DIRTY!!

I'm sure it is classified as a truck. I had a Durango and it was considered a truck. The Hummer is much bigger than the Durango.

Its not a truck- and neither was your Durango

A truck- has a cab and a bed

A SUV is built on a truck chasis- that has an "enclosed" bed.

I have an Envoy- thats an SUV, DH has a Silverado- thats a Truck.

A Hummer H2- is a SUV

The new hummer coming out- the TRUCK is a TRUCK...because it has a bed thats NOT enclosed

H2 has to be one of the ugliest things I've seen lately on the road and it gets single diget gas mileage :earseek:

It gets better gas mileage then our old Bronco. That thing was a gas hog. Personally they aren't appealing to me but the inside is quite luxurious. As long as I don't have to drive it I'm fine. Can't see over the hood anyway!

i want the real thing not the h2,,, the suburban just isnt quite... big enough anymore:) actually i drive and like the suburbus:)

I see Hummers all over the place around here. I sat in one and it is pretty impressive!
I still don't know if it's classified as a truck or an SUV?

Lots of Hummers in my town, too. I don't think they're too bad!! If we had a larger piece of property, or took off-road trips and vacations, I'd definitely want one. :) I just think they're cool ::yes::

According to the state of Missouri, my Durango was a truck. The Durango is built on the same frame as the Dodge Ram. I would still assume for tax purposes that the Hummer will be classified as a truck. Call your county tax office and they will be able to tell you.

For government classification purposes, almost (if not all) suv's are considered trucks.

That allows the car makers to get away with lower fuel milage standards, different safety regulations, etc.

Even most of the small suv's like the Dodge Magnum (which looks like a station wagon to me) are still considered trucks.

If SUV's were considered cars, they would be forced to drive up the price even more with better engines for fuel economy, or drop the size down to something more reasonable.

What would I classify it as? A waste of our natural resources and an overindulgence.

And this is coming from a die-hard republican (who happens to want a hybrid). :p

gallaj0's right. SUV's are trucks. I think some folks may be confusing the term "truck" with "pickup". A pickup is a type of truck. So is an SUV. So is a van, including most minivans. The distinction may be subtle, but it is important. Not only do trucks not count towards a manufacturer's CAFE rating, safety and emissions requirements are different, as are licensing and operations regulations in many states. Also, with imports, sometimes quotas and tarriff levels come into play as well.
