It really is all about perception!

My DH is that guy. His time is VERY valuable to him:) We did ME once...never again. I thought it was fun, but with a super grumpy hubs, it wasn't worth the multiple stops and the time vs. ground transportation for us. He was happy to pay for a car service, I felt pampered, everyone wins! However I love ME on girls trips:)

That's what I'm saying! We have also experienced both situations but what can you expect? He has seriously done NOTHING but complain very loudly!

That's your perception of his day; you don't know what happened before he got in a long line for DME. Might be how he processes things, so he gets them out.

I think it's sad that people were laughing at him. Cruel.

He might also be a total poop, but especially when thinking about perspective, we have to be aware there there might be other factors going on with someone's complainy moments...

I don't see that there's a good reason to verbally annoy and dishearten OTHERS unlucky enough to find themselves in his vicinity.

I've sat and waited on a DME bus for 40+ minutes. Did it make me happy? No. Was it fun? No. Did the delay irritate me? Yes.

His perception is his reality, not yours. Who knows what kind of irritations he had to deal with traveling earlier in the day and sitting on the bus for an extended period of time was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Just arrived at MCO, right through ME and into bus. Left within 3 minutes. DH sitting by a guy who has been on 35 minutes and is complaining endlessly about the "cattle car" and the "horrible wait." Now saying if hotel check-in takes this long he is asking for a refund! Hello....I get you were one of the first on the bus and that sucks, but they can't very well take you on an empty bus at Spring Break time. I have a feeling he will not enjoy his week :). On a side note, if MCO is any sort of predictor, it's gonna be crowded!!!!

Eh, I get it. We were definitely those people who had a 45 minute wait as the bus filled up. It was a known "less crowded" week, which I don't think matters. Then, of course we had to go to two other hotels before we got to ours. I get it, we could rent a car if we wanted to get there immediately, and of course they will wait until the bus fills up, etc. Doesn't make it any less annoying tho, especially when traveling all day. You're lucky you had a very short wait! Have fun!

Turns out (DH told me later) he was on a solo trip to escape his normal job of ghost hunting so um...don't really know what to say about that!

Just got to vegas for work line for a taxi looks like spaceship earth on a busy day rather be waiting at mco lol

I think it is also partly setting expectations and knowing what you are getting.

1- With ME you are getting a ride at no cost (I know nothing is free and it is built into the rooms costs in some fashion). For this you get to walk right from the gate avoid baggage claim, and if you are lucky with your timing you can be whisked to Disney World fairly quickly. Your bags will arrive in your room usually within 3 to 4 hours so plan accordingly

2- There is a chance you may have an extended wait for ME. Our last visit we had to wait to load for 10-15 minutes and than another 10-15 to fill bus.

Of course the alternative is grab your own luggage (which sometimes can take 20+ minutes, go to the car rental counter and wait there (unless you are able to bypass counter) and drive yourself or pay for a car service after getting your bags.

A car service can be a fine alternative but it is an added expense that may or may not save you anytime, not to mention missing the ME video. :goodvibes I would actually like this, maybe even a drink, but my wife would be disappointed if we did not take ME.

Granted there may be other reasons someone is grumpy or that they had flight delays etc... but I don't want to hear someone whining/complaining on vacation. We have all seen people in our everyday lives that create a scene at a retail store, a restaurant, a hotel, or just on their cell phones. Everyone has the right to get upset but please don't be a "donkey" about it. :hippie:

35 minutes can be a little much IF you have been traveling all day, but, being on the way to your onsite hotel for FREE more than makes up for it in my opinion.I probably wouldn't be that happy about it,but hey,im on my way to WDW,so I'd just sit back, relax, and mull over, and tweak our already well laid plans!!:goodvibes

Ok so I think I actually might know this guy, lol

My best friend and her family traveled to WDW today. Would have been on ME at this time. her DH is anti Disney but she begged for years to go for the sake of their kids. She texted me and said he's been fussy about everything so far :(

That makes a bad vacation and experience for everyone!! :( Maybe she can leave him in the room? Haha. There are plenty of people who would gladly take his place!!

I know, same here!! I've gotta get my yearly WDW fix, haha. Actually this year we are just going on DCL and I'm already wanting to go back to WDW....we were there in September 2013.

Sent from my LG G2.

I am going wayyyy out on a limb here. I cannot tell you how many I see there, or hear when they return and throw up the negativity. Some say they do it for the kids, and yet, nobody had good time, or your spouse is not just not into it, but anti Disney. and yes- the downright nasty spouse exchanges in MK are worthy of a Dr. Phil session, or Mothers Little Helper.

I try to block it out.

One year, a kid and father got on the ME right behind me, and sat down behind me. TH whole bus heard the 5 year old say "SMILE DAD-we are at Disney now".

yes- the father then smiled. we all clapped and cheered. lots of positive conversation was shared after that to the resort.

moral of the story: perception affects everyone. :grouphug:

You know what would piss me off more? Having to hear the speil about Disney's latest attraction on the way from MCO. You know the one...the ride that opened up at AK in 2006. :)

Awesome!!

I'm from your area too (just north of Cincy) :wave2:

We always drive (bc I hate flying) but the one time we flew down I had to rent a car bc I know how impatient I am with buses. Our friends fly down every year and always tell me how the trip starts with ME but I just couldn't bring myself to try it. I need my car, my luggage, etc. on my time...in other words I need control!

Poor guy...hope his trip gets better! Reminds me of my uncle when we came down for our first trip back in 2009. He didn't want to come with my aunt and their 4 boys but did and although we caught a few smiles, he swore he would never go back, lol. In his defense...their (up to that point) perfectly fine van did break down 3 times while we were on property!

Yup. I would've said, "woot! An extra set of FP+ for me!" :woohoo:

Cattle travel on padded, air-conditioned seats in their cattle car? Pardon me, didn't know that. The waiting guy seriously needs to ask for a refund for his ME experience. Oh, it's FREE? Never mind!

It is not free. The room is marked up to include it. He IS paying for it.
