It's ALL about the FOOD! An October 2012 PTR! - Trip Report Started.

I am sure you had an awesome time!!

It was awesome! The time flew by!!

looking forward to hearing about them! hope you had a great time in CO and vegas!

Well they are pretty small changes. I'll share soon though!

Sounds fantastic and delicious!
:dance3:

Thanks!!

Welcome back!

Thank you!

I'm glad to hear that you had a great trip!!!! :goodvibes Can't wait to hear all about it!

It was a great trip. How much so you all want to hear about it!?!?

So I posted I was back but I've been having some issues with adjusting to actually being back to work. I think because I am also now trying to watch my calories better I don't have the energy to stay awake once I get home! I guess its good I am having this problem and not the problem of not getting any sleep! Unfortunately I did something to my ankle while in Vegas and have had some issues with leg swelling so unable to walk for exercise once I am home from work. It is getting better though so hopefully I'll be able to start walking regularly soon!

So... some of the changed I mentioned.

I am thinking we won't be getting to WDW till late on Friday the 12th so that means no F&W Classic that day and we will go to the one on Saturday.

Rumors are going around that Bistro de Paris is going to be closed. Some updates say September, others say October... If it is closed I am considering Le Cellier or Bluezoo. Opinions?

Also torn on 50's Prime Time. Thinking maybe we should try the Brown Derby?

I also made reservations for the Plaza on the night of MNSSHP. I haven't bought tickets yet though.

Since ADR's are made I am actually kinda Blah right now... Can't wait till we get more info on F&W!! I'm hoping once I get that info I will feel more sure of our plans!

Sorry to hear about your ankle and having a hard time adjusting back at work. Hope you can catch up on some sleep soon and start to feel better! :goodvibes

We didn't have a great experience at Le Cellier, but haven't been since it turned to 2TS for dinner. I've heard wonderful things about Bluezoo though.

Brown Derby is one of our favorites, so if you're interested in trying it, I'd say you should definitely do it!

I know what you mean. Don't really have anything to add to my PTR (minus the bonus December trip ) since making my ADR's. Nothing really new to report. I will work on day by day plans though...guess I could start that soon!

That sucks about your ankle, and your work :guilty: But, hopefully you'll be right as rain soon :goodvibes

As to the 50's Prime Time vs The Brown Derby...two completely different types of dining experiences, and both are awesome.

I LOVE the atmosphere at the 50's Prime Time, and while the food is really good, it's not spectacular. They do have the fun PB&J Shake though (I think you can order it even though it's not on the menu), and I definitely would like to go back on a future trip. ::yes::

The Brown Derby, however, has spectacular food. Or at least, it did when I was there last year. Fabulous steak, amazing Cobb Salad, and refreshingly light and tangy grapefruit cake :lovestruc. Everything about the Brown Derby was worth the two dining credits it took, and I would go back in a heartbeat. :thumbsup2

We are re-thinking our ADR at 50's as well. I read in one of my own mini TR's that it was a blah experience for us...who better to trust than ourselves?:lmao: We really love LeCellier, so I vote for there if you need to replace Bistro. We love to eat at The Plaza and DH and I did that last year when we attended MNSSHP. We love that it is a table service, but doesn't take a loooong time to get through. We can sit and relax and have someone serve us, but we don't feel like we are wasting party time waiting to get through the meal....am I making any sense?

I am in a boring holding pattern now too...just waiting for time to pass until our vacation....:rolleyes1

Thanks. I actually caught on my sleep quickly and have not been having any issues with sleeping thankfully.

I really think hubby would like Bluezoo better, except for the fact that it is known as a seafood restaurant and he can't have seafood! :lmao: Plus i already have a reservation at Flying Fish and I don't want seafood overkill for my hubby!

Brown Derby is one of our favorites, so if you're interested in trying it, I'd say you should definitely do it!

Hmmm... I just remember LOVING the fried Chicken at 50's PT but really... you can get fried chicken anywhere right?!!?

I know what you mean. Don't really have anything to add to my PTR (minus the bonus December trip ) since making my ADR's. Nothing really new to report. I will work on day by day plans though...guess I could start that soon!

I've already done my daily plans so ummm... Its just whatever changes I make at this point for updates.

My ankle is doing better. Now its just headaches!!

I'm more going for the spectacular food aspect this trip! Plus I can't have the PB&J shake anyways... that would be dairy overkill for me! I will check in a bit for the Brown Derby availability.

We didn't get any interaction with out server at our first visit to 50's PT and I've heard they are toning down even more so I guess we should go for something different!

The reviews of Le Cellier are so mixed! It makes me wonder which I should do! Via Nappoli has been getting RAVE reviews! ARGHH!! decisions decisions!!!

'Ohana or no 'Ohana?!?!?

Yes... that is the question of the day!

My husband does not traditionally like Brazilian steakhouses as he really can't eat that much meat so he feels its not worthwhile. I could care less about the meat and its just the desert that looks so good to me but I can't have Ice Cream so will it be the same without the ice cream? Is the other food items really that good to make the price worthwhile?

My plan the night I have 'Ohana booked is to have dinner there and then go to the magic Kingdom for Wishes and Electric Main Street Parade.

If i choose not to have 'Ohana where else could we dine that we could still get to the MK in time for the evening entertainment?

