It's Going To Be A Jolly Olly Holiday In Disney PTR I've got one foot out the door!!

Aww.....my heart just broke hearing he cried when he saw her

No kid should feel like that.

I Really think he needs to be moved into another class.

I have to laugh at the milk thing.

We were buying so much milk last year....We would buy a gallon a milk every 3 days I think. SO as it got closer to Disney, I Began counting how long til Disney by how many more gallons of milk we had to buy :lmao:

I went to the grocery store this morning. Not my favorite thing to do...but has to be done! Anyway, I got milk...as I always do. The experation date said November 1. Do you know how excited I was to see November 1 fro that date??!! I twisted that into "if my milk were to expire today, I would be leaving for Disney in one month!" So, I stood in the dairy section of the grocery store daydreaming about WDW!!! Is that weird? Do any of you do that? It isn't the first time that I have judged the closeness of something by the expiration date on my milk. As i type this, I think "wow...that's a little odd!" Anyway, whatever gets us through, right?! So, I am going to leave you with that happy thought of all of our trips coming closer!
:rotfl: For me, it's not milk. It's the the dates on the schedule at work. My boss usually does the schedule 4-6 weeks in advance. When the schedule for the week containing the first few days of November came out earlier this month, I was pretty much OMGOMGOMG. Because November means one more month until Disney World! And as soon as she puts out the schedule through the first of December, even though it will be a month away, being able to look at my work schedule, see our Disney dates on it, and "Leave" next to my name... it all just makes me verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry giddy because it's one of the few times that I feel like it's actually getting close! :goodvibes

Hey! Where ya been???

Thanks! We are hopefully on the road to better things in school!

Thanks a bunch! Mmmmm! I can tell you right now that Akershus is great! We have done it several times before and really loiked it! You get your photo taken with Belle before sitting down to eat. Last time we were in WDW for the holidays, we ate breakfast there on Christmas morning and she had her Christmas dress on. It was beautiful! I'm hoping she is wearing that again this time!

Hey sweetie  I've been stressing over the ADR's and spending too many hours on the dining system - i'm done now though  You guys now have my full attention :3dglasses

Your post made me laugh because you put 'loiked' and it reminded me of Goofy  Akershus sounds great, I bet belle looked lovely in her dress - you'll have to post the photo for us to nosey at :goodvibes I think i'll put it on our list for a future trip then :thumbsup2

I've just read your post about the reading specialist etc... that teacher makes me so mad!! Her behaviour is so wrong! She is obviously making poor poot scared and upset - that is NOT the way to teach little one's and help them to learn and grow. Not saying hello and sitting there with her arms folded are definate signs that she has got a chip on her shoulder. Yes, if you see the potential in a child you need to coax the best from them, but not scare it out of them!! She should have been there with her arms open to him and encourage him through talking to him and interacting nicely with her body language. If things dont improve honey, seek advice from someone higher than this teacher and tell them exactly what you've told us - this teacher needs sorting out! Her boss needs to know how she's behaving and the fact that she didnt do anything about the neck thing leaves me lost for words - she is meant to be looking after these kids and teaching them right from wrong - not just ignoring everything! I'll get down off my soap box now

Back to disney chatter ... the milk thing made me laugh so much, I've got a vision of you in my head now :lmao: I do crazy things like that too, like if the date is my birthday or something and I think awww thats my birthday

Hello! I just found your PTR and discovered we will be at POR at the same time!! I am going with my family from November 27th-December 7th. I am going with my husband and 2 children. I think your ADRs look great. I got all of the ADRs that I wanted so I am really excited also! We too plan on eating at Donald's Safari Breakfast, 'Ohana dinner and breakfast, Chef Mickey's. 1900 Park Fare breakfast. Completely different times though. I think it is so funny that you look at milk expiration dates also before vacation. I get so excited when my milk expiration is after I leave for vacation! Great PTR! I am thinking about starting one myself. It will be our family's first vacation to WDW (I went when I was five, but have not been since).
Keep the plans coming!pirate:

First of all, you should not feel weird about dreaming of WDW in the dairy section of the grocery store. Doesn't everyone do that? :rolleyes1

Second, as much as I would love to brave the snow and the cold to teach your son, I can't.

