It's always good when the doctor thinks it should heal up quickly. Usually they're not that positive. Did they give her any pain meds? Or is the miserable because of the infection itself?

I think Elin might understand it the most. Fran has been a lot like Bob since the second or third year we got together. When she goes down, she goes down HARD. I'm used to slow trips with lot of downtime in the room (one of the reasons we bought DVC so we could stay in nice places where I could cook for us and enjoy the room instead of the parks.) Tomorrow is the day that I will do all the cancellations, since our flights were on points we have a certain number of days to reuse them. As I said our DVC points will go into holding. I'll have to argue with US/IOA to get money back on our hotel and see if Disney is benevolent about refunding our F&W stuff. I do have an in there because I just went through a debacle with the whole Cat Cora thing.

Otherwise I think we'll be OK with everything else except that whole Disney F&W special events.

Alison (and Fran)... I am so sorry that you all have to cancel this trip. I do understand how hard it is to make plans very far out. Sometimes you just have to "eat" the disappointment and make the bets of it. I hope that Fran continues to improve and you all can find something enjoyable to do closer to home.

And, the Swolphin Food & Wine Classic is (hopefully) October 5-6, 2012. That is the dates that have been bandied around by the staff there and Laura (RachelTori) has said she feels it is a pretty good bet it will be those two days.

Everytime I've stayed, I've had a Sunset Savannah view. Was wondering what animals are on the Arusha savannah? Are there zebras? I remember seeing giraffes and ankole cattle from the lookout, but I can't remember what else I saw. Refresh my memory as I have a trip back home in Feb!

So I changed my reservation from AKL CL to Arusha View with Deluxe dining I guess cl wasn't sure how to deal with my food allergies. I'm a little sad about it and probably should have waited till the morning when regular staff is on but after six different phone calls from the resort to me, each with a different result of how they would deal with my allergies I just decided maybe it was best not to make it so complicated for everyone. As one of the staff members put it if you go directly to the restaurants you'll have direct contact with the chefs. So I figured maybe that would be best. At least I'll still have the view right? I'm a bit sad about not being able to go on the Sunrise Safari.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful wishes!!!!!! I couldn't keep track and quote them all because I'm just reeling from today. We canceled and booked so many vacations in about three hours that I don't know what to think!

Originally we canceled our trip and got the most amazing pixiedust! They put our points back into regular points instead of holding points, it was a one time courtesy thing. Not that we will do this often or hopefully ever again!

We tried for Aulani and they had availability in January, but our airfare was only good for Orlando. We would have had to pay a lot of money to get our Frequent Flyer miles back in our account and then pay a lot more for airfare to Hawaii. Since we could just move our trip to Orlando and they had SSR availability for early December, we took that. I had planned to go to WDW in December next year and F&W this year, we'll just flip the two.

So now we are arriving at 7AM on December 4th and departing via DME at 10AM on Dec 12th. We can see the holiday decorations and hopefully enjoy some of the dining experiences we hoped for during out last trip. Unfortunately we will not be able to experience any of the Food & Wine experiences I had planned, we will have to wait for next year, but hey, at least I am going to get to WDw right?
