Yep, there are zebras. And wild hogs (my favorite!) and pelicans, and tons of others. I think the the Arusha Savannah is missing the Ostriches, Okapi, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill (if that's not correct, I know there is one large bird that is on the furthest side of Kidani in their own enclosure), and the Bontebok if I'm remembering correctly (which is over by the flamingos) There is a huge variety on the Arusha Savannah.



I remember reading about someone who had a problem with gluten, and although they were able to get her something to eat, they had to tell the CL staff 30 minutes before they were planning to go and eat. It was quite a pain in the rear. There was no variety, it was what they brought her and that was it. You will probably get much better service with the dining plan, because the chefs at the restaraunts go out of their way with people and allergies. I'm sorry about the Sunrise Safari.

You will LOVE the Wanyama Safari! One of the women on our tour (which is a small group - another benefit!) had dietary issues and the Jiko chef really catered to her! She was well cared for and quite happy!

The Sunset Safari is just amazing! You will get amazing views! I don't think you can use the dining plan for it though. Will that mess up your plans?

How absolutely wonderful that everything worked out! Those wonderful DVC people! We'll be at SSR at the end of your trip. Dec. 9-12. It was the only thing available, but now I'm excited to see a new place. And now you'll be able to see the Christmas decorations! Have you been during that time before?

Alison - I am glad that you were able to reschedule your trips without too much trouble! You will LOVE WDW during the holidays! This will be our first time in 15 years that we have not been there over Christmas. I will miss it a lot. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone! It just took a little smack of reality for me to realize what's important. WDW is magical at different times for different reasons. I've wanted to go at Christmas so instead of next year we'll go this year. Fran is healing slowly. There's no way I could have got her on a plane, I can barely get her into the living room. She's so doped up on Morphine she can't even stay awake or form a cognitive thought. She's rambling about ridiculous things, so I'm glad we made the right decision. Too bad I will miss you Brandi, but Pam perhaps we might meet up for coffee or an adult beverage!

Trip was great! Loved finally meeting my friends from Sorcerer Radio in person, they quickly became like family

I'll try and answer any questions that you have..Althouhg my time @ F & W remains a little hazy

Thats the last trip for a while We postponed our trip to Germany and the wedding again, unless a miracle happens...Found out a little too late we shouldnt be going on this trip, but at that point, very little could be done.. Had a great trip, but there was this cloud hanging over me, slept very little the entire trip, never sleep through the night, not even once..I'm even more exhausted than when I left.

Boss kept texting me on vaca changing my schedule I was supposed to be off today, and work the overnights on the weekend...Changed his mind, and put my schedule back to normal,then changed it again and I'm working today and the overnights on the weekend I've only been back from WDW 10 hrs and I want to pull my hair out
I really need today off, even if it means the dreaded weekend overnight shift.
I texted him to see if there is a way...I replied to his texts while on Killamajaro Safari on Fri, the least he can do answer me now .

Sorry to always sound like a downer, trip really was awesome, I'm not always in a bad way, just a lot lately. Hope you can understamd

Thanks everyone for your wonderful wishes!!!!!! I couldn't keep track and quote them all because I'm just reeling from today. We canceled and booked so many vacations in about three hours that I don't know what to think!

Originally we canceled our trip and got the most amazing pixiedust! They put our points back into regular points instead of holding points, it was a one time courtesy thing. Not that we will do this often or hopefully ever again!

We tried for Aulani and they had availability in January, but our airfare was only good for Orlando. We would have had to pay a lot of money to get our Frequent Flyer miles back in our account and then pay a lot more for airfare to Hawaii. Since we could just move our trip to Orlando and they had SSR availability for early December, we took that. I had planned to go to WDW in December next year and F&W this year, we'll just flip the two.

So now we are arriving at 7AM on December 4th and departing via DME at 10AM on Dec 12th. We can see the holiday decorations and hopefully enjoy some of the dining experiences we hoped for during out last trip. Unfortunately we will not be able to experience any of the Food & Wine experiences I had planned, we will have to wait for next year, but hey, at least I am going to get to WDw right?

Well 'Ohana is booked for my entire trip. But so far I've gotten Via Napoli for lunch and Yachtsman for dinner our second night. I want to see a lot of the resort lobbies and the decorations, so maybe I should book us into Jiko! I could get some ZDs at the Mara

Haven't had time to read up on all the thirty or so pages since I came back but figured I'd check in.

Stayed at SSR in a 1 BR, which was semi-handicapped accessible. I say semi because it was slightly weird. Roll-under sink in the kitchen, freezer on the bottom with a door on the fridge (most pull out). Lots of room to maneuver. Humongous bathroom, again with roll-under sink. The faucet for the shower was at waist height, and the drying line also was low. Grab bars in the shower. So far, so good.

BUT - what was weird was that the shower was a tub, not a roll-in. No seat. No way could someone in a chair climb over the edge of the tub, or have to stand in the shower!

And the only lights in the BR were table or floor lamps, with switches on the top! I'm 5' 8", and I had to get out of bed and stand up to turn off the light next to me!

I didn't like the fact that SSR has outside hallways; it feels more like a mod than deluxe. But otherwise it was great - DH liked playing golf a stone's throw from the room!

Also, the rumors are true - there was free WiFi for non-DVC guests at SSR, and also at GF. I logged into my iPhone while having dinner at Citrico's.

Loved F&W, loved Robert Irvine!

To those with curve balls being thrown at ya, I really hope things work out. Sometimes a curve ball helps to put things in perspective and show you what is really important.


We are finally, in our house with tv and internet. Out of 60 or so channels only about 15 are in English and that is half the time. Nothing like watching Disney and the cartoons in Japanese On the plus side, the kids might actually pick up some Japanese