Third, I think this teacher is taking her frustrations with you and your husband out on your child. This is never a good thing. No matter how many years you spend as a teacher, you can never let the feelings towards parents cloud your opinions of your students. Not saying hello to Poot in the meeting is really telling. :sad2: Now that you have had the meeting, I would write a very carefully worded letter to the counselor with a carbon copy to the principal stating what you feel was the outcome of the meeting and some of your concerns. To be honest, if it were me, I would ask if there was a grouping committee that you could appeal to and have your son moved. Early childhood years are very important and if a teacher ruins it now, it will be gone forever. I need to say here, that this may be an excellent teacher, I don't know, but even in the best of conditions sometimes people don't like each other (I'm speaking from both sides) and there is nothing that can be done.

About the knowing stuff at home and not at school, though--I see this a lot. The real test to learning something is whether or not the knowledge transfers to another location. Kids can know something at home and not transfer it to another place (environment or subject). Mastery occurs when a child can transfer. I think Poot has come close to mastery of a lot of things, but at the same time is not quite there.

Feel free to email me--I think you have my email address or you can pm me for it. If I can help you write a letter or give you some good websites with materials, I will. One of the best is www.readinga-z.com. The website has hundreds of books and resources. The cost I think is $85 a year, but that cost is well worth it! I've used it in my classroom and with my children.

Erin - gimme the name and number to contact this teacher - I'd like to give her my two cents! pirate: I can not believe Poot had that reaction. Good of you to address it now, and I am glad the guidance counselor was too. P/T Conf sounds like a good plan. What a witch!

Love the bit about the milk!

You want to really scare a teacher? Let me show up as your "educational expert". That pretty much freezes them up and lets them know you mean business. Especially with my title of Amanda __________, Applied Behavior/Low Incidence Disabilities Coordinator--Assistant Coordinator of Special Services for _____________ School District 2. Then they know you mean business, lol. I've done it twice for my sisters-in-law. Once I traveled all the way to Georgia as an educational expert, and the district had to reimburse me for mileage and my daily rate, lol.

Add to it my two specialties--Applied Behavior Analysis and Early Literacy, and you have the winning picture. Maybe I do need to travel to MA.

You could come travel to MA and hang with me, but that wouldn't help Erin & Pooty out much, they're in PA

I agree! I think we will get a lot in that day and still have some down time in the middle! Everyone should be happy! WS is my fav place in WDW! I just love the accents, decor and shops! Notice I said accents...I am a sucker for an accent! And, yes...the next day is early. But, we won't make it too late of a night. It is neat to be there at night. But, remember...we are going in December...it will be dark by 5! LOL Most of our day will be night!

I am a sucker for accents too. I studied aboard when I was a junior in college, 6 months in England. LOL I would strike up conversations with random people just to hear them speak.

I think you will be fine, you'll be running on Disney energy and vacation time, it's all relative!!

Ok guys...here is the update on the little one's school drama!

My heart is breaking!!! Aww, I feel so bad that he is so afraid of that horrid woman. Is there another class for him to go in? Does Poot do a full day or a half day? I know when I was young it was a half day but I think most of the school districts by me have changed it to a full day.

I went to the grocery store this morning. Not my favorite thing to do...but has to be done! Anyway, I got milk...as I always do. The experation date said November 1. LOL Jen and I have the paycheck countdown going!!! I have actually been focusing on Thanksgiving. We're hosting this year, and I was thinking about the left overs and I was saying to myself, I'll have to do something with all that food because we'll be going away 6 days later!!! In my mind Thanksgiving is not that far away and then WDW is right after that!!!!

I am so excited, Thanksgiving feels like it is right around the corner! I can't wait to go to my dad's house and have relatives ask what's new and I can reply - "OH, we're headed to Walt Disney World in 10 days!!!" :rotfl2:

I think that teacher sounds like a total Witch. I hope things get better with that whole situation  I'm sure it must be hard sending him to school every day knowing that he doesn't like that teacher just that much.

As for the milk expiration thing.....I've probably done that myself. I just can't remember. I know when I do my bills I look at the list and think "god I wish I could pay these bills because that would mean my Disney trip is that much closer" (I list my bills by week to pay....)

Remember when I found the December hours a day early and you thought I was an undercover travel agent! All the more fuel for the fire :rotfl2:

Also - quick question - how do I get a link for posts? Like you have done on the first page?
Quick Answer - click on the post number... wow, I surprise myself sometimes! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the well wishes for the teacher issue.

DH told me I was crazy about the milk thing! I told him that I posted something about it and that you guys didn't think it was too crazy. He said that was because we are all nuts on here!!! LOL

That is not odd at all, I do stuff like that all the time!

