I know that I'm waaaaaay behind in reporting about my December AKL CL trip, but I just had to jump in here to answer a question about AKL drinks.

All the bartenders at Jambo and Kidani have the recipe for the Victoria Falls Mist. (I think it is in the book of drinks, which can be found at each bar.)

The Nahtazu was a specialty drink served at AKL when it first opened. There are two bartenders, who have worked at the Uzima Falls pool bar since the AKL opened, that have the recipe in their "black book."

The Nahtazu is a sweet, delicious drink. It's a little sweeter than the Victoria Falls Mist.

I always carry the recipe with me when visiting the AKL. :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

Nahtazu:

3/4 ounce Malibu Rum
3/4 ounce Melon Liquor
2 ounces Sour or Daiquiri Mix
4 ounces Pineapple Juice

Shake together over ice. Splash with 1/4 ounce of Chambord.
Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.

Hey there, Kathy!

Yes, you are way behind in telling us about your trip. Soooooo - how was it?!! :confused3

My friends... this time tomorrow I will be in the preop room getting ready for my surgery....

I am a little nervous and feeling a little nausea but other than that I am ready to feel better... So any good thoughts and little prayers would be greatly appreciated.

omg, I'm so sorry I missed this! I hope you're ok! Keep us posted

I believe TyRy did this recently. Maybe she will check in and give you her review (and the current cost!) :thumbsup2

We did this in Oct and loved it so much it's the only thing we're booking in June...It's $25 pp and totally worth it:thumbsup2

Thank you! I printed it out to take with us :goodvibes.

Thanks! I was hoping there was something unique to AKL. Sorry you had to respond to the same question :upsidedow.

Not a problem. I assumed I had not answered it well! Never be sorry to ask until you get the answer you had hoped for. :goodvibes

Thanks - I love this thread. Although I don't know all the players, its friendly and I've enjoyed reading through it. DH and I are staying at AKL early next month and this thread and the DIS boards in general are keeping me sane :goodvibes.

That wine tasting sounds like fun and then do the culinary tour afterwards!

thank you!!!!

When we came back last month we had a blanket that carried the smell of Kidani home with us. Sadly the smell is gone :sad2:

Does anyone know where you can get the scents they use in the resorts?

The company, Scent Air provides the scent for the BC Lobby, I would assume they would provide the scent for AKL perhaps? The scent in BC is Green CLover and Aloe.....hope that points you in the right direction.

Link to list of names of the scents....http://www.scentair.com/services-systems-scents/

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

Mother Nature is playing games with us! It was 70 degrees here yesterday; all the downtown eateries had their outdoor seating full to the brim and windows and doors were flung wide. I know she is teasing us, but I don't want it to end. (I even ordered a snowblower in hopes that it thwarts any major Nor'easters with record-dumping snows!)

 Hope everything went well.

Well, DH & I are officially AKL converts. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED OUR 1st STAY THERE!!

We were there for 5 nights in december, and we have now decided to switch our october trip to december, to AKL .:woohoo:

:thumbsup2

That's the larger problem.

If you're at Jambo, try Victoria falls, first. Ask if anyone working knows how to make one (they have the stuff, still, in the bar to make it).

THEN try the pool bar.

I've had better luck at VF.

I haven't found anyone, either at the lounge (by Saana) or the pool bar, at Kidani, who knows how to make one.

It IS on the sweet side...but not OVERLY sweet.

I remember I liked the Victoria Falls Mist a little bit better....my wife preferred the Nahtazu.

That's why I couldn't find that drink on our last trip. I couldn't remember the name but I knew it wasn't anything listed.

:rotfl2: DH said that was a wasted hour when we went. I thought it was pretty cool but he wasn't impressed. I even got my picture taken with DeeVee :lmao:

:lmao: This summer one of our neighbors kept burning something outside at night which smelled just like AKL. It was so nice sleeping to that smell.:cloud9:
