It really is all about perception!

Just arrived at MCO, right through ME and into bus. Left within 3 minutes. DH sitting by a guy who has been on 35 minutes and is complaining endlessly about the "cattle car" and the "horrible wait." Now saying if hotel check-in takes this long he is asking for a refund! Hello....I get you were one of the first on the bus and that sucks, but they can't very well take you on an empty bus at Spring Break time. I have a feeling he will not enjoy his week :). On a side note, if MCO is any sort of predictor, it's gonna be crowded!!!!

I'd say, "Oh, you met my husband", but we don't arrive until NEXT Monday. For the record, he insisted on coming again, and our daughter and I tried everything we could to get him not to go. Disney in late September wasn't his cup of tea, Disney during Spring Break is going to be a nightmare.

My DH who is a HUGE WDW lover, he was the one that convinced me to buy DVC and is always planning our next trip...was that guy on our last trip.

Our flight was delayed twice. We did not get out until 945pm instead of 615pm. We then had to go get our lugguage which we knew already since we were landing late. We then get on the ME bus and it is packed, maybe one of two seats. We sat for another 1/2 hour...WHY???? We dont know why no one got on after us. And of course since it was late, it was going to way more resorts than when we travel during the day, and of course our resort was LAST. We did not get to our AKL room until 230am.

So DH who never complains was really annoyed that this bus just sat. Maybe they were waiting on someone else, but it was ridiculous and we were extremely frustrated, tired and cranky.

Made it tough on our day for an early AK and then a late MVMCP party, we had to leave AK and take a nap.

The only time I start complaining is when I get off the ME in Philly and I have to get my own bags! Heck, ME could take eight hours to bring them, I wouldn't care as long as I don't have to carry them!

Well, I hope he gets his money back for the ME ;)
I wouldn't want to have to wait for 35 minutes on the bus either, but thats why I would arrange for other transportation instead.

THis is exactly what I was thinking. We wouldn't want to wait 35 minutes. wow! We drive mostly now but when we flew only one time did we use Disney transportation. We paid for a car service. I want to start my vaca, baby!! :cool1:

We love the bus, waiting doesn't bother us. We are excited to get going, but we are THERE. We've got the tough travel out of the way, we don't have to wrestle with luggage because someone is going to take care of that for us so all we have to do is sit back and relax.

I use that time to take a deep breath, decompress a little, and think about how I have a whole week of Disney ahead of me. Planning is part of the fun, for me that's the end of that "phase" of the vacation.

DH is always so, so happy once we get on the bus-it's funny to see him act so excited :rotfl:

Now the ride back is a whole different story :(

Sounds like "Grumpy" missed his nap. It's a shame he didn't take one right there on the bus.
that's what I do. I hit the bus and thank God we got there safe and to make sure our bags get to the room now so I have clothes for the week! Then I fall asleep cause I know this 40 min ride will be my change to catch a quick cat nap after being up since 3 Am.

I never got how people could be in a bad mood on the way to Disney and you are right that it is all about perspective. A fraction of the planet has easy access to drinkable water, a smaller fraction has access to rudimentary medicine, and a miniscule fraction has the ability to even think of going to Walt Disney World once in their lifetimes.

I keep that in mind when I consider whining about a wait on a bus and then don't.

One of my trips on the DME bus a guy went crazy when they made the announcement about the bags not being in your room for 3-4 hours. Seems his wife made all of the plans, and he had no clue! I know his wife made the plans because he then started to yell at her about it.

Oh, UH-UH. By the end of that bus ride, my husband would be begging the driver to let him sleep on the bus all week. :furious:

I wonder if someone else in the family did all of the planning, and he had no idea what to expect.

She then started to explain about ADRs, and he went crazy about that too. She ended up on the phone the whole ride, trying to score some meals.

Oh man, I wonder how he would react if when he finally got to his resort and his room wasn't ready yet :scared1:.

Your family sounds like mine. We are all so glad to be finally on ME, that if it takes 30 some minutes before the bus driver sits in his seat and starts moving the bus, then so be it....just as long as he turns on the video, I am a happy camper :goodvibes. The most stressing part of the whole trip is when we are in the airport, so when we see the ME buses, our whole family breathes a sigh of relief. And the funny thing is, because we always fly out early morning, when DH finally can sit in those comfy seats, he always reclines the chair and then takes a nap and doesn't wake up until I nudge him because we are at our resort.

I agree that it's about perception! We usually have good luck with Magical Express, but last month I was traveling on my own with our three boys and . . .

1) Left home a day early due to weather issues, had four hours from flight change to flight departure, finished packing, made a night-of reservation at Disney, changed Magical Express reservation, added ADRs and FP+ for our extra morning at WDW, picked up the kids from school early and in a huge rush, took a flight with a layover, then a flight delay in our connecting city, hungry kids, arrived late at night. I mean, this was not our easiest travel day!

2) Waited 45 minutes on Magical Express bus.

3) Driver made no announcements regarding the resort stops, the order of the stops, etc. Even when we stopped at a resort, he did not announce the resort. Lots of confused guests.

4) The bus was one of the waterpark buses so it was really hard to see out of the windows with the tiny holes at night.

5) No music or Disney video.

6) Driver got lost. Really - our 7-year-old announced to the bus that the driver was lost - and he was right!

But our perception was that we were in Disney 16 hours earlier than expected and the new magic bands are really fun and easy to use for boarding! Good thing my husband wasn't with us because he would have been super grumpy! As much as this Magical Express ride was the worst ever, we didn't let it bother us. I still love Magical Express and will definitely continue to use it whenever we fly in.

Now that's the attitude to start a vacation with! :cheer2:
