Internet access onboard

Hi all........

I know I'm probably going to get lambasted for asking this question, but.......

If two people (different families), wanted to 'split' the cost of unlimited internet access while onboard, is this possible? There would be one signon name and one password, but once you get access, anyone could use it if I remember correctly.

Is that possible?

Theoretically, it's possible. It's not really ethical, though.

Keep in mind that only one person can use the access ID at a time... not only users in the Internet Cafe, but teenagers at Common Grounds, so you'd need to coordinate who's using it and when.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I hear what you're saying about it not being ethical, but I guess it just burns me up that Disney charges that ridiculous amount of money for internet access.

What's unethical about it?

I have one phone and 4 people use it. One internet account with 4 people using it.

The only thing unethical is related to a single post we've seen on this board suggesting that DCL wanted each person to purchase the package that was going to use it - from a conversation that was had with one of the Icafe CM's. I've never seen this actually documented, and it's certainly totally impossible to enforce.

Ummm, if it's unethical no one told me. :)

I always get the unlimited access and my husband uses it to check mail a couple of times (under my account) during the cruise as well. No big deal at all and I didn't see anything that discouraged or prohibited the practice. We didn't care about being able to log on at the same time and it was perfectly fine for us. :)

I was planning to use one account for my three teens. I hope it's OK.

I really think that Dave meant that it may not be appropriate to 'share' the usage with numerous families. I believe that even Dave would agree that it is fine for spouse's/children to use one stateroom account.

For example - yes, you may have one phone at home and all 4 people in your family use it. BUT, you do not share the cost with your neighbors, and thus 'share' the phone/service.

With that being said, if I was traveling with friends in neighboring staterooms, I still would probably 'share' an email account if we chose to purchase the plan -- knowing that we couldn't have more than one person signed on at any time. I wouldn't use it all that often, and probably wouldn't feel bad 'sharing'.

Yes, Jody, that is indeed what I meant.

Ah, now I see what you meant, Dave. :)

Yes, I agree, using the service for multiple families would definitely be skirting the "spirit" of the service.