I just thought I probably looked a bit funny to the other shoppers as I stood there smiling and staring into space! LOL

:rotfl: For me, it's not milk. It's the the dates on the schedule at work. My boss usually does the schedule 4-6 weeks in advance. Woops!! Sometimes my fingers go faster than my brain!! I will definitely put pix up since we talked about all of our ADR's the other night so the fam could have one last chance to make any changes and we are keeping it!

I've just read your post about the reading specialist etc... that teacher makes me so mad!! Her behaviour is so wrong! Yeah, I agree! She is a bit harsh for the age group she is teaching!

Back to disney chatter ... the milk thing made me laugh so much, I've got a vision of you in my head now :lmao: I do crazy things like that too, like if the date is my birthday or something and I think awww thats my birthday

Yeah...I would have given someone a very strange look if I witnessed them doing what I was doing!! LOL

Welcome!!! POR is going to be the hopping place! There are a few others on here that will be there at the same time too! THe meals that you got are great! We have been to most of them before and are heading back! Oh don't worry! When I get milk that has an expiration past the first day of vacation, I will probably do flips in the dairy section! Glad you are getting to go back after so long! A lot has changed! Your kids will love it! Has your DH ever been? You should start a PTR!! Let us all know if you do! We will follow along!

First of all, you should not feel weird about dreaming of WDW in the dairy section of the grocery store. Doesn't everyone do that? :rolleyes1

LOL You guys realy know how to make a girl feel better!!

Second, as much as I would love to brave the snow and the cold to teach your son, I can't.

OK...all is forgiven!

I don't know why she is frustrated with us...other than the fact that we are keeping on top of his situation. But, either way, she is upset about something. I am keeping an open mind about it and giving things until conferneces in November. After that, if nothing has changed, I will see about having him moved.

About the knowing stuff at home and not at school, though--I see this a lot. The real test to learning something is whether or not the knowledge transfers to another location. LOL Settle down there killer!

Thanks! Next time you get milk, you'll think of this now, huh?!

Pass me the number once you've done with it - because i'd like to do the same :furious: :rolleyes1

Woah!!! The lynch mob is out in full force!!!

Your "flaming head" is MUCH better than my pirate!!!

LOL You are better than me!! When I look at the bills, I think "why can't you just go away...don't you know I'd rather spend my money on Disney!!"

LOL Yep!!!! You were every December trip planners hero!!! We should have had a tickertape parade or something for you!!!

So, you answered your own question then??

So, I thought I would share a little non-Disney update...AGAIN! Last weekend we went pumpkin picking. Lulu decided to go to my grandmother's instead of going with us. So, J-Pa , the boys and I headed out to the pumpkin patch. My SIL and BIL came with us and brought our nephew (the one I watch every day) for his first pumpkin picking experience. Since he is at our house Monday thru Friday, it is almost like he is another one of our own.

So, we all met up and DBIL says that the baby is fussy and doesn't feel well. Well, we got him out into the fresh air and...you'd never know he was cranky!

pumpkinpicking023.jpg

While Kayden played in the pumpkins, Poot and Gwad were searching for the perfect pumpkin. Gwad seemed to find his fairly quickly and carried it around with him so he didn't lose it! Poot on the other hand, took FOREVER! No matter which one I suggested, it wasn't meeting his standards! Finally after much searching, he found THE ONE!

pumpkinpicking025.jpg

pumpkinpicking027.jpg

I then set the three boys up to take some photos together.

pumpkinpicking028.jpg

pumpkinpicking029.jpg

Now that the boys had their pumpkins, we had to pick one for Lulu and a spare for the house (you can never have enough seeds)! I was holding Lulu's pumpkin, so I couldn't pick ours up. I was trying to point out to J-Pa which pumpkin I wanted. Well, I nodded towards one (keep in mind we are in a big patch) and said "that orange one." LOL Yep...that was not my most intelligent moment ever! He of course reminds me that orange was a pretty common color of pumpkins! Well, after that little laugh, we were off to the pay station. And, $30 later, we had our pumpkins in our car.

We then drove down to where these same people have a little produce market. It is right down the road. They offer a lot. We usually do apple picking when we go pumpkin picking, but frost hurt their apple crop this year. Thus, no apple picking. Anyway, they have the BEST apple cider, so we got some of that, homemade jam and some candy apples. It was a nice day. I love being outside in the crisp fall air. I think it looks pretty, smells great and is a perfect temperature normally.

Before we left, we took a few more pictures in a cute little area they had set up.

Aww the Pumpkin Patch update and pictures were great! My favorite is the one toward the end of Poot sitting on the pumpkins, with you standing over him. LOVE it!!!
