I've just read about Ryan for the first time. My heart goes out to you. Several of the pictures brought tears to my eyes, notably the ones where he is grasping Steph's finger, holding Chris's wedding ring, smiling, the emotional family moment, and of course his precious little feet.

A lot of things go through my head as I think of your family. Having worked at Children's Hospital for a number of years myself I never took for granted the health of my own children (and worried a lot when I was pregnant with my twins since a problem had been identified with one of the babies in utero). Also, having had cancer myself, I consider every single moment I have with my family and loved ones a gift already. Shortly after I was diagnosed I saw a Make A Wish family on our cruise. I'd been distraught with worry up until then, but when I saw them it dawned on me that although I'd prefer that none of us were sick, if it had to be someone, I'd rather have it be me than one of my children (never nice to have to think about things like that). In a strange way it made me less worried about myself; it "put it in perspective" so to speak. But you are ever so right, none of us know what paths our lives can take so it's important to enjoy and appreciate all we have NOW.

Your family will remain in my thoughts today. Thank you for that great website and sharing your story with others, I'm sure it will help many.
