It's Going To Be A Jolly Olly Holiday In Disney PTR I've got one foot out the door!!

Had to look to see where you lived when u said SNOW

:scared1:

LOL Yeah...freak storm! It started out as flurries, then was to be an inch now we are supposed to get 7 inches!!!! AHHHHH! I told DH that this is why I have to go to Disney so much...because he makes me live in the snow in mid-October!! LOL The same thing happened last year...only we got 20 inches then!!! It will all be gone next week...back to the 60's. But, fortoday it is a bit unwelcomed! No snow for you?? I haven't talked to my in-laws...they are in south Jersey too. (Well I guess it's south...near Sandy Hook...Atlantic Highlands)

that is some good news to hear!!!

Let us know how the testing goes!! One of my little girls missed the K deadline this year by 2 months or so but were willing to test her into K and she should be in K based on the level she is at now and when she went with her dad to the test she refused to take it because they wanted her in the room with her and a specialist she had never met and for her dad to wait outside. Needless to say she is in pre-k with me another year before K even though she is more than ready for K. I think sometimes having a parent there as comfort is a great idea and should be considered more!

Thanks! I will let you know for sure! I think it is a comfort factor, however he does need to understand that I can't always be everywhere with him. There has got to be some sort of solution out there!

WHAT THE WHAT?!?!?!

A snow day? AHHHH :scared1: It's barely October!

SNOW!? Way too early I think. But in my opinion, I don't think PA had much of a summer at all this year, we had like 2 weeks of hot weather, it wasn't even 2 weeks together, it would be a day here or there. I like snow on Christmas Day and then I am done with it.

I got so far behindon your PTR. Anyway, sorry to hear all that Poot has been through. I think you are doing a great job staying on top of it and keeping communication open with his teacher. It's a shame his first year had to go like this. I hope it gets better for him.

Yeah...I hear ya!!! They did end up having school. We only got like 5 inches, but it is still slowly coming down. Luckily it is supposed to be back in the 60's next week!!! If I really have to deal with snow...why can't it at least be like December 1st?? ;) (Then at least I'll be packing to leave for Disney the next day!!!)

I know!!! Where abouts is your town located? You are right...not much of a summer! We had a ton of rain! I usually like the first snowfall...just not in October!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Ty! I had the meeting this morning. I'll update everyone later on what happened. I want to take a Disney timeout and think about fun Disney stuff for a bit!!!

OK guys! After all of the stress from this week I am finally ready to post day 3 plans that are actually for our second park day! I want to thank everyone for their comments and encouragement regarding the school situation. I did have the meeting this morning and will update you all later on how things went. For now, though I want to get back to happy Disney thoughts!!!

So, here goes:

I will get up by 6:30 am and get ready. Everyone else will take about 15 minutes to dress and brush their hair and teeth. The goal is to be at the bus by 7:15 to get to Epcot. That is almost two hours before park opening, but the CM's I spoke with said that there would be buses running just for ADR's. Anyway, get to Epcot and be at Akershus for an 8:15 ADR.

After eating breakfast, we will explore the future world of Epcot until about 1:30. We then have a 2:00 ADR for Biergarten. Since this is also buffet style and there are no characters, we should be able to get in and out of here in about an hour or so. (As long as we are seated fairly promptly.)

When lunch is over, we are going to head back to POR for a break. If the weather is decent, the kids may want to go swimming. Or, we can explore the resort, take a nap or rent the surrey bikes. I know the boys would like to go to the arcade at some point, also.

I'd like to leave there around 6 and go see the Boardwalk area for a bit. But, if everyone just feels like sitting around a bit longer, we will skip that. After either the Boardwalk or relaxing a bit longer, we will be back in Epcot for our 8:00 ADR at The Garden Grill. (I love this restaurant!) This day is going to have us stuffed full of food! I am hoping it will all work out. The good thing is that they are all family style or buffet and we don't have to take more than we are hungry for!

