We are sailing on Saturday and looking at the tropical storm forecast. When do they usually make itinerary changes if needed? Any thoughts?

A few weeks ago the itinerary change was posted a day prior to sail date. But sometimes you won't know until after you board. Depends when they make the call I guess.

Storms are so erratic -- all cruise lines can do is watch and see, then reroute if necessary. Two or three years ago my DD and her DH were on a cruise that had a hurricane chasing them across the Gulf of Mexico. When they docked in Jamaica on the way back to Florida, three or four extra ships had pulled into port to dodge the storm.

Unless a storm has closed Port Canaveral, the calls are up to the Captain on a day by day basis. That allows the maximum flexibility as well as giving the guests the best possible experience.

Storms can move...so making a call days or a week ahead based on predictions isn't too smart. If the predictions were wrong, everything is a mess! Bottom line--the ship isn't going anywhere near a hurricane or tropical storm, and you'll have a great cruise.

I called them today. They are tracking the storm and if there is a change they will let us know by phone call. I'm stalking the National Hurricane website. LOL
