Interesting presents

A few days before Christmas my husband kept telling me, "Wait until you see what I put in your stocking" He was so excited, which got me so excited because normally we don't do much in the stockings (maybe a card & a bag of M&M's for him and a bag of Reese cups for me) So I couldn't wait to open my stocking.

Yesterday morning I open it up. And there was my bag of Reese cups (which he knows that I haven't had a candy bar since June and don't have any plans on eating them again anytime soon) and two tiny bottles of hand sanitizer from Crabtree & Evelyn. First of all, I have NO IDEA where he would even get stuff from this place and out of the 24 yrs we've been together, I MAY have used hand sanitizer MAYBE once or twice and I really don't even think it was in front of him. So I don't know where that idea came from and I don't know why he would think that I would use it. :confused3 Just caught me off guard since I thought I was getting a kickass stocking. Not so much. :rotfl:

I would kindly point out to him that maybe he should shake things up next year and go with something different. ;)

I have found over the years that some men just stink at gift giving even when you give hints. A few years ago I started an Amazon wishlist and at this point it has over 400 items on it and I add to it all year long (even more so before Christmas). Having so many items on my wishlist still makes him think about what to get me and I still get surprised (while getting something I know I want). This year I got the KitchenAid Glass Mixing Bowl for my mixer. I have had it on there since I started my wishlist and I gave up on ever getting it and was so surprised when I opened it.

I think this idea is brilliant! I never can think of anything to tell DH when he asks what I want. I usually buy what I want/need as I need it! At Christmas, I still want something to open! I will start my Amazon wish list now! Really, how can husbands know what we want when we don't know ourselves!

My MIL got me a calendar. Unfortunately I already purchased one, to get the kids January activities down on paper! AND...she got me a restaurant gift card, that I ASKED her for...but she gave it to DH. And then made it sound like it was all her idea :rotfl2:

I got a Perfect Tortilla pan set! :rotfl:
I do remember telling my mom how awesome it looked when it came on TV, and it still looks awesome, I'm excited to try it out. xD

I accidentally bought DH coffee made from cat poo. Ooooops. It was the most expensive coffee I've ever bought. Now I know why. :rolleyes1

I know, big wow indeed!

we got a new ironing board at the weekend,I told my dh if he thought that constituted a Christmas present,he would be served with divorce papers- I do think he was considering sticking a bow on it.

I did get some slippers which apparently go in the microwave :confused3,but off my sis- not quite sure how they work. :goodvibes

Got lots of nice thoughtful gifts, but the most unusual was a scalp massager :scratchin. As a joke all the adults in our family each got one in asst colors :teeth:. As I love my head massaged, what started out as a joke, is actual very beneficial and I kid you not... this thing is great! :lmao:

I gave him a list, with about 20 different ideas written on it, ranging from an itunes gift card all the way up to small diamond earrings. Though a Disney gift card was on the list, I threw away the bottle of Bailey's he gave me last year about two weeks ago.

So I guess I just need to accept he stinks at gift giving. I'm over it today, just disappointed he didn't put more thought into it.

2 interesting gifts...

I am vegetarian and received a ham from QVC...this is the 3rd year in a row for the ham, the giver knows I am veggie.

My DH got a giant light up duck for the front yard. He likes Christmas lights on the house, but a giant duck...? This was not his only gift and all the others were very thoughtful. We appreciate any gifts we get, and do not expect them at all. The duck is going to go down in Christmas lore!

We bought this for ourselves last year and love it too!

MIL always gives each of her 3 kids and their spouses a cheap wall calendar she gets out of a bin at Micheal's or somewhere. This year she comes down with 4 (SIL brought a friend to our Xmas Eve party who has no family) that have different themes and tells us to each pick which one we'd like. My DH immediately grabs one and says 'I want this one'. It was hot air balloons...:confused3. The others were wildlife, nature, cats...and he picks hot air balloons.

DH bought me a slinky nighty from Victoria Secret even though I have been very self conscious about my body since having twins in 1999 and am pretty conservative about how I dress (I sleep in yoga pants and t-shirts). Plus we are coming off a separation and aren't 'there' yet, if you know what I mean. So, why would he go there? :confused3

I guess we are in the same club. I gave DH a list with about 20 different things on it, and we'd talked about the budget and what the total amount NOT TO EXCEED was. He bought me 2 of the books on the list and a big honking laptop that I (a) do not want (and we'd discussed this several times) and (b) have no way to pay for. Fortunately DD knew what was happening and got several of the things on my list so I had some packages and got a couple of nice sweaters and 2 shirts. It just put a real damper on Christmas to know that he ignored everything we'd discussed and that I'd have to return the laptop today. He is just lousy at gifts, and at sticking to the budget (just with gifts, not in general).

Oh well, off to BestBuy. Gotta buy milk, too; it looks like we are about to get slammed with snow!

Ha, I put that same one in my husband's stocking as a joke. We're all fighting over it-that thing is awesome!!

I got a stuffed hippopotamus that sings "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas." I have no idea why it was picked for *me* -- I'm not a big fan of the song, I don't have a lot of cutesy Christmas decorations, etc. It was from my in-laws and DH sidled up behind me and said "Um, did you ask for that or something?" Um, no. I hadn't.

(To be fair, my in-laws are generally nice people. The hippopotamus wasn't the *only* gift I got and the others were nice/thoughtful. The hippopotamus was definitely an oddity though. It also still had the price tag on it, and I hope-hope-hope she did not pay that much for it!)

I got something from my amazon wish list and had no idea what it was! I am a dealer of vintage silver & turquoise jewelry and had thought it would be nice to have a bench top buffer to do some polishing of some old stones. The one on the wish list looks pretty small! Well, lol, it's NOT. It's huge and heavy.

Luckily DH can use it too and is willing to keep it on his work bench.

Be careful what you wish for!

Can't lie. I kind of want to try this.

That's awful. I'd be upset by the repeat ham.
Anywhere you can donate it?

My dear SIL and BIL they send us allot of college wear that does not get wore. She does allot of traveling for her job. Lately it was to Hawaii. so one year I got those packets of coffee samples from those hotel rooms wrapped in tissue paper. I think I would have had that this year than what I got.

They sent out clothes , I though oh no! To my surprise they got my DH a nice Pebble Beach shirt. I got this hideous shirt. It is a real stretchy shirt, with this weird collar. And I can't even begin to describe the design, it looks like something a real old lady would wear. Mind you she is about 10 years older than me. But she wears designer clothing. They are not hurting for money. I don't expect any elaborate. I took it out of the wrapper and me and my DH just sat there starring at it. There wasn't any words to express.

Where did they get the hippo? That is my nephew's favorite Christmas song. I looked high and low for a stuffed hippo and couldn't find one. Maybe I can get one as a late Christmas present.
