Wondering if the iPad is like a computer when you go thru airport security.
where u put it in a separate bin or just leave it in your carry on bag.

Just wanting to get my ducks in a row for planning

Thanks

General policy is you leave it in your bag, however, you can be asked to remove anything from your bag or they may remove it if it is blocking a clear view of something else.

We went last October and I was asked to remove my IPad from my bag in Providence and again in MCO on our return.

I take mine out, just don't need to be bothered to HAVE to take it out after the fact, just prepare before hand and have it out already

The only time I was asked to remove my iPad was flying from Geneva to JFK. I have flown other places with iPad and have always kept it in my bag.

Must be its made of lead (x-rays cant see through lead)

I've flown a gazillion times since I've had my iPad and every time it's been out of the bag when I've gone through security. Most places have signs and people telling me to take it out so I just don't bother waiting to find out so I just do it. It's so much faster just to do it.

I fly at least monthly and have never been asked to remove my IPAD from my bag---I've had my IPAD for 2 years.....(an aside--I have the first gen and went to look at the 3rd gen today---just couldn't pull the trigger since there's nothing "wrong" with my current one--I just WANT a new one with a pretty case:goodvibes....I :lovestruc my IPAD)

I have a HP Touchpad (which is similar to an ipad) and fly at least once a month to MCO and MDW and have never been asked to remove it from my bag. Of course I realize that it could happen at any time, but so far, in a year of owning it, it hasn't.

I'm beginning to think they're like shoes ... on or off...depends on who is asking. :rolleyes2

I’ve traveled 3 trips with an iPad. The first time, I asked if it needed to be removed and they said only if it had something over the top of it that prevented them from seeing it well enough (especially cords).

TSA is not consistent on this. (as you have read) It is best to pull it out so that you are not asked later to do it or put through further searching.

I was not asked to remove mine from my camera bag at any of the 3 airports I stopped at along the way.
