There is a spot I stand on every visit. Its located in Tomorrowland, just in front of the Peoplemover, between the entrance to the former Alien Encounter and TimeKeeper. Its basically the spot where you have to decide whether to walk right or left to get around the Peoplemover/Astro Orbiter tower on the way to Space Mountain.
I have a very clear memory of standing on that spot back in 1975. The park had just opened and my sister and I had been runnning for Space Mountain, but we had to stop to wait for Mom and Dad to catch up. I remember standing there, looking back toward the hub as my parents approached. I was in my favorite place in the world and the day was just beginning. A whole day of magic still lay before me. I was happy, excited and carefree. I'll never forget that feeling.
Its been nearly 30 years since that day. We lost Dad to cancer years ago and Tomorrowland is very different now. Still, somehow, when I stand on that spot, a little bit of that feeling returns and I am once again an excited kid in his favorite place on earth. Such is the magic of Disney World.
