I guess if Disney had any reason to restrict the pin's 'value' to only one day they could write the actual date on the pin when they write your name on it. They don't so they can't think it's a problem.
When I made reservations the CM put down on the books that my DD's(12) birthday was everyday of out 10 day trip. She wore her button everyday! I celebrated my birthday there too, but I only wore my button on my actual birthday. I think for kids it is a wonderful thing. She received a lot of attention and was made to feel very special. Have a great trip!
There is no "Disney" protocol for this except for those people who make it their business to worry about it.
No CM is going to stop you and say "Now, before I give you this free $3 cupcake or say Happy Birthday, I need to see a government issued ID or birth certificate so you can prove it is your birthday."
Heck, at home, I celebrate my birthday for several days - one day lunch with friends, a family party, the day of my birthday, etrc. I see no reason why this would not apply at Disney.
For the most part, all it does is give you a few extra Happy Birthday comments. No harm in that.
personally i feel like if you are going down to celebrate a birthday.. then you should celebrate it the whole time! i mean, if you are going to WDW to celebrate your birthday, why would you only celebrate it on the actual day? i mean, would you only take a vacation to celebrate your birthday for one day? and then fly/drive back home? or if you are doing down to celebrate your birthday and your birthday already past, should you not go to WDW at all? thats silly!!!!
DBF and i went to WDW for his birthday last year. for his birthday present i decided to do the BSM tour since i knew that he would be interested in the "way things work". we arrived to the group late and i had my baby backpack with me. so i RAN to go check in with the tour and made him go through the tediously LONG process of bag check. i told the CM that we were here, DBF was over there checking the bag, and this tour was his birthday present because tomorrow was his birthday! the CM made a point ( since you have to wear name tags when you do the tour..) to give him a birthday pin as his name tag! the CM didn't care that his birthday wasn't that day. it was all about the celebration. the CM even said happy birthday to practically every CM he saw in other parks. and they replied happy birthday! then they saw DBF's birthday pin and said happy birthday to him. this embarassed him. as it would any other 25 year old guy. i loved it! so i say wear it. its not like there are birthday pin police although, that would be hilarious!
We celebrated our son's birthday all 9 days of our last vacation in December. Who is to know what day is your birthday or not besides you and your family. We stayed from the 1-9 and my DS's birthday was not until the 19th. But it WAS his Birthday vacation and he knew that.
I have a memory from it that I will remember all my life. He turned 6 that month and sometimes he wanted to wear the pin, sometimes he didn't. One morning while we were waiting for our Crystal Palace ADR for breakfast, he didn't want to wear it, so I pinned it to my backpack. Some Dream Team members happened to walk by, to which my back was towards them, and they must have saw the pin. They looked at my son and said "Happy Birthday, Jerett", gave him some stickers, and walked away. My son knew he didn't have his pin on and didn't realize that they saw it on the bookbag. He turned to me with his bright blue eyes and said...."Mommy, how did they know it was my birthday? Wow, this place really is magical!" I filled up with tears and thought, this is the reason why I go to Disney.
On our trip for my DW's brthday we went to get the button on her b-day 3 days after getting there and the CM made me promise that my DW would wear it everyday until we left. She would not give us the button until i promised to make her wear it every day. wear it proud and have fun.
A few years ago on my families last night at WDW we had dinner at Chef Mickey's and said it was my Dad's birthday, because it was not going to happen until 2 weeks later when we were not in WDW. So we had an early birthday dinner and later on that night Goofy brought him a Cup Cake and no harm was done.
Then a few months later when we were back at WDW we were at Ohana and it happened to be a week after my Mom's birthday. So we said we were celebrating it and I remember they announced it in the restaurant and etc.
In both situations those trips were not planned around my parents birthdays, because they never asked for the birthday button or the pin. We just picked one restaurant that we wanted to celebrate them at, so who cares if we never went on their actual birthday.
If Disney can celebrate the "Year of a Million Dreams" for over two years, then I think you can wear your pin for more than one day. My birthday was on a Wednesday this year and we celebrated the weekend before. I see no priblem with it.
Well geez. I'm going to tell the CMs when making ADRs that we are celebrating our birthdays too. LOL! Even though our trip is in October and our birthdays are in April and February I figure why not! No one will know and everyone can celebrate their birthdays on the trip. I might even get the birthday buttons too and wear them all week. LOL!
How do you get one of these pins? We are going to MK 1day then next day on to DCL. This will be our delayed Honeymoon and our daughters 7thBD will happen on our cruise. I would like for her to have a pin for MK and DCL.

Our November trip was for my Mom's birthday and I had her wear her button all 4 days we were there. We only celebrated her birthday the one day with the placemat and cupcake at Chef Mickey's. And that year her birthday was the week before the trip. (I told her we were going on the trip on her actual birthday.) This year we will be there for her birthday and like 4 days before her birthday we are having dinner at Coral Reef and sshhhh it's a suprise but I'm getting her the diver and the menu there and it won't even be on her actual birthday. I know I'm a naughty girl. Also, my trip in 2005 was my birthday present from my birthday in 2001. So I got the pin but I didn't wear it. I got it more as a sentiment. I know I'm a birthday rule breaker all the way around. LOL.
I see nothing wrong with it, in fact our upcoming trip DH's birthday is a couple days after we leave but I booked the CRT for his birthday the day before we leave for him as a bday treat because he has awlays wanted to go in the castle and dine there. Also, this trip was planned as a celebration of his bday and also a early celebration of our wedding anniversary and we plan to celebrate both those things while we are there even though it will not be on the exact days.