After the yummy Garden Grill, we will finish the night out at Epcot for their evening EMH's. I think we will probably do World Showcase this time. (That will be a nice walk to burn off some of those calories we ate all day!!)

So, tell me what you all think! Everyone was so helpful last time. Keep in mind that at this point we still have that late ADR the night before! But, we do have a pretty large break time in the middle of the day scheduled. The reason that I have not changed anything yet is that I actually just wanted to get everything up here and get all opinions and then go from there! I may be changing something right up to the last minute!! I know the common idea was to not do the early ADR this day, but there was nothing else available for Akershus that I could do for either of our Epcot days. It isn't that we are super attached to the restaurant, but we do like it. If I do cancel, I have to do it at least 2 days before so they don't charge my card!! Anyway, look it over and let me know please!! Thanks!

I think day three looks great and I wouldn't change a gosh-darn thing!

As I said before, I'm the type of person that likes to get in as much as I possibly can while we're there. I think you'll be okay because you have a nice break in the middle of the day and, as you said, you'll be a 3 buffet's so you can eat as light or as much as you want. My vote is to keep everything the way it is. I love WS, mostly because I have the travel bug and I like to feel like I'm in all those different places. Is your next day an early one? I think you'll be fine! I also love PM EMH, there is something just so cool and magical about being in Disney when it's dark!

looks good to me!! I ate at germany in May and we were given a pager but were seated within a min of being given the pager and it seems it has always been that way when we've eaten there, esp for lunch so I don't think you will have a long wait at all with a 2pm ADR! Eat some pretzel bread for me!!!

After the yummy Garden Grill, we will finish the night out at Epcot for their evening EMH's. I think we will probably do World Showcase this time.
Oh my goodness. You can do WS during evening EMH now?! The last time I was there, in 2006, only FW was open during evening EMH!!!

Oh wow...thank goodness gong back into 60s next week

No snow for us. It was about 40 today and raining. Tomorrow going up into the 50s I believe.

Yeppers, sounds like your in laws live in South Jersey.

I live probably an hr or hr and half North of them, but still in South Jersey :thumbsup2

I think your plans look great.

Plenty of break time and sounds like a lot of good food :woohoo:

Oh, and I totally think that is why Poot is not responding as well to his teacher. If she didn't care about the neck thing, he probably thinks she doesn't care about him. Kids are funny that way. They read a lot into something where IMO, the teacher just didn't want to be bothered. Also, when a while has gone by, it makes no sense to punish a child for wrongdoing when they are that young. She let the ball slip, so to speak, and now she is the one who is going to have to re-earn Poot's trust. And, I totally think you should bring this up at the next conference. Stay calm, but tell the teacher what you think needs to be done. She is going to have to re-earn trust, which is a hard thing to do.

:thumbsup2 to the Day 3 plans. Looks good. I think having the afternoon break fits really nicely with the plans!

:sad2: to snow in the Poconos in October. All I could think of yesterday was - well, here we are again - back to our 8 months of cold, damp, dreary 45 degree weather. I know, I know.... it's a bit pessimistic, but we do have too many of those days straight through from October to May. Uck! At least no snow in delaware!

wowsers, i've missed so much!

I'm so sorry that you have gone through so much trouble with this teacher - its appauling!! I'm truly lost for words and hope that you manage to get things sorted for your little one

Your day 3 sounds great! I love the idea of relaxing in the middle of the day to recharge your batteries :thumbsup2 You'll have to let me know what Akershus is like as i'd been debating about it - so, might do it on a future trip if you give it a good review :goodvibes Garden grill, YAY - cant wait to go there :yay: I'm sure you are going to have lots of fun!!

I think day three looks great and I wouldn't change a gosh-darn thing!

Hey thanks! :thumbsup2 I'm pretty happy with it!

Hi! I saw that you are staying at POR...so are we! We will be there at the same time! Do you have a PTR going?

