Jen - IPO can book your dining reservations for you - so, you won't have to do that - I guess if you can swing wanyama, they can do that - not sure what else you need/want them to do? Enjoy it either way!!! Glad to hear all is going good with you! :hug

I don't really know what or if I want them to do anything...I've got about 3 week before they contact me anyway, so I'm not worried about it...Glad all is well with you too:goodvibes

Hey all:goodvibes
Happy Tuesday! My day off:woohoo:
So glad things are working out with you and the job. how long until you see if it goes perm?

You know, I was just thinking about Elin and Bob - hope all is well with both of you. I agree, the pic you posted the other day was great!!!

I used them last year for dinning reservations and for helping with special stuff for the anniversary.

that is plenty of time to decide.... anyway, I am glad you guys are getting away for a bit, sorry the\at we will just miss each other... We are there Oct 2-7 for F&W.

Bob is making good progress. :) I just emailed Elin that she needs to check in here! :thumbsup2

:wave2:

Sorry I have been MIA... but real life has gotten in the way. Having Bob back in Fredericksburg has been a blessing and a hindrance to my free time! I have to assume that things are on an even keel since I haven't gotten any other emails or phone calls. I know that many of you are busy planning trips and trying to make things work out best for your families... And some of you are working hard at your new jobs. I do think of you... just not a lot of time to post.

I"m glad to hear they are working with you to come up with a solution - I'm certain they WILL find one!! Just hang in there. And, not to make light of the situation or how you feel - but, your trip is still a LONG way off, maybe they aren't "putting you off" or "not calling you back" right away, because they probably have A LOT of people to deal with NOW - or in the very near future. I'd like to believe they DO know what you need and will do everything they can to ensure it works for you! But, Dec. is a long way off when they may have pressing matters to get to for those traveling right now. I hope that makes sense and maybe offers you a little bit of encouraging thoughts - Good Luck and keep us posted!!! I'm sure they are just busy and NOT ignoring you or your needs!! :flower3:

You are 100% right, thanks for the reality check. I just am a bit worried with the end of my vacation being Christmas Weekend. :santa::eek: We have never traveled during that time and we have to deal with families being upset along with the travel plans. But we finally decided what counts is being with our immediate family right now, and we will be home the day after Christmas to share with everyone else.:grouphug:

I am so glad that everything is going well. I know that I am new and really don't "know" you yet, but I have been through everything you are doing, plus more. I can be a shoulder anytime and or a book of knowledge all the way to heart transplants and more. I can be a friend anytime of the day. If you want my email, PM me. If you don't, it won't hurt my feelings, I would totally understand. I can even answer questions here, but most of all you have my prayers and . Hope your day is filled with little steps of progress!

Athenna, it sounds as if your trip will be just wonderful. Can you do the bottle return in your state, and put your change in a hidden area. It's sometimes easy to come up with the money for the Safari without even realizing you are saving. If plans change and you "dont" go to a movie one night, throw that money in also, even take-out money and cook spaghetti. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can do it!:flower3:

I've asked on the budget boards, probably not the right place too...:lmao: but
I want to apply for a credit card to make renting the van for August easier.

We have been credit card free for over 15 years. I have no clue what is the best out there. I know I really don't want a yearly fee, unless you can tell me the perks are worth it.

So does anyone have a card (true credit card) that they would recommend?

Oh, good question!!! What is more important to you -- cash back? airline miles? hotel points? There are lots of cash back CC's that don't require an annual fee. I love my Starwood points so I have an Amex for that (but it also has a $65 annual fee, up from $45 last year :headache:)

Here's a link to a reliable site that I check several times a year: http://www.bankrate.com/credit-cards.aspx

That site might help you find something that will work for your family. I'm sure others here will have some good suggestions. :goodvibes

Thanks, I am going to go check out that site. We were young when we first got our credit cards way back when. Didn't care who they came from etc. Hard lesson learned, so we totally did without. We have been cash/debit card since then. No money, No get!! But the only true way to get all the good deals with car rentals is a credit card. I could have a 1,000,000 on my debit and still can't get the codes to work. Okay, I don't have 1,000,000 on it, but it just sounded good.:rotfl2:

Looking at the site and I have a quick question if anyone can answer it.

Can you earn points/perks if you pay bills on your card. Say I pay all my bills on the card and then pay the whole balance off pre-interest? Do you perks/credits for that? Or is it just purchases and things like hotels, gas, groceries, clothing, etc.

Just stopping in to introduce myself and say HI! We are staying at AKV-Jambo for the first time in January, and I have no clue what to do to make the time go by faster. We have loved AKL from the second we stepped foot in it two years ago for our Boma ADR, and being able to stay there has been a dream of ours.

Anyways, HI! :)

:welcome: I am pretty new here also to this thread. Our first stay at AKL was in February and I am counting down the days until we can go back also. We are looking at the week before Christmas or the week after New Years.

Be careful, one stay and you will be addicted!!

Forgot to add, everyone here is very, very nice. It's a great place to hang out. Hope you stay for a long time!!

Yeah, I have plenty of time to decide if/what I want IPO to do for me....Yup, we will just miss each other, maybe next time:hug:

If I understand your question correctly, yes - any amounts you charge, once they hit your CC acct, you will receive the applicable perk once the billing cycle ends. I never carry a balance on a credit card. I charge things like my phone bills, grocery store purchases, hotels, car rentals, etc. When the bill arrives, it shows perks earned on all charges for that month. You have a grace period of usually 3 weeks before any interest would be charged. Just make sure you pay the "statement" balance in full before the due date. :thumbsup2

WOO HOO, Look at my post count:banana: Close to 5000 and it only took me just over 6 years:rotfl2:

Welcome. For us it was the same. We had a dinner at Boma with friends and fell in love with AKL. We have stayed there twice now and hopefully will stay there again before too long. We are heading for the West Coast in fall and will stay at Grand Californian. This is not quite the same, but at least it was designed by the same architect.
