It's ALL about the FOOD! An October 2012 PTR! - Trip Report Started.

Yeah.. I was disturbed with my MIL and the thing is all I was trying to do was help...

It ended up resulting in my hubby agreeing to something so in the end its good for the trip... :lmao:

:thumbsup2

The day after I arrived in Colorado I was neurotically checking Southwest airfare and came across a flight for $110 from Orlando to Denver! Yes I had not booked flights to Orlando but I couldn't pass up such a great fare so I booked hubby's return flight! 6 days later Southwest had their fall sale which meant $139 flights to/from Denver and Orlando. Not as good as the $110 but close enough. However they were not valid for flying the Friday I had planned on us going. I was scared to broach the subject of flying October 11th to hubby but it was a great deal cheaper but it meant a full day earlier and another day away from his mom. For a couple years we didn't leave her alone for more than a few hours but her health has actually greatly improved and we have left her basically (I say basically cause the second time her SIL came to stay with her but she is just as bad as my MIL so my MIL actually felt she was watching HER!) alone for a week twice but this will be the longest time yet since our honeymoon 8 years ago. So as I was saying I was scared to broach leaving a day early and as I neurotically checked the airfare to Orlando the price went up so I figured I had more time... Well the following morning the fare was back to $139... What did I do... Well I booked it before it changed again!! My thoughts... well if hubby said no than with Southwest its easy to change... However after the tiff with my MIL I brought up going a day early and he AGREED!! I booked my flights when I returned to California for as close of times as I could find. I didn't get the best prices but I can always change them and get credit if they decrease as I have plenty of other flights to book this year!

So we are now flying in LATE on Thursday October 11th and leaving around 5pm on October 26th!!

14 FULL days at WDW...

Now I am debating... Food & Wine Classic at Swan and Dolphin both Friday & Saturday? Or 3D Dessert party on Friday and Classic Saturday?

I dunno!!!

:cheer2: Woo Hoo on the getting some extra time......14 FULL days!!! :cheer2:

YAY for 14 days at WDW!! That way you'll definately get to take your time, relax, and enjoy everything that WDW has to offer!! I'm super jealous!
I'm glad you found such cheap air tickets! Our are still holding strong at $1004.40 total for both of us round trip. I can't decide if that's reasonable or not. Either way, I'll have to buckle down and purchase them eventually! I can't get to WDW without those tickets! haha:lmao:

Ours ended up being $670 for both of us. My hubby's was only $250, Mine was $420. I'll be getting him a rental car both for the trip from Pueblo, CO to Denver and then vice versa. It's cheaper to get him a one-way rental twice than have to pay for airport parking. The cheapest offsite parking I could find was still over $100. The rental is approx $40 each way so not much cheaper but than he doesn't need to worry about his precious truck!

If I had booked us Friday to Friday the total would be $830. $161 difference. The hotel is slightly less than the $161 difference. So no real savings but its an extra day for the same price.

Ooooh, now you are flying out on my birthday- Lucky!

I was toying with the idea of leaving Friday night instead of super early Saturday, but it doesn't look like it's do-able for our group.

Nive job getting good fares!

Oh you're going to have such a great time!! And my vote is for the 3D dessert party! I am considering doing that!

Signing on! Still need to read through everything, but super excited to do so!

Bummer that its not possible to leave the previous night... I tend to fly places after I get off of work as I feel like I get an extra day that way!

We are definitely doing the 3D dessert party! I had originally planned on doing it the 19th but considering doing it the 12th to spread out some of the F&W events!!

Signing on! Still need to read through everything, but super excited to do so!

Welcome!! I hope I don't bore you to much... I just updated my Table of Contents to include most of the important stuff!

P.S. Good Name!!!

Well my PTR seems to be pretty stagnant right now... And I dunno what to tell you unless you want to hear all my ramblings about my ADR's!

I really can't wait for the F&W event information to be fully released. That will make a big impact on how all my plans actually end up for the trip.

Hey there!! I know what you mean about not having anything to update about our trips! haha I did book Le Cellier finally on Monday, so that's something!! haha :) I'm still here and reading along though!

I hear that an announcement is supposed to come out today on when we can make ADRs for Be Our Guest! Hopefully I'll be able to snag one! :)

Hey.. at least you are telling a TR in your PTR to keep people interested... I need to think of something to keep mine interesting! (only things I can think of are random pictures from WDW 3 years ago, my DL pics from last year, or our Vegas trip for my hubby's birthday...

I'm looking forward to more F&W info, too!

