Watching Indiana jones and the crystal skull the other night got me to think that the Indiana jones stunt spectacular has gone unchanged since its opening in 89' I believe I was surprised and thought is that the longest a ride/show has gone without being rehab or updates in some way?

Although I've never been to Disneyland I have watched video of the Indiana jones ride which is based on the same ride design as dInosaur in AK. I must say I was pretty impressed with the ride and think that the stunt show has not much to offer anymore.

I think making a Indiana jones ride based upon the crystal skull is a great way to update that area of the part that hasn't be rehab except for a fast pass rehab

What do you think? Is it time for change in that area? If so what should they replace it with if not a Indiana jones ride?

I've always wondered why this attraction has never had a major re-do. I do realize that this would require the attraction to be closed for quite a long time. It really has nothing to do with building new sets, but the stunt men and women would probably need months to choreograph, fine tune, and train a completely new routine. It would be nice to see something new. I don't know if the site itself is large enough to hold a ride like the IJ ride in DL.

There was always the Indy/Star Wars mashup show.

1. About 70% of WDW Guests are first-time visitors.

2. The show still plays to "standing-room" crowds.

3. The rehearsals and choreography is the least of it. The (concrete) stage would have to be redesigned. The gas and electric connections would have to be revised. All new sets would have to be constructed.

4. All the systems would have to be reprogrammed, such as the fire effects, the hydraulic movement of ladders, etc.

(I used to work in that theater and saw what actually was going on backstage.)

Except that Raiders of the Lost Ark, upon which the attraction is based, is by far the best of the series and in my personal Top 5 list of all movies. Crystal Skull was a big steaming pile of poo.

To paraphrase Brad Pitt's character Billy Beane in Moneyball: "There are good movies and there are bad movies, then there's fifty feet of crap, and then there's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

That's OK. I'm willing to give them at least a month to get it all done. ;)

Seriously though..........it would be an awesome upgrade to a park sorely in need of one.

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::thumbsup2 Mesaboy you do it every time- I think I hurt myself laughing so hard. But every word is SO true about Crystal Skull. Although I will differ from you on the best movie of the series. For me the Last Crusade was my favourite. Junior- Look what you did!:scared1:

Tear out Indiana and build the Cars land they have at California Adventure or anything, a big new ride, Toy Story land, Monsters Inc. land there are a lot of options but they need to add a big area to DHS.

Lol ok you got my crystal skull defiantly sucked I personally like the last crusade great story line.

Although most visitors are first timers and the show skill packs the stands doesn't mean that you have to keep it I mean come on no update or rehab since 89' that doesn't sound like Disney, let's face it the only rides that should never ever face major redoing are rides like great movie ride and splash mountain.

The land that host the show now is way bigger then people may think I mean they have a big desert hill, think about how much land sits there, I'm guessing plenty for a Indiana jones ride of some sort.

I just think its time to update to a different Indiana jones movie or make a ride of it maybe a combination of something from each movie either way I've seen the show 4 times and honestly most wdw veterans and new comers wouldn't be too heart broken to see a major change in that area even if it means long close down of that area

I agree! While Raiders will always be the classic, I think Last Crusade tops it for plot, character development, memorableness (memorability? whatever -- it's memorable) and humor. And come on...Harrison Ford and Sean Connery together? I'll take that over Magic Mike ANY DAY. :thumbsup2

But I'm all for an attraction rehab. I prefer rides over shows anyway. I'll see a show once, maybe twice...I'll ride something a hundred times.

I say they get rid of the show and put in Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. It's such a fantastic attraction and I'd love to have it in Florida.

It is WAY PAST TIME to scrap this attraction and replace it with the Indiana Jones ride...

I don't know that I'd agree with that. Cate, of course, stole the movie. But I'd like to see the ride updated to include variations using each of the IJ movies... a track with the Ark sequence, a track with the mine car ride, a track with the boo-bee-trapped hallway, and a track with the giant ants...

This is one of those rides that I would almost go to DL again for instead of WDW. The queue and the ride are amazing!

I experienced the DL Indy ride for the first time last May, and although it was cool, I don't think that it would be able to replace the show at HS. As Cheshire Figment said, the show is always full. If it's not broke, there's really no reason for Disney to fix it.

My DD(13) is a huge Indy fan. Her first experience with the characters was at the show, which she saw before she was old enough to see the movies. She would not be happy if this show were replaced with something else. In fact, here is her birthday cake from last month.

Of course, the Indiana Jones ride at DL was her favorite part of the trip there, as you can probably guess. ;)

I disagree I believe the ride could easily replace the show and still have the same size crowd if not bigger. Like I've said before this attraction hasnt had a rehab or update since its opening in 89'. Yes it still fills up to capacity but what do kids want a show which isn't that action packed as let's say fantasmic, or do they want a ride that is thrilling and makes them feel like part of the movie. I defiantly want to feel like I'm in the movie and a ride would capture that. Times have changed and a 89' original attraction doesn't fit into what Disney is trying to do which is update everything to fit the next generation I.e. star tours, test track, spaceship earth. That being said whether its packed or not it's time for change but like the joke is told with imagineers disney's middle name is change and this ride is in dire need of a update or complete makeover

There are many attractions at DHS that need to be replaced,I have to put the Indy show in that group,it's just been there too long.
