iPads in the Parks as cameras

If I am not obstructing anyone else's view, I don't see why it should bother someone that I am using the iPad.

That's the whole point right there, simmered down to the basics. As long as you're considering those around you, please snap/record away!!

People can carry a full size desktop computer into the parks if they want. I honestly don't care. But as soon as they hoist it up in the air and block my view, I care. And I'm going to say something.

Sooo with you on this. I had some fool hoist one up in front of me during FOTLK as I was trying to take a photograph and ruined the picture. The second time it went up, open went my mouth. And refused to shut until the person put the iPad away. Oh God...do I hear the Beach Boys????

IMO, the ipads aren't anymore annoying than cameras,

yes they are, they are much larger than the typical camera, and if you are behind someone holding up an Ipad you can't see ANYTHING except their Ipad.

For those with wifi only iPads...how is the wifi service in the parks and at the resorts....painfully slow?

I want to know how the wifi is at the resorts too! Thanks in advance!

My friend and his family were just there. He was snapping pictures from bizarre angles and sending them to me to challenge my park knowledge. He said the wi-fi worked great, both in the parks and at POR.

Yes, the wifi in the parks works well. I'm glad they finally got with the times and started offering it.

The ipad mini was perfect to take in the parks. That little thing takes pretty good pictures too, although I primarily use my iphone.

I have an iPad and an iPhone. The wifi at the resort works fine. I am guessing its bc less ppl are trying to access it. The wifi in the parks slowed my iPhone down to a halt. I had a hard time using the mobile magic ap and it was very slow for me. It actually didn't work at times in the park and would just be "accessing information" for long periods at a time. Annoying, but can't complain about free!

Wifi at our resort was always good. In the park it was spotty at times but overall I was pretty impressed.

We were there this past July. I have one of the old Ipads that doesn't have a camera, and I have a 4G hotspot from Verizon. At home, I have Comcast internet service, and 3G service from Verizon. In comparison to the home Comcast service, the 4G hotspot from Verizon is as fast. At home, the 3G service is frustratingly slow, and the wifi at Disney is about the same as the 3G I get with the hotspot at home. The wifi coverage at Kidani village where we stayed wasn't very good--it kept throwing us off the network. I am hoping it is better on our next stay. If it isn't bad, I might not renew the contract for the 4G hotspot (although it is nice to have more secure internet access than we would have using the hotel wifi).

I wonder how many of the people who take an iPad into the parks say "oh, I won't block anyone's view taking pictures with it" can really resist themselves in the heat of the moment, "just this once?"

Even if it's just this once, you just interfered with someone else's enjoyment of the park! Those things are obnoxious cameras. (Yes, I own one, too.)

Uh, no, sorry! As a grown adult, I am fully capable of resisting myriad temptations, including, but not limited to those involving iPads. I've taken it to many public places and never even been tempted to block anyone's view of anything. Unless, it is now Dis-Rude for me to "block" your view of my daughter hugging Alice after we've waited in line to meet and greet. Obnoxious? No, it's a device. People are obnoxious and they are everywhere and some of them have iPads in the park and some do not.

Well said. Devices do not control our behavior! But not really thinking iPads in that statement, lol.
