Is Boatrights worth the trip if not staying at Port Orleans?

We are wanting to try some new places this trip and this is one place we haven't tried. We have a car and are staying at the BWI so it won't be far but I didn't know how good it was. I never hear anything about this place.

when we stay at French Quarter we like to take the walk over to Boatwrights. Haven't eaten there since 2015 because last year we stayed at Wilderness Lodge. We love the food and the atmosphere is great. I would suggest making ADRs because sometimes the wait is longer than an hour.

We stayed there last week & didn't eat there but we have & it was great! Actually our son was just talking about how much he liked that restaurant & wants to eat there in our next trip. Very good food & nice relaxed atmosphere. If the menu appeals to you then I would say it is worth the trip to POR.

We ate there on our last 2 trips & liked it but we just walked up from POFQ. As far as WDW goes the price is reasonable.

I vote no! We didn't like our first time there, but we decided to give it another try. We still didn't like it! Both times the food was bland and cold. Both times we had very attentive servers, but the food just didn't cut it. With all the options at WDW, this is one we have decided not to repeat again!

Wow, I guess this is a like it or hate it place. We might save this for the next time we are at POR

We have a friend who is a very picky restaurant patron and goes to WDW every year. He told me Boatwrights was the one of the best meals he's eaten in the World. DW and I went and were incredibly disappointed. I am a firm believer that the only thing consistent about Disney dining is it's inconsistency, but in this case, we weren't thrilled with the menu and the quality was poor.

My experience was not good at Boatwrights. I found the food to be salty that night and lacked the flavor I love about Cajun/ New Orleans food. Maybe I was there on an off night, but....just not my favorite.

We found our meal we had there pretty good but not fabulous. My dd's meal was somewhat bland which seems to be the norm on this board. I had the shrimp and grits which was good but have definitely had other shrimp n grits that were better;) I also don't think I'd go out of my way to go back unless we were staying at Riverside. I have a review on it if you'd like to check out it out:

Love or hate seems to be the opinion. No in between. My family loves this place. The last time we are there was august 2016 and the food and service were great. And yes, we are all picky. The Riverside is such a nice resort too, taking the boat from disney springs is a pleasant ride, horse drawn carriages at the resort, it's just another reason to go there before or after dinner. If you've never been there before you should give it a try.

Two trips ago we stayed at Riverside and tried Boatwrights... it was decent. That said, I'd never go out of my way to have it again.

We stayed at POR, but didn't do Boatwrights based on what I have read about it. We used our TS dining credits in the parks.

If you like Cajun food, absolutely. They have 2 GREAT entrees - the rest of the entree menu is average.

We love the gumbo, crawfish etouffee, shrimp & grits and pecan pie. This is the only "must do" meal for our family every trip.