As I said before, I'm the type of person that likes to get in as much as I possibly can while we're there. I think you'll be okay because you have a nice break in the middle of the day and, as you said, you'll be a 3 buffet's so you can eat as light or as much as you want. I agree! I think we will get a lot in that day and still have some down time in the middle! Everyone should be happy! WS is my fav place in WDW! I just love the accents, decor and shops! Notice I said accents...I am a sucker for an accent! And, yes...the next day is early. But, we won't make it too late of a night. It is neat to be there at night. But, remember...we are going in December...it will be dark by 5! LOL Most of our day will be night!

looks good to me!! I ate at germany in May and we were given a pager but were seated within a min of being given the pager and it seems it has always been that way when we've eaten there, esp for lunch so I don't think you will have a long wait at all with a 2pm ADR! I think last time we ate in Germany we had to wait like 10 minutes...but that was dinner time. So, I'm thinking it won't be too bad! Mmmmm! Pretzel bread! Actually, that is the main reason we are going back! DS asked for the restaurant and said he just wants the bread! LOL

Oh my goodness. You can do WS during evening EMH now?! The last time I was there, in 2006, only FW was open during evening EMH!!!

Ummmm....I was assumming it was?? Maybe not! LOL Guess I should have looked into it a bit further! Well, no problem...we can do WS earlier in the day before our Germany lunch and do FW durng EMH. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh wow...thank goodness gong back into 60s next week

Yep...got more snow today! DS's baseball teams in his league are from NJ (we are the only PA team) and all games for the weekend were cancelled!

I thought it was South Jersey, but it seems like South should be further south! (If that makes sense?)

It is a nice area. They just moved there from Staten Island about 2 months ago.

I think your plans look great.

Plenty of break time and sounds like a lot of good food :woohoo:

Thanks! The food is always a huge bonus for us!!

Yikes! Everybody seems to be getting snow this week, it is way too early!

I know! I can't take it!!!

I'm still running around in sandals and tshirts down here. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Thanks! You know...you don't have to rub it in!!!

She's not the only one. Until today, I was in a tank top and flip flops at home. Today, I pulled out a hoodie for work.

Ok guys....enough of the gloating!!!!!!

I agree and even more so after our meeting. I know that it is too late for the girl to be punished at all for the incident. I think the bigger picture here is the fact that the teacher just dropped the ball. You are right! You want to come be his teacher??!! LOL Just bring your parka!!! Yes...trus is something to be earned on all sides. Earning it is one thing, but having to re-earn it is another.

:thumbsup2 to the Day 3 plans. Looks good. I think having the afternoon break fits really nicely with the plans!

Thanks! I am really happy with this day. The kids will love to get pool time as long as the weather cooperates!

I know! It is wayyyyyy too soon! You know, if I was a skier or snowboarder, I may welcome it, but I am not! I actually can just about see Camelback ski mountain from my house and have been on skis 3 times in my whole life! I want 75 and sunny!

wowsers, i've missed so much!

I'm so sorry that you have gone through so much trouble with this teacher - its appauling!! I'm truly lost for words and hope that you manage to get things sorted for your little one

Hey! Where ya been???

Thanks! We are hopefully on the road to better things in school!

Thanks a bunch! Mmmmm! I can tell you right now that Akershus is great! We have done it several times before and really loiked it! You get your photo taken with Belle before sitting down to eat. Last time we were in WDW for the holidays, we ate breakfast there on Christmas morning and she had her Christmas dress on. It was beautiful! I'm hoping she is wearing that again this time!

Ok guys...here is the update on the little one's school drama!

