car she made that face and held it until the top of the initial hill :rotfl2:

Twas a good start to the day - the whole day turned out definitely not like we planned initially but still a lot of fun :thumbsup2

as last days go, since this was kind of a bonus day to what was really a bonus trip, it was much easier than others - though having to check out of the Contemporary knowing we may never get to stay there again was a bit tough.

I put Olivia though some very strict Ride Photo Training :rotfl: She loves things like that, especially as it seems like something "big kids" do.

I do love that ride photo from Buzz as well - he's such a shorty :rotfl2:

We were definitely worried about how Peter would do with Buzz, but he went right over with only minimal encouragement and had a nice meet with him, so definitely glad that worked out while Olivia and I were on Space Mountain :goodvibes

The car key scenario was more frustration and me just being mad at myself. Especially at that point we were trying to hustle to get to the first FP+ time we had (though we wound up changing things anyway so that part didn't really matter)

We had a lot of fun with Tink - that was the first time we had met her so I am glad it went well.

Olivia was very focused on knowing where the camera was and to make the face - she was practicing in line and stuff. I was afraid her face would stay that way ;)

I was definitely glad and a bit pleasantly surprised how well the meet with Buzz went. :goodvibes

Very happy we got in a few spins on the People Mover and that the kids enjoyed it so much (though they got a little scared at the dark part when you are in Space Mountain (which I do have to admit seemed longer and darker than I remember :confused3))

So sad it's your last Disney day!:sad:

Thank you! That is one of my favorites for the trip and I think is still my Facebook image.

Aw, glad you had such a good meet with Buzz. I think with the fur characters it can be a bit hit or miss since harder for them to interact but that was definitely a good one for us! :thumbsup2

I know! Those last days sneak up on you!

What a cute picture of Olivia waving from the Blue Line! How cute! And Peter looks like he is having a great time with Buzz!

Yay for a free 5th day! Gotta love that! I am sure leaving the Contemporary was hard, but how convenient for that last day at the MK.

Switching around your FPs definitely worked well for your last day.

The Disney on Ice show looks like it was a lot of fun!

Sounds like a wonderful last day so far!! Seems like between FP & choosing short wait rides that you were already able to do a lot without running around. Very nice! Love the Tink & Buzz meets too.

It can't be the last day already!!

WAA- WAA- That picture of poor Alice crying is great.... Well, not great because she is crying, but you know what I mean...

Check-out day is always SOO sad for me.. I have been known to cry and say " We are leaving the happiest place on earth to go back to the saddest place on earth" # exaggeration

but it is best when you can head to the parks for a little bit more magic before you go. :)

Oh my, so sorry to hear about your house! Glad it's been taken care of though.

Garden Grill always sounds so good, it's definitely on my wish list. Glad it was such a good night for you all, especially seeing all those nighttime shows!

Last day :( :( But sounds like so far it was a fun one!

I think overall we were fairly efficient this day as we had covered Adventureland pretty well the first day, today was mostly Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Liberty Square

Definitely had some good meets throughout the trip!

Well, hopefully that is a bit of an exaggeration, but yes it is always sad when it hits you that you are about to leave the Disney bubble. We normally don't do a park day on check-out day so this was a nice change for us :goodvibes

Last day :( :( But sounds like so far it was a fun one!

House is coming along - got drywall up and (hopefully) the painting is getting done today.

Hope you get to Garden Grill some day - we definitely enjoyed it, probably more than I was expecting (at least food wise, I had high hopes for the view and it delivered on that)

Definitely was a fun day - for the most part ... but getting a bit ahead of myself there ;)

Frozen on ice looks fun! We have tickets for when it comes here in Feb.! We are really excited!

Last day  it is so hard to leave! I bet some family was pretty excited to get an Anna and a Elsa FP+! Love the people mover, last trip was my first time on and it defiantly became one of my favs!

Hope you enjoy the show! I was pretty impressed by the production and how they set everything up

While it might not seem impressive from the outside, the People Mover really is a great attraction and a wonderful way to see a lot of Tomorrowland

I just caught up on your trip report, I'm so impressed how much you guys managed to do with 3 little kids, major props!

You're kids are just too cute.

I'm loving all the food pictures, I cannot wait to get back to all that Disney food, and drink. DBF will definitely be judging how much i consume and I don't even care :rotfl:
