Is anyone getting as turned off as I am?

Why do people who have a good FP+ experience so often feel the need to dismiss any contrary view with the tired, old "some people can't handle change" canard?

Not to mention ignoring the increase in standby lines.

For the same reason people who hate fast pass + feel the need to say it sucks. No win situation, meanwhile the world rolls on.

That doesn't make sense. If don't like it I should say what then?

I don't however dismiss your experience and defend my opinion of FP+ by belittling you for having a different opinion. I do like change, if I think the change is beneficial. In this case, I don't think FP+ is a winner.

careful you'll be accused of being 'ABSURD'….

You will note I said that your argument is absurd, not you. They qualified their response with "for us" by the way, which gives them a GOOJF card with me. I cannot debate their position because I am not them.

To claim categorically that FP+ is much easier to use than legacy is another thing entirely. Doesn't help when you add the "we fear change" nonsense on the end.

Probably the same reason those that don't like it get upset and call those that do- blinded by pixie dust or drinking the kool-aid. That's just about as tiresome-

Would be nice if we could all just agree that fp+ works for some, not for others. Just like legacy did.

I agree with the bolded. Sadly, many FP+ proponents cannot seem to understand this and think the only reason someone would not like it is because they "fear change." :rotfl2:

One of these days, I'm going to have enough time on my hands to search the entire history of the DIS and compile a comparative analysis of how many FP+ critics have actually made those types of comments ("kool aid drinker" , "blinded by pixie dust" , etc.) compared to how many people have claimed it's a common occurence. I'm confident enough to bet a Mickey Bar that searching those keywords will bring up far more indignant claims of those labels being applied than actual people doing it.

Conversely, searching phrases like "hater" , "Negative Nelly" , "don't like change" , etc., will almost assuredly result in volumes of instances where those terms are being levelled at FP+ critics in a condescending and dismissing way.

But, alas, I don't have that kind of time. So the myth will continue to live on.

play on words from his toung in cheek comment….
I can help you push the right buttons if you like.

I would love to see your FP+ assistance with split stays, linking parties, military tickets, CM Maingates, and all the other complications that I arise from the easy, just push a button system.

Just weighing in...For our family FP+ is the better option for us at this point of time and it is much easier, again for us. I had no difficulty navigating the system on line and love that we no longer feel the need to be at RD to ride TSM or Soarin'. I get that those who don't visit as often as we do, 1-2 times a year, and were use to getting there for EMH and RD may not be as happy. I still think that this is an improvement for everyone, IMO...after all, it is a vacation...Right??? :)

Unfortunately, for us we were able to get much less accomplished at RD.

The notion that it is better than running around the parks was not our experience. It was hurry up and wait.

The 4th FP+ was a mirage.

It may be different during low crowds but summer we really felt between the limits of just 3 FP+ and longer standby lines lines we did less.

I do think we should pause and comment that it depends on the time of year you visit! I can certainly agree that for crowded times folks who prefer the legacy system have a valid gripe! I have only experienced October and September with 5 minute standby lines and really no need for Fps at all. Lets get that on the table. Personally I would never go to WDW during those kinds of crowds and unfortunately crowded is the new norm..so to that extent I empathize with you all who prefer the old system! I am not an advocate for the corporation one way or the other…only offering MY OPINION from my experience during the two times I had the fortune to try it out and I found it convenient, simple, time saving, and adjustable AND spontaneous. Please don't call me ABSURD. Again I would never go to WDW in July or really another time that wasn't an off season period. Too old and remember the way it used to be back in the day. Over and out.

You are correct. I dislike the Poly Pizza Huts, the bulldozing of Sunset Point, The 'disney parkization' the no merchandise at the Contemp…and I have begrudgingly adjusted to it…

I always like your posts and style!

Many thanks. :)

Once again, I did no such thing. Reread the post.

I feel the same way. :thumbsup2

We visited Carsland at DCA last year for the first time. Since I'm not a fan of FP+, I have been accused of not liking change. DCA underwent a massive change since our prior trip in 2010. So why then did I enjoy Carsland so much that we just booked flights to back again this year?

'Nuff said.

P.S. Why would you never go to WDW except during the off season? You don't fear change, do you? :rotfl2:

Agreed! Also the 'rare' glitch that causes 1000 to spend an hour waiting in guest services lines in the sun because they are 'suspect' in the eyes of the computer. Yes, Yes yes you have many valid points. Its a big tech monster. My two experiences like I have said have been flawless..ten days, charged everything, entered all parks, room, bars, food, water parks…not a single glitch…convenient and friendly…this was just my simple humble hands on experience. I know there are horror stories galore. Lets hope they are fewer and fewer as time marches on. we all know this system is here to stay.

Tomorrow I'll be able to start making FP reservations online for our 2+ week visit in November.

Right now we only have 10 day tickets, so we'll only be able to schedule FP's for a max of 10 days over our 16 days on site, leaving 6 days empty.

Which is going to be an interesting exercise because we plan on upgrading our tickets to AP's while there, which will allow us to go to the parks every day of our 16 days on site and (hopefully) allow us to schedule FP's for those 6 days we currently are not able to.

Our strategy right now is the same as last year - hit our AM park at rope drop with no FP's scheduled, then switch parks in the afternoon/evening where our FP's will be scheduled.

Of course, last year RD still held an advantage for an hour or two. Not sure if that is the case anymore.

Good thing I embrace change and challenges, because there are no shortages of either with a WDW vacation.

Not every has the luxury of traveling during off peak times. For many, many years the first full week in Dec was the best time for us, when FP was not necessary.

When we had to go during the peak travel times, FP made the crowds manageable. Now with the limits imposed on FP coupled with the longer SB lines at RD we are getting less done.

I can't imagine how complicated this must seem to first time visitors. I already know what my 3 FP+ will be for MK. How do you pick when you've never been on them before? Mesaboy's list is fabulous but how you find that blind without a serious investment of time?

This, I completely agree with.

Because I am not interested in standing in long hot lines with fat sweaty people and being run over by scooters and pushing and shoving to get on the monorail to wait with pissy people for 3 hours to see a couple of college girls dressed as some movie that sucked anyway… Much prefer to relax calmly and enjoy a beautiful 30,000 acres and a relaxed staff and room to breath.. Call me nuts, call me Al call me resistant to change call me anything you want…but please don't call me stupid.

Double check! even though we were onsite with AP's we ran into a 10 day max. Of course, it may have changed.

Like the entire park we went to TSMM and it used to be a steady walk to the loading area. However, it wasn't any longer. The line slowed when the que was halfway full and then crawled. At 9am a steady stream of FP stalled the standby line. I have never been STOPPED at the front of the standby line at opening while guests just kept flowing through the FP line.

As a total newbie to WDW, checking in at Pop Century in 11 days, I find the concept of FP+ much less stressful than the concept of FP legacy. The idea of this somewhat overweight, 38 yr old running around the park with two kids in tow in a massive place I have never been before, was a bit of a worry when I first joined Disboards before FP+ was announced.

Don't let all the strong opinions on these boards sway you one way or the other. Go. Keep an open mind. Have fun. Enjoy you first visit. Wishing you the best! Let us know your experience when you return. You have many interested ears here from both camps.