I know you've been back for awhile, but I've been out of town for a few days... and the few days prior to that were crazy-busy around here! So, anyway... welcome back and glad you had a fabulous rendezvous with your hubby! :thumbsup2

I loved 'Ohana when I tried it on my trip last year... if Shane and I weren't doing the luau, I'd book another dinner there for October! The only thing I didn't care for was the bread, but that's because I'm not a fan of coconut. The salad dressing was so yummy... I had to hold myself back from licking the bowl, LOL!

I'm all for Ohana! I absolutely love it there. You could always dine at one of the other restaurants on the monorail line or even at WL if DH doesn't want to go to Ohana.

:wave2: Hi Paula, I've been following along with your life on FB, but totally had ignored your PTR......BAD, BAD ME!!! Actually I subscribe & get the nightly update thru email. I haven't been to WDW yet, so I'm no help at all on the restaurant choices. You & your hubby are going to more of the (what I call) "fancier" places, where we're gonna be in character meal heaven.....lol :goodvibes

Hopefully you're hanging in there....I can't imagine being away from Mike. One of the gals from the DIS (goofycathy), lives in Oregon & her husband works up in Alaska for 6 mths at a time (I believe its that long).....so she would know exactly how you're feeling. Your emotions being a roller coaster is to be expected. **hugs**

So did you keep the V&A Chef Table ressie?? What a score that was!!! :hyper:

My hubby has no opinions on where we eat! So I have to try and read his mind! The reason I am contemplating this is the idea of dinner at a Brazilian Steakhouse came up in Vegas and he didn't want to go cause he felt it was too much food for the price and he couldn't eat that much.

No problem Laurie! I get instant email updates but haven't seen one for your PTR in awhile? Any changes?

I can't imagine 6 months apart!! This time it is only 3 weeks so not to bad!

Yes I have kept the Chef's Table. As long as I have the money for it we will keep it. We dined at a nice restaurant in Las Vegas and paid a pretty penny so I figure we can do it again in WDW!

Getting them now! Had to resubscribe!

Vegas was great... I still need to post some of my pictures but I hate looking at myself in them (ie the reason I am now watching what I eat so closely!!)

So I finally called Disney to have them adjust my Coronado Springs Reservation! I had originally reserved it for the whole time Oct 12-26. I had them adjust it to Oct 11-19. Yes. My hubby will KILL me if we end up going even one more day but airfare is so expensive on Friday's and I still haven't booked our flights. Until I book I wanted to have the Thursday check-in just in case. I was able to get the room with the same 30% off PIN I used for the original reservation. So if it is cheaper to spend one more night at WDW than fly on Friday we will do that but if the airfare is close between the 2 days we will fly on Friday and I will just cancel the 11th. Better to have the room than not have it till the flights are booked. Did any of that make sense!??!

Yes! That made total sense. I am in process of cancelling our cruise and we could fly home on Saturday but...airfare is twice as expensive. So we are staying two more nights and going home on a Monday. Yeah for us:) I'm not even having the discusion with my husband because he would just say pay the higher price. Good think I'm in charge of the planning:)

Ok, I have to admit, I am a disboard failure. I have no idea how to keep track of threads or to have anything emailed to you. Everyday I log on and try to remember what I wanted to keep track of and then to find it. Drives me crazy. I have figured out the user CP thing and can find threads that way if I have posted but that is about it. Geesh, it has only been 6 years that I have been on the dis on a daily basis!

2 weeks is sincerly pushing it with my hubby so one more day and he might flip! Plus we are leaving my MIL alone for those 2 weeks and that is a scary thought. We left her alone in CA for 5 days last NOV and that was really pushing it. My hubby will be calling her everyday I am sure to make sure all is well.

To subscribe... I know of 2 ways... #1 is under the page #'s there is a button that says thread tools. You click that and get a drop down.. one of the choices is "Subscribe to thread" Click that and it will ask you if you want notifications and how.

#2 is when you reply to a thread under the first Submit Reply button is another box.. in that box is a drop down with thread subscription options. You can then see all your subscribed threads under User CP no matter which notification method you select.

Brown Derby= love! Just ate there a couple of weeks ago and it was SO SO good.

I also love 'Ohana and it is never about the meat for me- I am always too full from the other food to eat much meat.
I think the banana bread pudding would still be amazing w/o ice cream because it is the sauce that really puts it over the edge into delicious!

I just love Disney math...it's really the only math I understand!:rotfl:

Did you go to Brown Derby for lunch or dinner? It would be a lunch for us and replace 50's PT. Just thinking it might be to heavy for lunch?

I have a whole post on the Restaurant main thread trying to figure out where to eat.

I am torn between 50's PT, Mama Melrose, and Hollywood Brown Derby for lunch on our DHS day and then between Via Nappoli, Le Cellier, Bistro de Paris, 'Ohana, Yachtsman, and Bluezoo. (I can choose 4 of those!)

Yes.. it makes things interesting. Then there is the added problem of my flying from San Jose and hubby from either Colorado Springs or Denver. The airline that he would most likely book out of Colorado Springs does not fly to Orlando on Friday the 12th! Why?!!? I have no idea!! It flys to Denver FROM Orlando on the 26th so I am confused!!

We ate at Brown Derby for lunch. My friend and I split the Cobb salad (which was a perfect size for this- we each got plenty!) and I had the Sterling Silver Pork-seared Tenderloin. It came with a four cheese spaetzle that was out of this world amazing.

As for heavy... I also had the Creme Brulee for dessert. I may not be an accurate judge on 'too heavy' :rotfl: pretty sure I rolled out of there and loved every second of it!!
