Is it Possible to Speak to a Human at Amazon?

All of our packages are being delivered to the next street over. We have the same house number, but our address is ST & there's is CT. DH spoke to the delivery driver once. He said he'd take care of it, but they delivered to the wrong address again today. This is getting old for our neighbors & us. I'm considering canceling Prime. I tried the chat feature, but all I got were useless AI replies about sending me a refund. There was no way to address the delivery issue.

Do you have the app installed on your phone and push notifications set up? Majority of the time I get a push notification that my item was delivered, ideally it includes a photo of the delivery and then asks "how was the delivery" or something to that effect. While I doubt that would ultimately solve your issue it at least could be a method to continuously give feedback related strictly to the delivery of the item rather than an issue with the item itself.

If you're getting all of your packages delivered that way it makes me think something is up with your address and how it is telling the drivers to go to because that wouldn't be a specific delivery driver issue (it would be highly coincidental to have the same Amazon driver for all of your packages). If that's the case that can happen across different delivery companies to people, even if it's not happening to you with other ones I just mean to others it's the post office that can't get their items to the correct address or UPS or FedEx, etc.

Maybe experiment with retyping your address in the system as the default address. For example since you said ST maybe spell STREET if you have it in there right now at ST. Our street is place and sometimes systems do better with Place vs PL and sometimes better with PL vs Place

I agree with the suggestion to go into your Amazon account, re-enter your address spelling out the word Street, and under “add delivery instructions “ I would also add that you live on Street, not Court and perhaps add something specific to your home like “leave by the green front door” (hoping the neighbors don’t have the same thing).

USPS, FedEx & UPS all deliver packages to our address. Amazon is the only company that takes them to the wrong address. We've had the same address in their system for 7 years. They always delivered our packages here, until this month. All of a sudden, they all started going to the other address. I'll try typing out the street instead of abbreviating it. It can't hurt, but that was never a problem before. :confused3 Thanks for the help.

Edited to correct typo.

Awesome, thanks!

Thanks, I'll try both of those suggestions.

I’ve definitely chatted with real people, you might have to type something like speak to a representative.
In the past, it's always been a person, so I was surprised to receive AI responses. I wonder, if that's their new policy or its just luck of the draw. If I try again, I'll try your suggestion. Thanks

Good luck getting a live person in chat who can actually speak English. I have had 2 examples in the past where it was nearly impossible to interact with someone at Amazon. Those supposedly "AI" generated chat things are useless and they only seem to be able to answer REALLY basic questions. If I could figure it out on my own, I wouldn't need to chat with them. I had a question on a product description where the listed information posted contradictory statements. The real person I FINALLY got in their chat room clearly had limited grasp of English but offered to help me track the shipping progress once I placed the order............ummm not what I was asking............gave up and ended up ordering it from some other site.

Another time ordered one box of 8 steak knives and they over shipped it and sent me THREE boxes (24 knives) but only charged me for 8. I wanted to return the extra 16 since it was THEIR error and I hadn't paid for them. Was nearly impossible to get someone online who could tell me how to return it. Seems like returning an item you paid for to get a credit is common, but returning an OVERSHIPMENT you DIDN'T pay for isn't something they expect to have to deal with. I now only use Amazon to order something I can't find anywhere else. Things are OK unless you have an issue...........then good luck trying to get it resolved..........LOL.

The phone # I use for them is 866-216-1072. Just keep asking for a representative and sooner or later you'll get one on the line. I've had to ask for a supervisor numerous times to solve issues.

I detest the AI chatbots esp. b/c there are specific situations that they cannot deal with and it's evident from the first couple of clicks on an existing order but the system makes you go through a million clicks to finally get to a live customer rep. the situations that absolutly fall into this category involve any food orders b/c their AI system defaults to their policy that no returns are permitted due to food regulations. I get that but when items are missing from the order or the boxes are crushed and spilling out contents/jars broken-i expect a refund despite their AI's interpretation of policy.

I think you can add a note for the driver when you order. I don't know if it will be some place obvious for him to see. But, you can try, "This is going to Main STREET, not Main COURT which is one street over."

I detest the AI chatbots..............

Me too. I have yet to use them on ANY site where they actually are helpful and enable you to solve a problem. The first thing I do is type 'representative' and at least on some you get a live person to ask your question. Routine questions (which is all any of those automated replies seem to be able to handle) don't require you to interact with them and perhaps they do get a lot of people asking basic questions. Generally, it seems to me when you have to ask something that is out of the ordinary, NONE of those automated reply systems accomplish anything and are just a waste of time. As with any of those phone systems, with the push 5 for this or 7 for that.................seems mostly like a way to frustrate callers so they just eventually hang up.

I believe you can too but I did just read that Amazon is removing specific delivery instructions for those saying to deliver to back door (and I believe there was another one they are removing) due to driver safety concerns. The delivery instructions rely on the delivery driver to read them and if they are consistently getting their deliveries to the next street over even though CT is very clearly not ST it would be surprising if they then suddenly consistently got their deliveries correct just by putting in delivery instructions. I don't think it hurts to add it in there however, more info would at least cover their side when/if they ever can actually speak to someone and the issue gets cleared up.

We get our deliveries about 50 percent of the time.
The package is usually within 5 houses from ours.
This would be even more inconvenient if we did not know or get along with neighbors!

this is rather amusing to me b/c we had to purchase (from Amazon :rotfl: ) 2 separate metal signs to install on the side door to our attached garage b/c amazon (in particular) kept leaving packages there...in the snow. it made no sense-it's very obviously not the front door to the house and where any delivery driver parks you can see what is the front door to the house (it's fewer steps than to the garage's side door)-in the winter months we actually have heated mats that lead from where delivery people park so there's a clear pathway but no, they would walk through many inches of snow and leave deliveries.

We've had weird deliveries at times like to the side of the garage that would be hidden from anyone's knowledge so it's anyone's guess why they would choose that over you know the front door, at least the steps to the front door, one time we had cat dry food delivered to in front of our garage door (that was a one time thing) but this specific situation is for people for who had instructions to delivery to the back or side door. Amazon is viewing things like that to be a safety issue for their drivers, things like encounters with dogs or injuries to the driver. From what I read you could do a side door if it's visible from the driveway.

What situation you had and what I have had randomly is more like low effort on the part of the driver rather than what I'm talking about. That said if it's in the winter my thought goes to concerns over ice that they may be hesitant, a defined path vs seeing a safe path. Just a guess. Presumably your sidewalk to your front door and your steps to your front door are clear as well. I know for us with our driveway there are times that it's safer to walk through the grass with the snow than it would be to walk on the driveway due to patchy or solid ice, same with the steps/path to the front door. We use ice melt but the conditions have to be right in order for that to fully melt/prevent ice build up. Just talking out loud here.

Presumably your sidewalk to your front door

there's no such thing as a sidewalk within 10 miles of my home :rotfl: the crazyness that struck us with these deliveries is when you pull up to the only area that a delivery vehicle would stop you can clearly see a wide walkway on the concrete driveway leading up to and on the front porch that despite what can be a couple of feet of snow on the adjacent lawn/a couple of inches of ice on the concrete is entirely devoid of snow and ice 24/7 (amazing product).