It's torture waiting! I'm thinking with a booking date of August 14th we should have the info by the end of July right?!?!? So another month of waiting?!?!

I've been off the DIS for a few days... nope... didn't get a trip to see my hubby... I've been exercising! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I'm trying to figure out how to fit work, exercise, cooking healthy, and the DIS all in! Good thing I don't have kids or I would be a mess!

So my goal coming back from Colorado on June 15th was to lose 13lbs before my next visit on August 1. I had 6.5 weeks to do this. I didn't have much food in my place for when I first got back so my eating wasn't that great and no exercise. :rolleyes1 Then I bought some groceries and have been sticking to a 1200 calorie diet for the last 12 days. Of those 12 days I have walked or hiked 8 of those days.

I started slow and walked 1.7 miles the first day, 2.2 the second, 2.7 the third, 3.7 the fourth, I was gradually increasing. My goal is to walk at least 4 miles a day. Well the 5th day I found a new place to take a walk... only thing was.... it wasn't so much a walk as a HIKE! I did 4.5 miles over 1.5hrs. I enjoyed it so much though I went back to the same place the following day and did 5.5miles in just a smidge under 2 hours... that sounds slow but I had elevation gain of 1239ft! I was quite a ways up and got some nice pictures with my phone from way up there! I posted them to facebook so if anyone is interested you can see them there! (If you want to be FB friends just send me a message!)

So... now you remember my goal of losing 13lbs in 6.6 weeks?!!? Guess how much I've lost??

Got a guess???

ZERO!!! :confused3

I don't understand! I am drinking lots of fluids so I'm not dehydrated. My diet is well balanced (lots of fruit and veggies, lean proteins).. I've done the 1200 calories before and my body didn't hold onto the weight so I just don't know what is going on....

So anyways.... It's related to Disney in that I want desperately to lose weight before the trip. My original goal was 40lbs lost by Disney. I guess I need to figure out what I need to change if I even want to lose half that!

Alright... now to go catch up on everyone else's reports... I've missed checking in on the DIS but I so want to lose this weight that I don't have much time (or energy!!) left after my long walks and... So... if you see me hanging around a lot?!?! Tell me to go walk please!

It's possible that 1200 calories isn't enough......you hear it all the time.....you have to eat to lose weight. Your body might just be holding on to the weight since it's not taking in enough. Go crazy on vegies, watch the amt of fruit/juice you drink (high in calories), watch processed sugars & starch and drink lots of water.

So easy for me to preach it......at least you're working towards losing weight. I just think about it (all the time).

I'm giving up gluten as I think it may be the culprit for all my stomach woes. So far, so good.

Keep up the good work and maybe just eat better & not calorie count. I've never had any luck when I did that.

Hi Paula! I finally read through your PTR and I have to say I am thrilled for you to be staying 2+ weeks at WDW! How exciting! What a great time to go in October - besides the F&W!

I'm so impressed with your walking/hiking efforts. I think if you give it a few more days you will start to see results. I think that first week or two is the worst since you think I'm doing the steps but why don't I see the results!

So you've done solo trips to DL - cool! Me too... but I'm cheating since I live 15 minutes away!

I'll be following along with your PTR. Good luck with all the planning and anticipation! :)

Good for you for walking and changing your diet so much!! I'm sure it's frustrating without quantifiable results at the moment, but maybe there's just a small tweak to your routine that needs to be done? I'm sorry I don't have better advice!!

1200 seems really low. That's the minimum you should be eating to prevent your body from going into starvation mode. I would add a little more to your diet and see if that has any effect. Your body may just been latching on to those calories since you're not getting enough. I hope it makes a difference because you're really trying!!

The only processed food I am eating is a lean cuisine for lunch at work. I am eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. The only beverage I drink is water. And lots of it. I've followed a 1200 calorie diet before and did great with the weight loss (put it all back but thats another story!) I actually need to count calories or I will be eating 3000 calories without realizing it! I am actually not hungry at all and have to force myself to even reach 1200 calories!

Welcome! Thanks for joining! So jealous you are so close to DL! I really want to go back but it might be awhile :guilty: I like going solo to DL for a few days but more than that and I get bored with myself! :rotfl:

I'm hoping the walking helps in the long run! Trying my hardest to get some of this weight off so I can chow my way around WDW!! :rotfl2:

It may just be too soon to be seeing results. I dunno... hopefully I will start seeing a difference soon!

1200 is the minimum required and its perfectly fine to be at that amount. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies which are low calorie and then lean proteins like tuna so I am getting enough food. Most of the time I even have to force myself to eat to get that many calories!
