Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

Well had the vaca planned, officially signed up for the half tonight, and so excited!!!!!!:cloud9:

Still have to get a spectator ticket and also figure out how transportation works, etc. But very excited :goodvibes Anyone going to MNSSHP one night while they are in WDW for the race?

Also I want to add a few disney songs, whether from the parks - shows - movies, etc to my playlist for the race...suggestions?? :cool2:

When you registered you should have received two emails from active.com. One is labeled "Payment Receipt" and the other "Registration Confirmation". The email labeled registration should have the following line:

If you don't have it the code looks like it is a generic one and not specific for the user so if you don't have the email send me a PM and I will shoot you mine.

The website purchases are not working due to "technical difficulties" and it has been that way for a few days now. That was part of my issue with the purchase of the spectator tickets. They kept telling me I could purchase online and no one seemed to hear that this was not an option. ;)

It wasn't easy but I was able to buy the party ticket today!! :yay:

And I am about to try to buy mine too! Thanks, Laura. :goodvibes

Some of my favorites are Tapestry of Nations, Ever Ever After (from Enchanted), Spectromagic Parade and the Remember the Magic Parade from the 25th Anniversary.

I love Disney music to run to.

I was able to buy my Finish Line Party tickets from 407-WDW-IRUN this morning. It took almost a half hour with three times of being put on hold. The CM tried to tell me that they didn't sell them. I just waited until she got the "right" answer and was able to book. :)

And, from the Disney Food Blog: Wine and Dine Half Marathon News

great songs!! I agree Disney music is fun to run to. It also really gets me jazzed for the run and lets me know just why I am out there doing this!!

I know this is the inaugural race, but does anyone have any idea what the limit is for entries for the half? What is the limit for the one in January? Just curious how big the crowd will be.

I emailed to ask how many were going to be running the Food and Wine and the answer I got was 10,000.

Registered today for the wine and dine half marathon. Can't wait till October! It will be my first half.

I'm officially in! I can't wait! And this should help give the training a boost too!

DH & I will both be running the half - originally we thought we'd do the relay but then we decided to do the whole half ourselves. We started training in January (Hal Higdon's Novice Half Plan) but hit a bump with training due to a nasty cold that hung around for a month, the Olympics (we live right downtown in Vancouver) and family staying with us during them (not to mention papers and finals for me afterwards).

We did the Vancouver Sun Run 10k which was last weekend - I had a bunged up knee, but walked/ran anyways. Not an impressive time at all, but I was happy to complete. Now we're diving back into training Monday because I was so sore after the Sun Run it scared me what I'll be like if I don't thoroughly train for the half! :rotfl:

We're staying at BLT (purchased DVC points during our DLR trip in December) so I'm a little worried about transportation. I'm hoping that there will be plentiful amounts of taxis around! We're also doing MNSSHP on 9/28 (I'll have to be good I guess :rolleyes1) and I'm a little concerned about keeping up with my training during everything (we'll be at WDW for 8 days before the half).

For our "dinner" we have early an ADR at Coral Reef. I figured I can get some sort of grilled fish and rice/roasted potatoes which should be good. I've only walked/ran early morning races, so this night race is kinda throwing me off.

Also, does anyone know how we're going to be crossing the start line timing-wise? The reason I ask is because during the Vancouver Sun Run (which has 52k runners & walkers) there were so many of us that my group (1 - 1:15) didn't even cross the starting line until an hour after the race began. If I'm thinking I'd like to complete in under 2:45 and we don't cross until say 10:30, that has me completing at around 1:15am. Will that even give me enough time at the Finish Party?

I'm officially registered! I have to book the rest of the trip now...

Megsablue - essentially what you are saying is correct. For the Princess I was in the Corral C (third corral) and I crossed the start line about 15 minutes into the race.

According to the website, the after party goes until 3 am, so I think you will be fine. Probably the earliest finishers will be gone by the time you or I get to the finish line party.

I, for one, will be looking forward to arriving to the party 'fashionably late'.:upsidedow:upsidedow

I am officially registered! :cool1:

I was waiting for my official 10k time after my first race this weekend! (1:07:10). I'm hoping to improve my time a LOT by October, but wanted something to put down.

We officially registered this weekend! It cost me over 1 grand to register all ten of us, but I am hoping the experience will be "priceless" :rotfl2:
I didn't realize we are only allowed 20 characters (including spaces) for the team name, so I had to do some last minute tweaking. My son and are were supposed to be SLOW WHITE & THE GIANT DWARF, but the best I could do was SLOWHITE & THE GIANT! If I can edit later on, that may change a bit.
Our other teams are: TEAM K-O, TEAM BON-OPOULOS, LETHAL WEAPONS 1&2 and FAST UNITED. Each team has a fast and a slow person so we hope to be evenly matched. Anyone could win and that just adds to the fun. We will probably take between 2:30 and 2:45 to finish so that should give us at least 2 hours to attend the party. I remember the first Tower of Terror race: it got started so late that after we got our medals and photos taken we only had enough time for one ride! Hopefull, they have learned something since then.

We will probably also do MNSSHP, but have to figure out which day will be best. Do you get a discount if you're a race participant?

I'm seriously considering signing up for this. I ran my first half in January at WDW and this one really sounds intriguing. I was considering signing up for the 2011 half (so I could run in non freezing temps....) but I like the fact that this is a different course and is run at night. It should add an interesting twist.

I'm just trying to convince a friend to sign up with me as it will just be me traveling solo if not.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out.

Hi, My name is Andre and I am from Brazil. I will be running the "Disney Wine&Dine 1/2 Marathon" and this will be my first sport event at Disney!!! I'm counting the days until race day.

I have a question about the transportation after the race. I will be staying at the Pop Century Resort (this is not a Event Host Resorts). My wife will drop me at the Wild World of sports for the race and she won't be able to pick me up at Epcot at the finish line (we have 2 litlle kids and will be late at night).

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how can I go back to POP CENTURY using the disney transportation !!!

Thanks,
ANdre

I have just (well almost completed) registering us both for our first ever Half Marathon and are so excited to run it at Disney because we are such Disney fans! However when registerng they asked for T-shirt size, now for me that is an easy question....BUT not for my wife, :scared1:what is a Tech T-shirt and how do they run in sizes she ask me???? :confused3 well I have looked all over, does anyone know if this is just a basic t-shirt or something you runners know about and us novices don't?? thanks for any help so I can finish our registration!

Tech shirts are the polyester fabric that a lot of racing material is made out of. If you went to your local Sports Authority or what not, they'll have them, and your wife can try them on. I find that tech shirts run a TINY bit larger than regular t-shirts.

It really depends on the manufacturer. Unfortunately they are a lot like running shoes, just because you wear one size in on brand doesn't mean you will wear it in another. For example, the one brand of WISH race (the more yellow ones) run the smallest of any tech shirt I have ever owned. Mine is so tight I can't even wear it while the greener WISH tech shirts run about average and the same size fits fine.

For what it is worth all the Disney tech shirts I have run short from neck to waist but normal in width (or circumference).

Welcome Andre! I think your best option is just to take a taxi back to your resort. If someone has a better idea, please chime in.

One thing I didn't know from the January races: the shirts were all in men's sizes. I ordered an extra large and it was huge one me.

(The Princess half is just a woman's shirt so an XL fit perfectly.)
