We head to WDW yearly. Heading to WDW in Aug.

With all the closures and upcoming changes, is it still worth the price of admission or should we wait until next year?

My kids are huge Star Wars fans but wondering if there is more than just the fireworks?

Well it depends are you getting a one day ticket, multiple day or hoppers ? We went last trip and we had a blast we don't plan on skipping it any trip.

Multi day tickets and no park hoppers

We are doing 1.5 days but we love the shows and Disney Jr for the kids, and Fantasmic and Star Wars. Oh and ToT is my favorite ride!

If your kids are SW fans there is Jedi training(you may have done before), the Launch Bay with a short film, memorabilia, meet and greet with Chewy and Kylo Ren(was Vadar when we were there in Dec.), Jawas wandering through( bring some small shiny objects if you wan to trade with them), and of course Star Tours, but they now have scenes included from the new movie. I believe they were also starting a Galactic Stage Show and the fireworks you mentioned at nt. We love TSMM ,the kids like ToT, DD always does IJ, and have to do Muppets. They also have a new dinner at H&V with Mickey, Minnie, Donald , and Daisy that changes seasonally. We did Christmas, with Santa Goofy greeting you and the others at the tables in fabulous costumes. I guess in Aug. it will be some summer theme.
The only new attraction that has closed was LMA - not sure if Backlot was already closed when you were there last, but we definitely still have plenty to do and wouldn't miss it!

I may be the voice of dissention but I was just there in March. We were able to see one of the last Lights Motor Action show. Now that is shuttered, along with the New York street area. Crowds are much more concentrated around TOT area. If you go to the shows and ride all that's left of the rides then I'd say you could do a day there. But IMO I think the park is a shadow of its former self - lacking the animation attraction, backlot tour, props warehouse, Lights Motor show...

DS13 and I went in June. We only had interest in doing: TOT, RRC, ST, GMR, TSMM and ate lunch. We stayed from opening until about 2. but there was plenty of other things to do, we just didn't feel like it.

If you have a good amount of days at the parks then yes,if you're only there for 3 days then no.The Star Wars fireworks by themselves are almost worth it,then you still have the highlight attractions like TOT,RnRc,TSMM and Star Tours. If the park is open late I can't see myself being there the entire day so maybe you can schedule a day after a late night in MK so you can get some extra sleep in the morning and get to DHS mid day.

Nothing is going to be any better next year.

The only thing that recently closed was LMA and the shops and QS on Streets of America, nothing else is closing, so if you enjoy DHS without LMA then I would say you will have fun and find enough things to keep you happy.
For all info on everything SW related at DHS make sure to follow and ask questions on the thread in my signature

I would say so if you also enjoy the park in general. If all you want are the headliner attractions and then you leave, maybe not. We like to wander around, see the shows, and hit the shops, have lunch or dinner. I know that the fireworks alone would draw me in.

I think before you decide, think about what you consider a value for every park ticket. If you will resent the cost of one day if you can to find enough to do from RD to park close, then drop it. If you are good spending several hours, and will find enough to do in that time, then maybe that day can be the resort swimming etc, day, and spend the whole afternoon and evening there. With FP you can book your must do attractions so you know you have a few locked in.

Like I said in another thread, if ToT is there - I'm there! It's my all time favorite ride, hands down.
Toy Story Mania is so fun too!!
HS is a must do for us. But we have Park Hopper :)

I originally was going to skip, but kids really wanted to do Star Wars stuff. We went yesterday for half a day and now we rearranged our schedule to go a second time late in the evening on another day. There's still plenty to do.

There's no way WE could skip it. Too many of our favorites there that are still operating. ToT, RnRC, TSMM, Fantasmic...

Dan

We often skipped it even before construction. We only go with park hoppers. It's just not a park we truly care for.

There is Launch Bay, Phasma's March, A Galaxy Far, Far, Away stage show (skippable if you aren't in the front), Star Tours, Tattoine Traders, A couple Star Wars food related items on the menu at the Backlot Express, and a Star Wars related store on Sunset Blvd.
