Delta Airline doesn't seem to want my money nor do they seem to care about cusmoer service!

First: They cancelled my non-stop flight going down without paying me the difference back (Additional 62.00 for non-stop!). Although this is really AAA/DIS! Still urkes me!!!

Second: Last day of the trip (Last Sunday). I decided that we would stay an additional day! Reserved the same room for additional day. Called Delta to rescheduled the departure date. They cannot do it over the phone. Also they stated that I would need to contact AAA (Packakge Origination) to change it! Well, needless to say AAA was not open on Sunday so SOL! Several calls to Disney Vaca and Delta later got me no where!!!!

This does not make any sense to me. All I wanted to do is to change the date of the flight. Willing to pay the difference. And to top it all, the flight had available seats! Had the person verify.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I'm going to move this over to Transportation, maybe others can help.

Hugs to you... I hear ya and we stopped travelling with Delta years ago... any other airlines fly out of Ct? We flew American out of Boston last week, it was ok as flights go, we are trying Jet Blue in December. Unfortunately, I think Delta has the Northeast sewn up so you have to either grab the one direct flight the others offer or be willing to fly into another airport and out again..

Did you book this as a package with a travel agent? If so, that is probably why Delta would not deal directly with you.

Sounds like AAA office is your TA so Delta can't touch the reservation. It's kind of like trying to deal direct with Disney when you have a TA - it's not going to happen. I'm sorry I know how frustrating this can be. Did the AAA office do anything to help you out on fixing the air fare?

Why is this Delta's fault? If you used a TA no one will deal with you only the TA. I needed to add a day to my Disney hotel and wanted to do it before the free dining was over but Disney couldn't do it I had to wait for my TA to open on Monday and hope all weekend it was still available. Know who you are mad at before you give somewone a bad rap- in this case Delta.

While Delta is at fault in many cases, I don't think this is one of them. AAA technically 'owns' the reservation, so they have to make any and all changes to it. Yet another reason I don't make reservations through a TA...especially flights.

First: Delta cancelled my non-stop flight to 1 stop! Which I paid extra for originally... No reimbursement! Second: I didn't blame them for the not being able to change the date. I just don't understand why I can't change the flight directly. Regardless of cost. Again I wasn't changing the package, just the return date.

Well did AAA do what you wanted? Since this started last Sunday and you had to deal with AAA I would expect it's resolved.

Also, you probably could have asked AAA to refund you the entire ticket and start over if you think you can get a better deal.

A reason to be bothered, but fares change all the time and they are not going to give you the difference... not gonna happen....

It has been said over and over here, you can't change a reservation made by a TA. You don't own the reservation, the TA does and they MUST make the changes. Airlines and Disney will not work with you.

As stated by Carol.... did AAA take care of it?

I echo what everyone else has said here. You do not own the reservation, AAA does.
Next time, come here, get advice, book with SWA and CRO and then you can be in charge. Don't mean to sound cold, but, with all the free and excellent advice floating around here for free, you don't need a travel agent.

Just had to chime in one more time - if you booked through AAA for the discount you can still get it through Disney without going through them.

Have you asked Delta if you can assign the reservation back to them with a letter of authorization? I know I could do that with Disney reservations, but haven't done with an airline. It may be worth a shot. :confused3 I definitely wouldn't book flights through a TA. I'm slightly control freakish. I don't know if they can get any better deals than you going directly with the airline.

I'm really sorry, but like other posters have said - fares change and they aren't going to return money because they dropped their flight. They will allow you to change your flight times on that day with no change penalty if the new flight times do not work for you. If you change your date you will incur the $50 per ticket change fee plus any change in fare.

These issues are really a reflection of stanard practice across most of the airline industry. It is essential for passengers to learn what it is they're buying. When you purchase airline tickets, you are purchasing passage from one city to another, on a specific day. That's it. Every other aspect of your reservation is subject to change without notice: the number of stops, the aircraft to be used, seat assignments, the time of day. These elements of flexibility are a reflection of how insanely low the airfares are. To keep air travel emminently affordable, airlines need that kind of flexibility, and that is what you're agreeing to when you purchase airline tickets. No US domestic airline is willing to commit to any of those things, for any price, at this time. They believe that it would drive them out of business to be hamstrung in that manner.

Something else to keep in mind: When you purchase an airline ticket through a travel agent, the airline pays the travel agent specifically for the service of handling all your customer service needs with regard to your flights, at least up until the time you check-in for your flight, when the airline takes over customer service responsibilities for you. The airline is surely not going to pay someone else to provide you customer service, and then incur the cost themselves. To ensure that travel agents live up to their commitments, airlines have to hold to a hard-and-fast rule regarding this.

I realize how frustrating it is when an airline does this, and Delta does it a lot. I used to love flying on Song but had to put up with constant flight changes. The problem is, if you read that fine print, you will see that the airline only promises you a flight to your particular destination, on that day for which you booked. They can change it from a non-stop to a flight with 2 stops if they choose and you have no recourse. I've started flying SW and JetBlue more often just because of this. I get comparable prices, usually less, and I know my flights aren't going to change. Well, my JB flight did, but they made it right for me! My big issue is that I like to book my flights at the 331 day window, or at least as soon as I know I'm traveling and I can't do that with SW and JetBlue.

If at the time of booking there are multiple choices, some of which are more expensive than others, and you choose one of the more expensive ones, then, if your choice is cancelled by the provider and you end up with one of the cheaper choices, you should get more than the corresponding refund.

I'm not saying you should get yesterday's super fare war sale fare but it does help to have a printout of all the choices you had as of the date you booked.

Unfortunately, while some may feel that that should be the case, it isn't any part of the agreement passengers make with the airline when they purchase airline tickets. Rather, the passenger's only recourse is a full refund (and then only if the change is significant, more than two or four hours depending on the airline), leaving the passenger having to find new flights again. Often, airlines are more generous than that, but passengers shouldn't count on that, and should consider it a courtesy when offered.

All in All... It was agreat vacation! Thanks for the response folks!

I don't know about the travel agent part. I have a corporate travel agent for business travel, American Express Travel. On a trip in July, I wanted to leave a day early, not thinking I called USAir direct. They were able to change my flights but charged me $100 plus change of fare (another $50). Only after did I realize I was supposed to call American Express, we get some corporate discounts. Luckily my company paid the extra charge.

If only AAA can touch the reservation, then they should have assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Yes, customers should count on businesses to do the right thing. Paying for a more expensive option means receiving it or receiving a price reduction, not just having a chance to receive it.

Businesses may seem generous but if the reason is not purely trying to the right thing then the reason is preferring to make the decision in house as opposed to have a court judge make the decision.

Unfortunately if you booked with a travel agent, you must go back to the travel agent if the providers (hotels, airlines, etc.) say so. Contact the travel agent as soon as possible regarding each problem. But after you get back home you should present unresolved problems to the travel agent to be resolved.
