In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Good Morning...

LisaPR - yeah on the clean test report from the colonoscopy. What a relief that must have been. You are right - golf swings are a curious things in that there are so many actions needed and so many places to screw up. Oy...

Kat - I want a housekeeper day!!!

Lyz - 10 days until the kids are home for the summer. Yikes that is early. The schools around here stay in session until mid to late June.

Not much going on around here. The rain that has been battering the mid west is on its way here. Good thing I don't have any outdoor work right now right? Training session tonight and then who knows what. Maybe just a quiet night with a book or something. We'll see.

Nancy - let us know what evil things Erin had you do today. BTW - how is the tracking going? There is a whistle at stake you know...

Erika - Miss you!!! Can't wait until you are back so we can hear all about the cruise.

LisaV - how is the house hunting going?

Stacey - hope your trip back home is a smooth one. We have missed you around here.

LisaZ - How are things going with you? How is your co-worker doing?

Ronda - How are you? I hope you are doing well.

Amy - awesome pic. Um - trip report? just sayin'

Amiee - Hope the storms haven't been too bad out your way.

Dawn - how is the tracking going? Are you and Carsyn still going to the gym?

Sunny - come out and play!!! We miss you!

Roddy - don't make me send the search dogs down to find you. Or have you been gobbled up by a garden snake?

Kelly - our newest loser - how are things on your side of the pond. Still haven't killed any in-laws I hope.

Time for me to get some work done. It is billing time and my contractors want to get paid so I better start reviewing their bills...

The bad storms held off until about 4 this morning. Well, I am guessing 4 because that's when my bed became a very cramped space. It was mostly lightening and heavy rain, which we do not need.

Lisa ~ glad your procedure when well and you are free for 3 years.

Paula ~ do you need some collections help? lol

Kat ~ I'll should be around.

Lyz ~ love that Mollie is doing great with them. We have about 10 days left too. I think the Tuesday after Memorial Day is the last one for Ryan. Taylor graduates from pre-school tomorrow. I don't really care for her pre-school teacher. She said T isn't ready for kindergarten. My back side! She can spell several 3 letter words and tell her own stories while reading. Ugh! I'm right, she's wrong.

Amy ~ my idea of camping is a Holiday Inn on the side of a mountain. Just can't rough it, lol.

I give up. Posted a hearfelt saga and then I get :

WTHeck?

So the moral is - life is okay - I actually feel better after writing it - even if it was for myself.

Off running errands.

Paula - :worship:on working through the crud to still get a workout in.

Lisa PR - Move into a tent now so you can afford college. Screw the energy saving tips.:lmao:
Glad you are free and clear girl!

Lyz - Kelly and I talked last night and she confirmed that there is over 230 pro teams at levels that can make a full time income in England alone. It is not the same as here and I think he needs to give it a shot as soon as he can when it works out and is right for him.

Amy - :lovestrucNorth Carolina and a cabin sound like heaven to me plus that pic is so cute!

Amiee - thanks for the great suggestion. What do you eat for carbs a day?

Random not drunken post :

I am laughing MAO right now.

On the radio they talked about Christmas songs kids get wrong.

A guy called in and he grew up in NYC and thought the song
Song of the Angels (Gloria in Excelsis Deo)

actually said -

An exhausted Dego.

He was Italian and though he knew the term was derogetory, thought it was cool that Jesus was Italian.

Kelly - our newest loser - how are things on your side of the pond. Still haven't killed any in-laws I hope.

Things are looking pretty good over here! No in-laws killed to date - only due to the fact that I've stayed out of their way :rotfl2:

Yep, Football (Soccer) is crazy popular over here! Its our national sport!
For interest, the four 'recognised' leagues have a total of 92 teams, then there is the conference leagues (three leagues) that have a further 68 teams. Add to that the amateur leagues, where they get paid a token payment for playing on the Saturday and it adds up to 200+ teams. Crazy!

I was looking up some info on eggs and thought of Nancy or any of us who may have eggs that are questionable from time to time.

Here's a rhyme to help you...

If not sure you ought-er,
then place it in water...
If it lies on its side,
then it's fresh - eat with pride.

After three or four days,
at an angle it lays.
But, it still is a treat,
so go on and eat.

Ten days: stands on end,
in your baking it will blend.
Cause it's definitely edible,
in your baking... incredible.

But if it floats on the surface,
that egg serves no purpose.
Cause a floater is a stinker!
Out the back door best fling 'er!

(In other words, you can tell by how it positions in the water whether or not it is still good. The flatter it lays on it's side, the better. This is because air will build up in the egg as it ages and begins to go bad, causing it to stand up, and to eventually float in the water. I've had eggs stay good several weeks beyond the "sell by" date. It's "sell by" and not "eat by" for a reason.)

Morning all. Sorry I have been kinda MIA. I was reading if that counts...:goodvibes

Kat, housekeeper day. I love housekeeper day. Mine thought that she had fibro but recently found out that she has had Lyme all this time. She started treatment for Lyme which is very similar to chemo treatments and is down for the count for close to a month. I will have to live vicariously through your housekeeper day for awhile...:cloud9:

..

As for me, I channeled all warm loving thoughts and had my colonoscopy like a good little girl. First up, I had to meet with the anesthesiologist because apparently I need "special" anesthesia. Yep, monitors the whole works, oxygen, just "special" I am. Then the good news, clean and free for 3 years. :woohoo: You have no idea how good this feels to have this weight lifted. I was SOOO stressed for days and not sleeping and having bad dreams when I was sleeping. Just WOW. :headache: Now, I feel so good, free again. So thanks to everyone who was sending love my way.

Gym today and then groceries that did not magically appear in my house while I was in the hospital. Hopefully planting corn and beans in the next few days. The peas are up and going strong!!

Have a super day everyone!!

Lisa, I have been rather MIA as well. So I forgive you, at least!

We found ours through craigslist back in the fall, and I couldn't be happier. Esp when things are hectic like they are right now, coming home to everything vacuumed and scrubbed and mopped, ahh.

Great news on the health front!!

Hi guys.

Rice Krispy Treats. I will eat all of them. Like I can't even make them or buy the boxed ones. I will eat 10, in a row, no problem. Even the generic Little Debbie 100 calorie ones. Gone. It's a sickness.

I could too. No doubt.

Everyone else,. I need to get back to work... and might even hit the gym today! ;)

Breakfast was 2 pieces of American Cheese, 2 eggs, a serving of ham luncheon meat one piece of sourdough bread and a bit of butter - again I could not get myself to eat until about 10 so it was a combo of snack and breakfast -

Lunch today was rye krisp crackers with laughing cow wedge and lowfat vanilla yogurt w/ granola

We are out of fruit and I need to make a run to the grocery store.

Totals so far are

CALORIES 929
CARBS 88
FAT 42
PROTEIN 50

I am not sure if the cheese amount I got was accurate or not since the wrapper has been thrown. Will look up at grocery store. Trying to get more protein without the fat/carbs. I am finding many things on spark people is higher than my labels.

So, I just about finished catching up.

Erika- Loved the TR and pics! LOVE all the matching T-shirts! Can not wait to hear all about the cruise!

Roddy-Seriously, we need to discuss Star Trek. And veggie gardens!

LisaPR-Glad to hear your tests were good!

LisaV-Loved reading what you wrote about Mother's Day. :goodvibes

LisaZ-So sorry to hear about your coworker's wife.

EE-Work drama sucks. Hope it gets better soon.

 to all!

A few more pics from the trip...

We went on a hike to a waterfall and when we started on the trail, I swear the forest scenes in twilight could have been filmed there. Super green, misty, little sunlight...Expected to see Edward at any moment. :lovestruc

And, we were not roughing it by any means..This is the cabin we stayed it. It only cost 140/night.

Long post ahead. So much to catch up on.

Rice Krispie Treats. I love 'em too. I make them in a big pan, and cover them with a dish towel so I don't have to look at them  and if anyone leaves a knife or other "cutting" utensil in there? It's all over for me. I'll keep snitching away, cutting, trimming, making edges even :rolleyes1 Next thing I know, the pan is 1/2 empty

Paula - my session with Erin was totally lower body today. I felt like Gumby when we were done  Then I went to work. So by tonight I should be feeling just peachy.

And no. The tracking hasn't been going too well. Or honestly, at all. I'm currently in "LisaV" mode. Eating conciously. I'm aware and counting points in my head - not always the best way, but trying to find that moderate path for now. So many other things going on in my life that I just can't keep track of it all. Something had to give. I decided that I can't be completely obsessed and anal about every bite that I eat right now - just trying to be careful and not let myself go into free-fall a la Kirstie Alley. :scared:

Amy - nice to have you back from vaca! Pics are awesome!

