Is there a reason not to take my 'good' diaper bag?

I only have one diaper bag and it was pretty pricy. Is there a reason that I shouldn't take it on the trip with us? Do things like this get stolen while you're on rides? Will it get a lot more wear and tear that usual and get ruined? I'm just not sure what I'll throw everything in if we don't bring it.

I didn't bring my good diaper bag into the park. Instead, we have a small diaper backpack that we use for trips to places that it might get dirty, it was like $15 on Amazon. We put all our stuff in that, and it has straps to attach it to the stroller. It is insulated, though our daughter is 2 and we didn't need to keep any bottles cool.

I would be less worried about the bag being stolen, but more concerned about it getting ruined in one of Orlando's sudden storms, or the kid standing next to you with a dripping ice cream cone, or the color being faded from a few days out in the sun. The backpack isn't very fashionable. but it is Disney, nobody is worrying about how fashionable your diaper bag is.

I would leave anything "good" or valuable in my stroller while on a ride.
We use 2 backpacks for trips. One acts as a diaper bag, the other has snacks, our camera, etc.

I am wondering this too. I may just take a large Disney tote bag instead.

Stuff gets stolen from strollers all the time. If you plan on taking it on rides with you, it's ok, but never leave it alone. When my kids were little I'd take one small bag which I carried with me at all times, then a bigger one with all the "extras" that I left with the stroller. This is the time to use the "freebie" bags, so no one will even notice them!

I take my vera Bradley backpack and leave it at the stroller. I love Vera for Dis bc it is washable:) Never had or heard of any issues with stealing. I have a coach diaper bag and didn't take that bc I didn't want it getting something spilled on it or extra dirty. If you have to set it on the ground or on the busses..I wouldn't want it getting scraped up or dirty.

I have always wondered about the stealing, and it's why I probably won't use my nice diaper bag. I wonder if this really happens often? Even just with diapers and clothes for my LO I would hate to have that stolen!

Stuff does get stolen. We used backpack diaper bags and brought them on the rides. Came in handy too, having snacks, water, wipes, and toys available in lines.

Only if you're worried about a fashionable Pluto running off with it.

I brought my large jujube bag on our last trip and had no issues, minus Pluto at Chef Mickey's running off with it (My older son still laughs about it :) ). Now that I think about it though we never left it on the stroller. Since we had a little guy with us any of the "faster" rides we did baby swap on so someone was always with the stroller/bag/camera. On all the other rides we just brought it with us and put it by our feet.

My kids are older now and tall, so we don't really have to worry about baby swapping anymore. The con though now is what to do with my dslr and camera bag. I love taking photos and having it with me at the parks but obviously can't leave it on the stroller and I'm pretty sure we can't bring it on rides such as splash/Space mt/etc. Anyway...

For what its worth - we left a ton of stuff in our stroller all the time. Multiple clip on fans, small bags, etc, and nothing was ever stolen. At the same time though I wouldn't risk it and never left anything worth more than I could afford to lose with it.

I carry a backpack and carry it on the rides. Never leave anything in the stroller that is valuable. Things get stolen a lot out of strollers at Disney everyday...even the strollers themselves. My friend is a manager at Epcot, when I had my son the one thing she told me was never to take my good stroller to the, parks and never leave anything in a stroller when riding rides.

We never left anything in our stroller that we would be upset about loosing. Often I left a plastic bag with diapers and wipes and maybe a change of old clothes, but if it was stolen, no big loss. The worst that happened to us was when someone stole a cheap poncho off our stroller that we were using as a rain cover. Everything got wet. We did have to buy a towel for my DS to sit on. But nothing was ruined that we cared about.

We've taken our DSLR in a fairly large camera backpack on all the rides, you should be fine. Sometimes we ask a gift shop for a plastic bag before the water rides to add some protection from getting wet.

Yep.

By the end of our stroller-use, we left NOTHING in the strollers. At Disneyland we dealt with theft-from-stroller twice. The first time we were "made whole" by a Disney CM, and the second time the item had no value of any but the tiniest sentimental kind, but still, someone *stealing* from you is not a great feeling.

Super glad you never had anything stolen. Can I hang out with you and your luck all the time? :)

And of course you can take your camera and its bag on the rides. Not at Universal on about 6 rides total, but at WDW, bags can go with you no problem. Just maybe have a big plastic bag to help keep it dry on some rides and during rainstorms before you get to shelter.

I'll be using a small retractable lock to secure bags/mugs to stroller and disable a stroller wheel. Won't be leaving anything of value in the bags.
PS what kind of jerk goes rifling through other people's strollers? Ugh.

And wouldn't a CM see them poking through all the strollers and say something?

I used a Patagonia Atom bag to keep valuables in and really scaled that back to essentials. Diaper backpack with change of clothes and dipes/wipes stayed in stroller. It was a risk we knew we were taking by leaving it.

I have a pricey JuJuBee diaper bag, but actually preferred my Vera Bradley backpack at Disney! It was lighter, easy to get in and out of the stroller basket, and just worked perfectly for us!

I will say that we often left our VB diaper backpack in our Bumbleride Indie Twin stroller...with valuable items...and never had an issue during our 8 day trip. Maybe we were lucky, but we did what worked best for our sanity!

CMs do not pay attenion to whose stroller is who. If they are on stroller duty they easily can end up with 100 strollers in some areas. It is hard to tell whose is whose. Also it could just be someone who has lost track of something in their stroller and not a theif. Very hard to tell when you may not remember the family who dropped the stroller off.

Also many of the stroller areas do not have CMs assigned just to strollers. They may also be area greeters or wandering between 2 stroller areas reparking strollers that are not in a proper area.

The real theives are the squirrels. Don't keep your snacks on your strollers. Twice I've watched a squirrel run off with full bags one was a cheetos bag and the other gold fish.

Bumbershoot - of course you can! But like I said I suspect the reason why we might have been so lucky is we don't leave anything really valuable in the stroller. Of course those stroller fans in September were worth their weight in gold.

You can even take bags on space mt./Everest/etc? I didn't know that! Will help a lot :)

I was just going to mention what wilkeliza said - don't leave any sort of food, snacks, etc. in your stroller. I've not only seen the squirrels run off with bags of stuff, but they will take their time to methodically go through the entire contents of your stroller to see what you might be hiding in there.
