Is There Still A 800 Number For Booking ?

wee-haggis,
If your phone service doesn't have "free long distance," then you might want to borrow the use of a friend's phone which does have that feature.

OMG... I remember that number! I don't know if it still works, but it USED to be 1-800-WDISNEY

There is no toll free number.
I don't recall them ever having a toll free number but if they did it was yers and years and years ago.

Years back there were 800 numbers, primarily for TA's. Non TA's would become aware of them. Disney kept changing them every so often but finally discontinued them as 'no additional charge' long distance calling became commonplace.

You could buy a pricy DVC contract, and pay a bunch in annual dues ... But they do "give" you a member-only 800 number for booking

The 800 numbers were pulled several years ago and now the 407 numbers are the only option unless you a DVC member booking under your membership.
The toll-free numbers were meant for travel agents, but got a around to us regular folk so Disney shut them off.

You obviously do not understand DVC. LOL

The contract pays for itself in a matter of a few trips and you stay Deluxe. There is NO WAY you could ever go to Disney and stay for a week on what you pay in dues, not even at a value.
Maybe you could do a Motel 6. ;) Definitely not Disney property.

You do have the phone number piece correct, however.

I fully understand DVC, it's an amazing deal for staying at a deluxe.
But dues keep creeping up. Your statement used to be very true.

I think I paid about $140/night in dues (not including point purchase price) to stay in a Standard view Poly studio this summer. That's basically the (non-discounted) All Star rack rate of $150/night.

It was shut off in 2008.

That timing makes sense because I was active here while people were talking (in present tense) about using an 800 number and then the number was cut off, then another number would be talked about etc.

I'm wondering just how many people still pay long distance any more. Can't be very many, I'd think. Even my 70+ yo parents have cell phones that call long distance for no charge.

LOL.. Your idea of what it costs for a week at Disney and mine are very different. Besides, you have way more than the cost of dues to buying DVC. We've priced it out and no way is it cheaper for us to buy DVC

My 70+yr old parents do pay for long distance on the landline BUT they also have cell phones and unlimited minutes.

And I totally agree about DVC.
We've looked into it and for our family it does not work with how we vacation and our budget.
We like to go when we want to go and stay where we want to stay and not break the bank doing so.

I bought tickets in April 2009 from the Disney store and the envelope they came in had two 1-800 numbers on it,one for Disneyland and the other for WDW.

The WDW # was still working in 2010 prior to our trip but as has been mentioned, no longer exists

Being in Canada I don't have unlimited U.S. calling so use a calling card for Disney calls. Cost effective for those 45 minute wait times

I will say, I wish they had one for international travellers. While I have Canada wide calling, the 50-70 cents a minute to call the USA is taxing haha. I do buy prepaid calling cards when I can find them, so that helps.