Amiee - Yikes on tornados! Those are a rarity here in New England. And because of the terrain, if we do get a funnel cloud like that, it doesn't last long at all

Kat - totally envious of housekeeper day. Hey - good luck to the 'Canes tonight :cheer2:

LisaPR - :woohoo: on the clean bill of health! I may just go look for that recipe of yours....is it difficult? :confused3

Lyz - 10 more days of school? You have my sympathy! My kids get done on June 25th.

OH - and get this. One of our elementary schools was closed for 4 days due to Swine Flu (which did indeed come back as a positive case :crazy2: ) So, now they need to make up those 4 days. First, the entire district has the Tuesday after Memorial Day off (prof. dev. day). They have to go 1/2 day that day. Then, our Superintendent petitioned the state B.O.E. and requested that he take 3 of the early release days at the end of the year and make them FULL days for that one school - and call it all good. Makes sense, right? Nope. The state denied that request. SO. In addition to that Tuesday after Memorial Day, those kids have to go to school on Friday June 26, Mon June 29 and Tues June 30. :scared1:

Dawn - college costs :faint: It's more than a little intimidating, isn't it! Good job on tracking. :thumbsup2 I know I've said this before, but awareness is HUGE. Just knowing what it is you are putting in your body is a great first step.

Kelly -does the entire population of England play on soccer a team? :rotfl: Holy cow that's a lot of teams.

Liz - :flower3: hope you're hanging in o.k. I know you've got a lot on your plate - just know I'm thinking about you!

Erika - yes. There will be a test when you get home. Hope you've been keeping up ;)

Roddy...Steph...LisaV - where are you? Come out an play with us

LisaZ, Sunny, Ronda....hi guys!! :flower3:

Hi everyone...

It has been a very windy day up here. Thankfully, nothing blew off the roof (including me).

Amy - Love the cabin. I don't want to rent it, I want to own it. (but can I take the Bambi head off the wall? That creeps me out and I can picture a fabulous piece of artwork taking its place. :rotfl:)

Nancy - I'll have the whistle ready for when you want us to keep you accountible for tracking.

Life can be pesky at times and the trick for all of us is to find ways to make real changes in our habits that we can work into our lives as new habits. The learning curve can be rough, but the results are totally worth it when you make good choices and no longer have to think about it. Hang in there. I hope life calms down a bit for you. :flower3:

Dawn - your breakfast / snack sounded big, yummy and protein laden. I know I always eat way too much if I don't eat during my scheduled feeding times (every 3 - 4 hours now). How about eating your snack (like a piece of fruit and a bit of protein - like a low fat cheese stick) when you get up and then eating your normal breakfast when your schedule allows. I am up by 6:30 most mornings, but breakfast isn't until 9:00 because that is what works for me. I usually have some water on my way to work and maybe a piece of fruit. Then I have my cereal at 9:00 during our coffee break (yes, I am a contractor - we take morning coffee breaks).

Oh - have you given egg beaters a try? Way less fat and cholesterol and so easy to make. Just open the container, pour into a bowl and microwave. Light, fluffy and yummy. They taste just like real eggs. Just a thought.

I am wrapping up a few things here and then off for my punishment / training session. Catch you all later.

Amy, great pics! You look great in that dress, should wear it more often!

Nancy, the housekeeper took a long time to get to. But with both of us working full time and the difference in schedules, it has really helped.

Kirstie Alley!!! Sadly, I relate to her. So easy to fall off.

I at least managed to drag sorry butt to kickboxing today. Amazing how it takes weeks to months to get IN shape, and less than 2 weeks to get OUT of shape!

Paula- :lmao::lmao:About the bambi head. :lmao:I think they were attempting to make an artsy decorative statement with it since it was made out of grape vine or something, but it was still scary.:scared1: DH and I love cabins. Someday we need to live somewhere that we can have one.

Kat- Thanks! the dress is from the last time I lost weight. So happy to get it out of the closet and have it fit right.

And since this a weight loss thread, on friday morning when we left I was 180.5. I am about 183 now. Not too bad for an incredibly indulgent and intoxicated weekend, and I know some of it is due to being off track with my water.

I had a fantastic run last week, and 5 mile of hiking over the weekend, so exercise is going okay. Must get back to running 3 times a week. 5k on June 12th.

Amy, I need to try running again too. Been considering doing the local Komen, which is June 13th. I am not too sure about a 5K in June in NC, but hey, you only die once, right?

The gain likely just water weight. I am sure it will come off quickly.

I of course really want the 'Canes to win tonight, but some part of me is on the fence. If they win, they face my #2 team (I grew up near Pittsburgh), and I am honestly not sure my wallet nor my waistline would benefit from another local playoff round. So either way I will be okay (can you hear the rationalizing from there?)...

