Solo female - first floor or higher for safety - ASMu

Well @ Dustykins I don't think you're overthinking this you are just unsure and want helpful advice from helpful people on these boards. I recently returned from a great solo stay at Music in a preferred room. My post can be found in the ASMusic resort thread. My requests were non connecting 3rd floor room Calypso. I was fortunate and got all my requests in building 10. My requests weren't for safety reasons but health ones. Because of health issues I use a cane and walk very slow so being close to the food court and busses is important to me. But in all my solo trips and I have had numerous ones I have always felt safe at Disney no matter where my room was. I am sure all these helpful and reassuring responses from everyone here will help you make the best decision for you. Enjoy your solo stay at ASMusic. I know I did.

Always go with upper floor room in any hotel especially a motel style layout with outside corridors. This is a common request known in the hotel industry and most room assigners and front desk in properties outside the Disney bubble will try to anticipate this for solo women guests and women with children. At Disney, they simply assign at random. I always ask at check in for an upper floor for many reasons not just personal security. Upper floor tends to be less noisy. I've also traveled to WDW in hurricane season and stayed at POP. I watched the rain water pooling and starting to run under the doors of first floor rooms. For specifics, this was the "hoops hotel" building at POP. It's your vacation. Make yourself as comfortable as possible so you can enjoy it fully.
Just to clarify,Hoops Hotel is at All-Star Sports.

I'm a frequent solo female and have never felt unsafe or been in any situation at WDW that would be of concern. For many years I have gone to WDW solo 98% of the time - and I normally request a 1st floor room b/c I use an ECV. People are there to have a great vacation - Just use common sense - just like anyplace!
