Is the resort reservation availability forum helpful?

Has this been a good guide for those of you, that have used it as an additional tool? The reason I ask; My brother has a 2-Bdr villa reserved at SSR from exchanging some HGVC points. He is going to ask at check in, if a THV is available they would prefer to stay their. I see that at time they will be staying at SSR this spring, that according to the "Resort Reservation Availability" forum, all dates are still open. I was told by a CM at SSR that it never hurts to ask. I was just curious as to how accurate that form is.

With the option to now view resort availability online at the member's website, I think that the information on that forum has become less reliable. Why would someone post what is not available when members can just go online and check for themselves?

The availability board was not always updated. It was only updated to the point that people reported in.

As far as the Tree House Villas are concerned they are pretty much booked up at the 11 month mark. So you might want to let your brother know not to get his hopes up at all. Of course it never hurts to ask.

take your brother is going thru RCI to do this exchange - since to my knowledge HGVC does not exchange thru DVC directly.

RCI exchanges are just about impossible to change. Now he can change his mind now and ask that it be done - but to wait until he arrives at SSR. don't think it will happen then.

they have to use the available of RCI not DVC to do this. So would tell him to call RCI or HGVC and ask that this change be make if he really want this.

All this forum is good for is if you want to know dates are NOT available. People report to it if they did NOT get what they asked for. If it's open, it just means no one has reported it as not available. Considering the small number of people who report to it, it's pretty worthless.

I recently saw a post that this board is going to be discontinued with online reservations now available.