Hey All,

Sorry I've been absent, I've been swamped with work lately and crashing pretty much as soon as I've been getting home. I haven't had a chance to catch up and probably won't because it'll take to long. I'll probably be scarce for another week or so, 'til my work load lightens a little. :scared1:

Amy, Nancy and Paula, I've not seen Star Trek, yet. However, it will be at least a week from today before I'm able to possibly longer but I plan to see it asafp. :rotfl2: So, please be patient with me! Oh, the garden grows, I should have some peppers before long. Still a bit before any zucchini, cucumbers or squash will be available. :rolleyes1

Erika, Liz, Lyz and anyone I might have accidentally missed hope yall and your families are all doing well. Take care! ;)

Afternoon all -

Amy - you need to let me know where you rented that cabin! Good glory is that fabulous and I am with Paula - owning is a dream!

Paula - I was trying to shove a smuch protein down as I could because I wanted to not be hungry enough to turn to carbs like yesterday. This medication I am on at night is giving me issues in the morning and if I eat too soon it comes out one way or the other.( like my gentle description? :lmao:) So it seems like I can't keep anything down till 9 ish.

I do need to set my clock on my phone for a 4 hour reminder to eat. That will save me from starving at night and I need to suck it up and say I will just be hungry for a bit at night and I can deal with that. It eventually goes away right?

Kat - I am with you on falling off. I chucked all my jeans that were big and now have nada that fits. 10 pounds makes a huge difference doesn't it? So for me it is back to posting. In front of the fridge I think - what will they say about XYZ if I eat it. Or XYZ is a better choice to put down.

Writing it is owning it for sure for me. Last night I oppened some carmel popcorn that has been rambling around in the cupboard for a month, and then chucked it. I did not want the shame. That and knowing if I do not loose these 10 pounds by the 5th of June means I will be going to Treyner's graduation in sweat shorts. They were about even in pull!:lmao:

Nancy - we are looking at $14-18,000 short after grants and Staffords. Either getting a Plus loan and having to start paying it off already starting next spring or paying $10,000 off next year in 2 - 3 month installments each semester. That option would mean Treyner gets another $4,000 stafford loan out.

When I went to school and they were private schools, if parents paid, great. If not, you could get a loan out for your whole tuition on your own. It never even occured to me that I would not get a loan. You also did not have to start paying until graduation.

Hence the Europe debate. That and if he does go, knowing he will need to earn his tuition the next 3 years. There is no way with 2 kids in college at the same time we could pay the same amount. I am voting that Carsyn chooses to become a nun and Baylor a munk. There is the slight issue of them not being Catholic....hmmm....;)

Treyner just got another job this afternoon so that will help. He is now working on 2 farms.

There is a very few student work positiions also at his college. No Freshmen get them. I think he is going to see if he can get a job through the coach from someone who supports the soccer program. This though means he will need a car that runs. Which means parking costs, insurance costs and buying a car/truck. The benefit of a vehicle versus how much it will cost is a wash probably. UGH!

What makes me the most mad is that Chad's parents are refusing to give him the money that had alloted for him for college because he is not going where they wanted him to go. So much for unconditional love!

I will get the egg beaters next time at the grocery - thanks

Haven't caught up as yet guys - but :lovestruc to all of you!

I've run on for Kat's big night.

Kat!!!! Big night!!!! It is tonight, right? I should check the schedule. Anyway, I think it is. Won't be watching but will be thinking about you and cheering for you. Hope things turn out great!

Will be back guys........

I am here and I am really proud of myself. Carsyn and I just got back from a huge walk for me (2.3 miles!!!) and before that I gardened for about 20 minutes bending and pulling. (A PSA to all who drove by my @ss: Sorry :scared1:)

My totals for the day were

CALORIES 1,219 (1200-1500)
CARBS 130 (165-240)
FAT 47 (45-55)
PROTEIN 71 (60-136)

In the history of the world I have never been short in carbs.

I do need a small snack to take my meds with but I will be good I swear. This is the first day I truly believe I feel really great about my day for both components. My feet have blisters so different shoes tom. Carsyn pushed me when I wanted to cut 1 full block out. She pulled the biggest loser card. "Would Jillian let you quit?"

According to all things Carsyn she wants my goal to be to be able to run 1 full mile before the end of summer. I did jog a few blocks and it wasn't so bad.

I hope I can beat that goal.

Have an awesome night everyone. I am feeling happy actually. What do endorphines feel like? If this is any prelude it may be addictive.;)
