Is Castaway Cay Gilligan's Island?

Hey,

My grandfather owned Gorda Cay, now Castaway Cay and I grew up going there and I never heard any reference to Giligans Island until I did book tours for my novels, Paradise Overdose and South Beach, and then different interviewers asked if my family had owned Gilligans Island. I remember I found some web sight on Gilligans Island that said it was Gorda Cay but I never knew where they got the info. My brother wrote the article in Outside magazine on Gorda Cay and he knew nothing about it either. Certainly my grandfather also did not know anything either.

Have you been back to the island since Disney took it over? How much has it changed? Would you have a link to the article in Outside magazine? The link on the thread takes you to outside magazine but not the article.

I agree. It was also nice to see something different for a change instead of the same 10 questions over and over again. :confused3

TRUTH!!

I find this way more interesting to read, than 20 threads on whether or not the ships carry Diet Pepsi or not.:rotfl2:

Here is the article:

So very interesting and I am SO GLAD that the thread was BUMPED after 11 years--and by the son of the former owner of Gorda Cay! Who cares if it is 11 years old?! This is interesting information!

When DH was stationed in HI, we would joke about be stranded on an island and not able to swim to shore those silly people :rotfl: We so wanted to join them;)

I'm incredibly embarrased to even be typing this, but I need to know...
Last night my DH told me that Castaway Cay was the island shown in the beginning of "Gilligan's Island" and that's why they called it "Castaway Cay". He was told that by friends of ours (who go to WDW and on the cruise several times each year). Is this true?
