Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you guys know that we had a lovely stay at AKL from Dec 19-22nd. I so love that resort and my husband really enjoyed it as well. We had Club Level which really means "access to the Club lounge" because the rooms are on the complete opposite side on a separate floor but I already knew that (thanks to you guys) and we survived. The CM at the Club were wonderful and the selection of snacks and drinks was nice although I wish the snacks and breakfast would change a little each day....just add something different maybe. We had a lovely room location right infront of a watering hole and a feeding spot so we always had animals around. My 2 year old loved going out to the balcony and seeing his new friends. And I loved the DVD player in the room - it's such a lifesaver with an overly active toddler!

On the 20th, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy came to visit the resort and that was fun. The line was super long but i was a good mom and stood in line for my 2 year old to get a nice pic with Mickey & Minne. Selfishly (and please don't flame me), I wish Club Level guests could get a special VIP pass or maybe a private M&G at the Lounge (please, don't shoot..I just think it would be a nice perk :-) ). They also had a Photopass photographer right by the Christmas tree every day so that was nice.

We left the 22nd to board the Disney Dream - the DCL people working at AKL could be a tad bit nicer but they were ok (just not as wonderful as I would like for Disney standards...I'm picky)

Can't wait to go back to AKL - I'll be there with my BFF next September. My husband has decided that he wants to try another resort. Although he enjoyed AKL he said he preferred Contemporary Club Level better and now wants to try the Poly or Boardwalk (I think the distance and also no difference in the size of the rooms may have influenced him :confused3 ) but overall wonderful trip! Thanks to everyone for all your helpful tips and suggestions. Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday and Happy New Year!

Glad you had a good time ... We are excited for our first visit to AKL ... One suggestion if you have a 2 year old that likes the beach or water instead of the Boardwalk I suggest the Beach Club we were just there in Aug and we LOVED IT !! the pool there is amazing !! and we had a nice big room !

Let us know how the Dream was !!

So glad you had a nice trip! How was the Dream?

The Dream was a "dream"....it was so amazing and I'm in love. I had never cruised before so it was my first time but wow, what an experience. The Ship is absolutely beautiful, the staff was amazing (we had a wonderful wait staff and our room hostess was the sweetest thing), the splash area for the kiddies was a lot of fun, Aqua Duck was a blast, the nursery was wonderful for my two year old (he mainly slept there, we would drop him off at night) and the food was soo yummy! And of course, the highlight of the trip for me was Castaway Cay.

Christmas on the ship was lovely - they tried to make it really nice - Santa stopped by Christmas day to take pictures, they were serving Christmas goodies in the atrium all morning, everyone was just in a really great mood and Christmas dinner was delicious. They also had more characters walking around and not so much structure as the days before. I did think the character appearances were lacking - would love to see more besides the usual I guess and maybe leave them out a little longer but I know it's a little harder on the ship.

One thing we wouldn't do again, Atlantis Beach Day @ Nassau - just not our thing. The beach was nice but that's about it - it was too crowded, the food was horrible and we would have enjoyed more time on the Ship. Also the exit procedure off the ship was a bit hectic and crazy but we learned and will do better next time.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant, there's just so much to say!! K, I'm done now :wizard:

No, we love the Magical Express! I meant the cab from our house to Logan Airport in Boston usually cost about $40, but if we take public transportation instead, it's only $5 each:thumbsup2

Ok, we did it:scared1:

Booked 4 nights in a studio savanna view @ Kidani..Waitlisted for Jambo Concierge studio, but aren't getting our hopes up 5 months out.

We are taking some of the cash my aunt left me to pay for the flight that we dont have enough miles for, and for food...We plan on only CS meals, as it's cheaper and we dont see the value in getting a TIW for this one trip. We HAVE to do Sanaa as it's our fav, but appetizers and drinks, no entrees.
No parks, just chilling at the resort: pool, etc..Pool bars mostly:rotfl2: We'll do monorail crawl one day, we'll do DTD during the day, and stroll the BW one night.

We must be insane, but if we didnt already have 4 nights boarding for Beauty pre-paid, I wouldnt even be considering it.

Awesome! Have a great trip!

....sounds like you had a pretty good time - awesome!

Jen, sounds like you have it all planned out. I think it will be great for you guys to get out and enjoy. I am trying to talk David into a resort only trip, I want to do AKL CL and just hang out...

Honestly, you've got to try it, its relaxing for sure...And AKL is perfect for it...Either there or I could do SSR but any other resort I'm not sure how long I could stay and not go to a park...I couldnt be at an Epcot resort thats for sure:laughing:

Awesome!!!! I don't think it's insane at all. It'll be really nice to get away and relax, and hopefully the knowledge that this is happily waiting for you will get you through until them :) Is the work situation any better?

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying. The taxi from WDW to MCO is about $40 too so I just assumed that's what you were talking about. I thought, why would they take public transportion, they must have had a horrible experience for that to happen.
:thumbsup2

:rolleyes1 I think you have an idea...

Sounds like a great time!

That would be really relaxing.
:thumbsup2

Awesome! Have a great trip!

I have heard a rumor that the BIG surprise is that MK (or possibly all the parks) will be open for the entire 24 hour period on Leap Day. Let's see if that is true!

We always watch it but tend to tivo it for the most part and fast forward until right at midnight....