So, we went into the guidance conference room and Pooty stayed in the counselor's office while we initially spoke with the two teachers and couselor. We again told them all what he was doing at home and how we were just a bit confused as to why he was not performing in the same manner at school. We said that we wanted to work with them and make his experience there successful. The counselor said that she was very happy that I had asked for this meeting and that it was the right thing to do to get this early so it can be corrected and made a positive experience. I was glad we were on the same page. The reading specialist brought samples of his work and of his tests to show me what he was doing in school. There was a definite difference. Again, I didn't understand. Anyway, after discussing the differences and possible reasons for this, we called Poot into the room. The room was set up with a long table and chairs all around it. At the far end was his regular teacher, the counselor was across the table, the specialist was next to me and DH was on my other side on the oposite end from the teacher. I should tell you ahead of time that the teacher had not said hardly anything AT ALL!!! I am not even sure if she said hello when we walked in the door? She had her arms crossed the whole time and only uncrossed them to right notes every now and then. Anyway, back to Poot coming in. He stood between the reading specialist and I. She asked him if maybe he could tell her the names of some letters while I was in there with him. He said yes. So, she got out the stadard sheet that they use for testing. It has the upper and lowercase letters all mixed up on it. She pointed to the first letter. He looked up at the regular teacher and started crying. The poor thing was crying pretty hard and smudging up his glasses. I started crying just from watching him cry and so did the specialist. Now, we all witnessed this. The specialist told me this had never happened before. Well, she did finally get him calmed down. He started doing the letters and did miss 2 uppercase and did miss 3 lowercase, but I feel like that is not too bad since he had been so upset. Either way, something had been bothering him.

After doing the letters, he had to go to class. The teacher also had to go and the counselor had a class to get to. The specialist hung back and talked to DH and I. She explained that she was happy to see the improvement but a bit concerned at his initial reaction. I had said that I was too. I told her that he has said the teacher is grumpy and mean. She was surprised because she said most kids and parents like her. He really likes the specialist, but the regular teacher not so much. I told her that I really feel that the realtionship between the regular teacher and Poot is where the problem lies. All of this took up the time that we had there and we never got to speak to the couselor about the neck thing. So, I am not sure where to go from here with that. We did tell them that we were willing to try to ride things out until conferences on November 20th and see where everything stands at that point. The specialist and counselor said that they would both sit in on that too.

So, after school yesterday afternoon, Poot and I were running some errands and I asked him why he got so upset and was crying in the counselor's office. He said it was just because he was nervous and scared. I asked what there was to be scared of. I said you know mommy and daddy would not get mad if he didn't know an answer and you would not get in trouble. He said he knew that but that it was Mrs. Y that made him nervous. I asked him why. He told me because she gets really mad when she asks him a question in class and he doesn't know the answer right away. So, that my friends is where I am left now! I think she maybe gets frustrated because she thinks he knows things or expects him to. And, he does know most of what she is asking. But, I think she is coming across harsh in his perspective. I am not sure that she is really being very sensitive to his feelings. I am still thinking about where to go with this. But, you were all so helpful and kind when I put it up to begin with, I wanted to let everyone know where we were. And, I should let you know that after leaving, DH said that he felt that the teacher seemed annoyed that she had to be there and that he couldn't even believe that she had nothing to say. Remember when I said I didn't know if she said hello to Dh and I? Well, I know she never said hello to Poot. The specialist did and the counselor did. Her...nothing! We'll see! But, that's it!

On to more positive things (because I don't want this to be a poutfest...it's Disney!)

I went to the grocery store this morning. Not my favorite thing to do...but has to be done! Anyway, I got milk...as I always do. The experation date said November 1. Do you know how excited I was to see November 1 fro that date??!! I twisted that into "if my milk were to expire today, I would be leaving for Disney in one month!" So, I stood in the dairy section of the grocery store daydreaming about WDW!!! Is that weird? Do any of you do that? It isn't the first time that I have judged the closeness of something by the expiration date on my milk. As i type this, I think "wow...that's a little odd!" Anyway, whatever gets us through, right?! So, I am going to leave you with that happy thought of all of our trips coming closer!
