Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

I think the two nastiest people in the Royal Family were just interviewed by Oprah.
They might be residually royal, but seeing as they themselves quit their royal role (without even telling the royal family up front what they intended to do) and seeing as they themselves keep complaining about their royal connections, an idea similar to what was mooted in 1936 after the Abdication Crisis - referring to former King Edward VIII as Mr Edward Windsor - does come to mind: Mr. Harry Mountbatten-Windsor would be a similar solution.

Here is the video for anyone to look at if they like. She walks past the Queen at 2:04:30. The Queen is clearly identifiable in a lime green suit in the second row on the left, and the video clearly shows Meghan walking right past her without stopping or curtsying.

Yes, that is the same video I watched. The bow and curtsy are between the end of God Save the Queen and the start of the recessional music at 2:04:19. It’s very quick. It’s before they start walking, so yes, she walks by without curtsying because she had already done it. It took me watching it a few times to really see it because of the horrible camera angle. I think the main reason it was so different was because at St. Pauls or Westminster, when they returned after signing the registry, they were coming from behind the altar and it made sense to stop during the walk, whereas at St. Georges they were coming out from a side room directly across from where the Queen was seated so it made sense to do it before the walk. I won’t fault you if you can’t see it though. :flower3:

Or Mrs. and Mr. Meghan Markle.

Maybe they are offering comfort to Ghislaine Maxwell for all of that trauma she suffered from seeing Jeffrey take advantage for all of those young women. Not dissimilar to the trauma that Meghan encountered.

People who get paid $7,000,000 do it and I would too.
...while they complain about being cut off financially.....

Umm...they were the ones who decided to quit their public role; so what would they expect to continue to be paid for, if they are the ones who wanted to quit? (I don't quite get the point they are supposedly making...)

I think the palace wasted a opportunity to come into the future. People want to blame a single woman, but I blame an instiutution. The first woman of color to marry into the family and this is the result. They have always been resistant to change.

Meghan is an American woman of color... this was bound to end badly. Shw was raised with American values and outlook about how your life is yours to make what of it what you will. And then she married into a family that is all about keeping with tradition and not changing.
You could have left it as Meghan is an American & IMO it would have been more accurate. I disagree with the people who say she isn't a good actor. I thought she was great on Suits. When I heard they were engaged, I told my DH this wouldn't go well. At the time, I had no idea she was mixed race & didn't care. The concern I had was that she was an American celebrity. Not that I care about their personal life, but I was concerned we would have yet another situation of other countries finding a poster child for an "ugly American" on a grand scale. We've all heard this term, when other countries refer to us. I always think they need to be exposed to more Americans. Most (not all) of us aren't like what they perceive us to be. Celebrities are among those who are different from the majority of us. That said, I'll admit that I think not recognizing a monarchy is one of the things our ancestors did right. I can't imagine financially supporting someone & treating them special simply due to who their parents are. You can forget getting me to curtsey before another human, unless they're also curtseying before me. I wouldn't even consider signing up for that life & I'm just a nobody American. There was no way this was going to work out for a privileged American celebrity, regardless of her race. If I could see this coming, they should have been able to.

From what I've read, she wants to go into politics. There was a story out -- who knows if it's true -- that she was on the phone for a long time with Gavin Newsom lobbying for the appointed senate seat vacated by Kamala Harris. So I guess she's an actress casting herself as a fierce warrior against racism, willing to take on even the most powerful institutions. Certainly she's been making the right friends to promote herself in that direction. (Clooneys et al.)

I have a feeling we in the U.S are going to be heckled by Ms. Markle for a very long time. I can't imagine what Harry the sidekick will do.
Makes sense. Qualified as the rest of them. ☹

... You can forget getting me to curtsey for another human, unless they're also curtseying for me.

Totally understand this! ::yes::

I might be able to curtsey if I was getting 'knighted' (so-to-speak :D), but I'd have to tell myself it was purely ceremonial and was being offered to a role rather than another person, IYSWIM. ...TBH, even then, I'd feel very uncomfortable, so, on reflection, I'm not sure I could.

It was the Royals blabbering about how worried they were the baby would be dark skinned.
I'll admit I'm not a big Royal follower, but I haven't read anything that tells us who said that & what they said. Regardless, Archie looks 100% caucasian, so I don't know why they would have judged him in any way based on his skin color, after he was born.
