Anyone into the show besides me? It's too much fun watching people cook with some sicko stuff and the voiceovers are just too goofy

I love Love LOVE this show!!!!! I even got my 8 year old sister hooked to it

Love the show,.....but why do you think they are sick themes? Because they are from a different culture?
I find it all very interesting.

It's just the idea of eating things like swallow's next mostly

One of the chefs here in DC was on it - Robert Donna from Galileo. Every so often, he decides he wants to personally cook lunch for people. So he opens a separate grill area in his restaurant where he offers sandwiches that he makes right there for $5, to-die-for half-chocolate half-pistachio cannoli for $2.50, soup for $3, and huge pizza slices for $2. It's really neat to know this guy was good enough to be on Iron Chef (even though he lost).

I'm watching the Iron Chef right now. :goodvibes I love the banter between the commentators.

(Anyone remember the fish-flavored ice cream on one show? It reminded me of that old SNL skit about the bass-omatic.)

Japan or America? A way to tell it's 10 is when the chairman bites the pepper

I was searching thru threads and saw this one. I love Iron Chef but I'm not a fan of Iron Chef America. I saw this episode w/the swallows nest. I love Bird's nest soup. When I lived in California I ate it about once a week at this awsome Chinese restaurant. Bird's Nest Soup w/crab and asparagus. You do know what this is don't you. The Swallows' nest is formed by its saliva. it hardens into these noodle like nests. :stir:

I absolutely love the original Iron Chef!!! Sakai is my favorite Iron Chef. :)

I cannot stand Iron Chef America. The only thing good about it is Alton Brown. But as much as I love him, I just can't bring myself to watch anymore episodes. I only watched it when Rick Bayless and Ming Tsai were on (both against Bobby Flay...and I can't stand him).

I don't like Iron Chef America, either...Bobby Flay annoys me. :confused3

It's a great show to watch late at night when you can't sleep! But why do the Iron Chef's always win? I've only seen the competitor win a couple times!! :stir:

I love seeing the Iron Chefs win on the original show...it's so much fun because you know it's gonna happen.

ICA I love watching the Iron Chefs lose. I was flipping through the channels and just caught the end of ICA and saw that Cat Cora lost...HAHAHAHA good! :rotfl:

I always keep a couple episodes on my Tivo for exactly this reason!

my family is a big fan of iron chef, not so much iron chef america. we all have our favorite, mine is sakai. none of us ever really liked iron chef aitalian, that kobe dude.

My DS 9 and I Love that show. Sometimes my DD 11 watches too. We like Cat Cora the best. Also I love Alton Brown so listening to him throughout the show is great.

I love the original Iron Chef much better :sunny: .

The American version lacks the same charm and banter.

I love it. I loved the crab and fish ones.........trying to make desserts with fish! :rotfl:

I think the strangest I saw was frozen peas as the secret ingredient...........

We watch it sometimes. My dd loves it when they show Mario Batali wearing orange crocs. :lmao:

I wonder about the behind-the-scenes logistics. It seems that they have every spice, meat, and veggie known to mankind at their disposal. Do they get a list ahead of time of available items? Do they have a selection of plates to use for presentation? Does anyone ever not finish preparing their line up of dishes? It would be interesting to be in the studio audience for that show!
