Well, he kept the Free Spirit. I'm thinking it has to be for ratings; and then he gave the first impression rose to someone who doesn't want to be there - off to a nice start.. Looks like way too much drama is coming.

All I could think about when he was driving with his little girl though was tighten that car seat harness! People here last week were worried about coats and car seats how kids could fly out.....

Wow, she was hands down my favorite bachelorette. Everything she said about herself was what I thought she was...the exact opposite of what most bachelorettes say about themselves.

Funny thought: My son wanted to know what the demographics are for this show. I checked and was surprised that it is No 1 for ALL KEY WOMEN demographics. I wasn't surprised because even on this thread the fans are very diverse, nice to know I'm the correct demo for SOMETHING!

Who are the KEY women? Chris said he was the most popular in Bachelorette history!

I thought several of the girls were kind of young to already be a step mom...I mean, are they REALLY ready to play mommy?? And did one say she lost her virginity two weeks before the interviews??? I am looking fwd to seeing this season, isn't EveryJUAN?

He is very family oriented, hope the girls can deal with that.

I guess I had a very different reaction about Gia's memorial than everyone else. I found most of the footage and what she said about herself to be the exact opposite to what she really thought and felt, considering she committed suicide. She kept saying love was everything. Love was the answer to everything. But, she was engaged when she died. So love wasn't the answer to it all. Considering how much this devastated her mother, Gia didn't think how much she'd hurt someone who loved her so much. Suicide is often considered a very selfish act. That footage of her mother proves that poor woman will be heartbroken till the day she dies.

The show kept showing footage of Gia talking about how happy and carefree she was. Her mother said how happy Gia was. Obviously not. It was a front and a cover for the immense pain inside. I guess I'm a bit angry. Did she feel she had to always put on a front that she was only happy and the life of the party? That she couldn't share when she was in pain & suffering? So she couldn't reach out for help?

I think she was really sweet and funny, but you could see alot of vulnerability in her. She got alot of bad media attention over her last break up too. Either she was saying alot of things she wished she felt or believed would make things better, or her suicide was supposed to just be a big drama ploy, but no one saved her in time.... either way it is very tragic, especially for her mother.

I just do not get all the Juan Pablo love here. I wonder how long it will take for others to change their tune. His sincerity is a big question mark for me. Maybe another Jake Pavelka type looking for a show business career.

He reminded me of Jake a couple of times, maybe that's what opera girl saw right away.

Interesting, Opera Girl isn't that into Juan Pablo. But, her being stand-offish attracted him instead. I wonder if he likes the challenge? Or if his problem has been going after girls that ultimately are unattainable?

Maybe it was the playing hard to get that attracted him -

All the girls who went home weren't very well endowed on top.

Oklahoma City Girl is having a breakdown. I think she's the one we will see in the bathroom stall crying. BAD move to talk about the recent breakup with her ex-fiance.

She was not ready to be on this show. Tonight was really awkward for her.

I'm glad the elderly home owner went home - she deserves a "real" relationship, not a reality TV show one - she probably needs to get out more.

Third was Andi - the attorney. Second was the realtor with the 8 y/o son from Fla. He said he thought the blonde from Kansas City was the winner (I don't remember her name). Juan could not react of course.

I haven't watched last night's show yet (recorded it), but I saw that my favorite contender didn't get a rose. Oh, well-time to find a new leading contender. I did see the show Sunday night, however, and I was just curious as to how he's a single Dad. Does anyone know? In all the talk on TV I didn't see any mention of an ex-girlfriend or wife. Die or just leave? It seems odd to me that there's no mother in the picture nor any mention of a death. Does anyone know? Like I said, it's just that "inquiring minds" are wondering.

Last night was one of the first times I watched the Bachelor but I got a kick out of it so I figured I'd jump in on the chat here.

Am I the only one who has to give props to Opera Girl? She realistically pointed out that she didn't fall head over heels for him like some of these girls did (especially the ones crying love at first sight when they went home!) I still don't understand why Juan thought she should get the first rose. She didn't appear to be into him AT ALL so where was he getting those vibes from?!

For you more seasoned viewers- do the girls know who the Bachelor will be before they're on the show? The way some of them talked made it sound as if they found out about Juan after they were on the show.

My DH looked up Sharleen Joynt (the Opera girl) and she's the real deal opera-wise. She is a frequent performer at the Metropolitan Opera.

I am a little confused about how she reacted on her one-on-one with him when she seemed so outgoing when he joined the women. She got up from the couch and gave him a drink. Also, the other women talked about how nice she was. It seemed at odds with how she acted with Juan Pablo ... all stand offish and closed. I wonder if something happened to her right before the filming of that scene to rattle her.

I don't think the contestants know who the bachelor will be until they are selected. The audition process takes place while the previous show is airing.

Really? I don't think he has much personality. He just kept saying the same things over and over again. I really WANT to like him because I think he's very cute but so far I just think he's boring and awkward.
