Is HS worth it right now?

I may be the voice of dissention but I was just there in March. We were able to see one of the last Lights Motor Action show. Now that is shuttered, along with the New York street area. Crowds are much more concentrated around TOT area. If you go to the shows and ride all that's left of the rides then I'd say you could do a day there. But IMO I think the park is a shadow of its former self - lacking the animation attraction, backlot tour, props warehouse, Lights Motor show...
I agree. If you have a lot of days in your trip, maybe then but there's better things to do if you are on a week or less visit. Watching stuff being built is slightly more interesting than watching grass grow but only slightly. I liked the Lights Motor show also.

There is Launch Bay, Phasma's March, A Galaxy Far, Far, Away stage show (skippable if you aren't in the front), Star Tours, Tattoine Traders, A couple Star Wars food related items on the menu at the Backlot Express, and a Star Wars related store on Sunset Blvd.
What is Phasma's March? This is the first I've heard of that.

OP- We can not cut out HS..my son is a Star Wars fanatic..plus we love the rides (and may be tall enough for RnRC this year!!! half an inch to go)

To anyone who's been there lately- Compared to September '15, is there anything we will noticeably miss?

We are going 1st week of December

Like others mentioned here, we have people in our group who are huge Star Wars fans, and the Launch Bay, Star Tours ride, Star Wars cupcakes and food at Backlot Express, and fireworks are enough of a draw for us that it's worth a full day during our stay later this month. Plus, DS(11) is finally tall enough for RNR and he LOVES Tower of Terror. And DS(4) loves TSMM, Muppets. (*Edited to note that Baymax was on our to do list but he's in Epcot now - thx for the update).

For Star Wars fans, there are a few cool things added even while some things have shut down. Wandering Storm Troopers that interact with people. I saluted, one turned to me and said "Good!" Another confronted a man saying he was getting a strange reading off this one. Fun. The Launch Bay is the new name of the Animation Courtyard, and has a short film and character greetings. Kylo Ren is SCARY. I was with a group of teenage girls. He crept up and scared one of them. THen stuck his finger in front of her face and demanded she join the dark side. She was tearing up when we were done. Wow. Star Tours has scenes based on the new movie. New Star Wars Fireworks show. We spent a full day there last week.

We are going in Oct. Will they still be doing all this new Star Wars stuff then or is it short term, like the fireworks & shows? I was also contemplating skipping HS on our next trip, but with TSM & Star Wars stuff, we can't. We don't plan on doing a full day though, but then I guess we miss the fireworks. I wonder if you can see the fireworks from the Boardwalk.

I would say yes. The first time we went to WDW (2002) we skipped EPCOT because people on this board said it was for adults, not much to ride, not a lot to do, etc. After doing it when we went the following year I was like, "seriously? Why did people tell us to skip it." I personally feel that going to each park at least once is a requirement on each trip.

I'm not bothering with it till it gets up to speed, esp. with a non hopper ticket.... i don't like feeling like I am trying to fill time after paying a hefty admission. I've been there so many times anyway- if it was a once in a lifetime trip, yeah, I'd go just to see it, but otherwise,no thanks. Couple that with the streetmosphere characters/times being cut down too and I just don't see the point.

This just got me totally excited!!!
I hope the fireworks will be going on in December!

With the shows (especially those geared to younger kids) it could still be a full day park, but for our trip in June we are using it as a 1/2 to 3/4 day park, RD plus FP+, then going back to resort for rest and swim, back to DHS in evening. With all our RD and closing parks, nice to have one day during our trip when we are not so rushed and burning candle at both ends.

4 or more park days, then yes worth it (unless your kids are little and wouldn't do ToT or RR anyhow and you only have 4 park days, then I would do 2 of the 4 at MK). The stuff they closed was stuff we usually skipped anyhow. All of our must ride attractions are still open, it just has less space now to disburse the crowds. We did a 1/2 day last trip and got everything in we wanted to ride with the fast passes (missed participating in Jedi Training because HS was our 2nd park that day). Right now, we are planning a RD to 2pm-ish day for our trip this year (then Disney springs for dinner and shopping). If you have to choose between AK and HS this trip, and Rivers of Light and the other after dark stuff at AK is open by your trip, then I would do AK over HS this year if I could only do 1. With kids MK is always a 2 day park for us. Just so much there. EP/AK/MK/MK if you only had 4 days and no park hopper.

This is purely a personal point of view thing. Some may say it isn't........some like me may say its worth a 1/2 day...........others may say something else. My wife and I love TSMM, RoR, and ToT.........so for us its a park we do every visit. For our November trip we'll be spending at least 1 full day in the park over the 7 days of our trip. It's my nephews first visit and he's gonna love Jedi Training. It's a lost a bit more given the reduction of street performers

There's no correct answer here. :-) All I know is in 2019 this will be at least a 2 day park! :D

We would not ever skip it. TSMM alone is reason for us, but the shows, tot, rnr, st.... My touring plan is PACKED. This is our family's 2nd fav park, behind MK! We do not get hoppers.... We will spend all day there.

Thank you for all your comments.

I am trying to pull up the schedule for HS for Aug. 26th on the WDW web site. I cannot see anything listed regarding ANY Star Wars event. Am I missing something? It does not even show fireworks on their daily schedule of events.

Having some special Star Wars events. parades, etc. would be a deciding factor on whether we would go to this park.

Anyone know?

The beauty of FP+ is that you can sleep in on you DHS day if you want to. Relax by the pool. Have a nice TS resort Breakfast or lunch. Then arrive at DHS, FP+ in hand for the attractions that you want. Be sure to stay for the Star Wars fireworks. They are amazing

I think they're pretty much permanent fixtures now. Launch Bay anyway. And Jedi training still can't be booked in advance. Hopefully the fireworks stick around!

Disney has taken to holding back on information regarding what's going on in the parks. I'd be flexible with your planning because August is still summertime................. :)
