He was with his first wife for a couple of years... and "It just was not going to work out...."
They are 'friendly' and amicable.
I believe she is staying in hiding and is seriously avoiding all of this Bachelorette stuff????

Actually, they were never married. It seems there was never enough there for them to get married, or eventually, to keep seeing each other. Two years after their daughter was born, they split up but remain good friends.

She's a model & actress in Venezuela. I wonder if she lives part time in FL, as that's where Juan Pablo lives? How do they split custody? If she lives down in Venezuela, it's not like they can have joint weekly custody.

So do you think there might be a plant? Like the South American girl? Maybe baby mama? I thought it was odd that he glosses over the whole we had a kid but it wasn't going to work for us. With him bringing his daughter to LA makes me think Mom is probably there someplace.

Ok I know a reach, but wouldn't it be funny?

My DH looked up Sharleen Joynt (the Opera girl) and she's the real deal opera-wise. She is a frequent performer at the Metropolitan Opera.

I'm thinking Opera Girl is a plant. There is just too much that doesn't add up with her.

If you go to her website that Robinb alerted us to and look at her quite extensive and impressive resume, she seems to travel routinely back & forth between Calgary, NYC and Germany. She's going to be BACK at the Metropolitan Opera House this year. Her career is NOT of the level of Orlando Civic Opera company, or some small regional company, where Juan Pablo lives when he's not traveling for his job. She's at the level of being on the best world stages.

I don't see her leaving it all for some tiny city or being content to do so, no matter how burnt out she may feel at the moment. Just as two PP said she would NOT be found on the floor next to a toilet, she's not going to be found away from the big lights. Any husband of hers needs to live where HER job and life takes her.

For Juan Pablo, having a kid, and especially if the Baby Mama lives nearby to share custody, he can't just uproot himself & his daughter to go live with Opera Girl.

So why did she come on the show? What is an interesting coincidence is that Opera Girl was performing in Germany last year and Desiree & the guys went to Munich, Germany too. That could be where one of the producers or crew met Opera Girl and asked her to be on the show.

I am a little confused about how she reacted on her one-on-one with him when she seemed so outgoing when he joined the women. She got up from the couch and gave him a drink. Also, the other women talked about how nice she was. It seemed at odds with how she acted with Juan Pablo ... all stand offish and closed. I wonder if something happened to her right before the filming of that scene to rattle her.

The way Juan Pablo left so suddenly and said to stay there could have rattled her. Maybe she didn't really think he was coming back? She admitted to not feeling an instant spark, maybe she thought he was making a quick escape and she'd have egg on her face as he went off, got "distracted" and ended up talking to another girl, while she was being filmed as still waiting.

Or some production assistant could have been talking to her while waiting and said something stupid to her.

Yes, I too wondered if she could be some kind of 'plant'.
But, if she really is legit, at that level, in opera... I just can't see it???

I did realize that, as a world traveller, Juan Pablo would be attracted to a worldly woman. Especially as a Southern Girl, I was like seriously cracking up at the little bell from North, or South, Carolina... talking in her sweet little southern drawl about how she has never traveled or even been on a plane!

Her behavior though... why she is even there... why she wore that hideous dress (don't tell me an opera star does not know how to pick out a truly beautiful and perhaps even stunning dress)

It is all just so strange!

Do we know for certain that Juan Pablo shares custody year round with his ex? He may just have vacation time with her. If he travels a lot, it would be difficult to work out an arrangement like that.

I just do not get all the Juan Pablo love here. I wonder how long it will take for others to change their tune. His sincerity is a big question mark for me. Maybe another Jake Pavelka type looking for a show business career.

Really? I don't think he has much personality. He just kept saying the same things over and over again. I really WANT to like him because I think he's very cute but so far I just think he's boring and awkward.

I think the whole limo meet and greet is always kind of awkward anyways. I mean, what is there to say? I noticed he said, "How are ya?" a lot. "You look great." And the ever classic....."what's your name?" After they kiss.

Well, I've watched the show now. I'm thinking Sharleen's reaction reminds me of a girl several years ago, who was in The Bachelor with the military (Naval?) Officer. She was always a little standoffish and she ended up being the final choice.
I had to laugh last night though-as the girls came out of the limo, after they kissed/hugged Juan and walked away, he turned around and seemed to watch them a little longer than previous Bachelors had. Methinks he's a Butt man!

I really wanted to like Lucy, the free spirit, based on the short bios on the website. I don't wear makeup and liked her natural look. I have a couple of friends that could be described as free spirits and they are wonderful people.

Did anyone watch the "Behind the Scenes" special last night?

Flower-child free spirit Lucy likes to run around nude. No big surprise there. I must admit - those shots of her frolicking in the yard with the hose and flowers in her hair reminded me of one of those old feminine product commercials.

And when they crashed the viewing parties - one of the girls was gushing over Juan Pablo and she actually said that "this isn't some show - this is real life". Uh, sure. Everybody's real life consists of fancy dresses, mansions, jetting all over the world for fabulous vacation. Uh huh.

Claire is getting the first one-on-one date. Is she the one who got out of the limo with the fake pregnant belly? It's too soon for me to know who's who.

I realize Sean and Catherine are getting married live on tv at the end of the month, but I'm getting tired of them popping up all the time and giving Juan Pablo advice. Enough already!
