In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Gotta get the kids to school (let them sleep in) and then I will come back and get caught up. And I have a faculty meeting on campus at noon. Back to reality with a Capital R.

Once again, Lyz, thank you for asking all of the questions that need answers. I love it! I hope the volume of your plate gets lighter.

Paula ~ new cardio equipment sounds like it is going to rock.

E ~ I can't wait to hear about your trip.

I know I can't wait for the new equipment. They will have regular training bikes and spinning bikes. I'm sure the spinning bikes will kick my butt, but it is a new goal to work towards and you know I am all about being goal oriented.

Dawn! That's awesome!

I'm proud of you too. Awesome day, Dawn. :thumbsup2
Down almost 3 pounds form yesterday. Motivation for day 2! Thanks for the support!
But the trip was G.R.E.A.T. and I will write up a TR for the days on the cruise and post them over the next few days. I will catch up here as well, just not tonight.
I want loads of details!
50 - 75 grams of carbs while I was over on my insulin count. I have bumped up to about 100 grams now (whole grains, fruits & veggies only ~ no white flour and very little starch).
Thanks for the specifics. I am trying to get out white flour as we buy new groceries.
Hi!

Nancy, Dawn - great suggestions and support re Jodi. Journal is a great idea.
Hope if she uses it that it helps.
My mom is doing okay. No lung issues, no infections. Tests look good. More tests to come and back on chemo. So she's stable, but the heart is still a concern. That's where we are with that.
I hope for good news soon there as well.
Dawn - I LOVE buttered crackers. Saletines, though. Very Kirstie Alley of me! :lmao: Way to go on the walk!
Very sophisticated are we? :lmao:
Me - tracking this week. Tough days, challenges, but tracking. Ran once. Weighing in on Monday, hopefully will run tomorrow, too. Baby steps back to reality. Reading Naturally Thin and loving it. Real Housewives Bethany's book. On the job hunt next week. Must get a new gig by September.
I am with ya sistah.:scared1:
Emily goes to Jodi, then overnight with my eveeeel MIL who taught Em to say "sh$t!". Nice, eh? She said it JUST like my MIL does, who denied saying it around her, then said it in the same tone 5 mins later. Sigh. She loves us and means well, but Lordy, woman, I am on the edge! Do not push me! :rotfl:
Laughed at this one! Wish I could hear the accent. :rotfl2:

Dawn - great job with the walking and tracking yesteray. Keep up the good work and tell Carsyn that I am liking her training style.
I knew you would! She is working on a plan and telling me when we should be having supper basedon her eating schedule so she doesn't eat too early and get hungry at night. I said, "Well what if I eat differently? My lunch is not at the same time as yours at school." She said giggling the whole time, "You got your man so you have more time to loose and should be more flexible. This is about me." :rotfl: Then I found out the reason for the prioritazation.
That would be Lars.
From Germany.
Who leaves in one month.:lmao:

Have a great day all! Off to order countertops!

Well, I got home at about 3:30AM and went to bed at 4. Got up at 9:30 or so as someone is currently taking care of my lawn, and since this is the first time I have ever done this, I wanted to "supervise". I usually mow my own lawn, but for $25, it's worth it to have a free day over the weekend.

There were probably 500-1000 people there last night, the local radio station giving out free t-shirts and posters, and a local restaurant was cooking and giving out free bbq sandwiches. Fun times!

This next series is harder for me (and this comment is really meant for LisaV) because I grew up in Pittsburgh, and a Pens fan. I have been here for 9 years now and this is where I have chosen to be my home so I root for my "hometown" team, now. But, there is still a soft spot in my heart for the Pens.

Okay, enough about sports.

Liz, glad to see you back posting here. Prayers and hugs.

Lyz, love the questions. And I am so bad with library books that I no longer try.

E, looking forward to the trip report!

Paula, the gym facelift should be fun. Like a whole new place!

Nancy, LisaPR, LisaV, EE, Amy, everyone else (sorry if I missed you, remember, no sleep, at least for me!),

Paula - do you have an ipod? New equipment sounds great!

Kat - fun partying in the middle of the night. Did you get a free t?

I do have an ipod and totally love it. I really want to upgrade to an itouch, but it is not in the budget at the moment. I guess the new equipment has docks for it so you can watch video, podcasts, etc. Should be fun.

Kat - the arrival party sounded like fun. Now rest up, there is another round to get through.

My apologies to everyone else as I have to cut this short. Thinking of you all though. bye for now....

Hi Amiee.:lovestruc

Amy - loved seeing your TR. And so glad you got away.

Roddy - good to see you. I saw Star Trek. Loved seeing Winona Ryder. Nice surprise.

Oh, Lisa, I'm actually glad you posted that because it reminded me of something I forgot to post last night. ;)

I talked to my brother, he's working nights this weekend and so he's off next weekend and I asked him if he could go see Star Trek with me next week sometime and he said yeah, so maybe nothing will interrupt that. We'd been planning to see it when it came out but we like to wait a week or two so the crowds will thin out. Also, we didn't count on so many movies coming out that we'd want to go see. So, the list is looking like this: Star Trek, Wolverine, Terminator Salvation and by the time we get all of those watched it'll be time for HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE :cheer2:

Liz - I was thinking about you the other day, I turned the tv on and the "Clerks" cartoon was on! :rotfl2:

Roddy - We are going to hold you to this you know...

That's why I checked with him before I said I would definitely see it next week. :rotfl:

I knew you and Amy would be pissed if I didn't. So barring any major upsets with my brother or me, we'll be discussing Star Trek next weekend!:lmao:

Hey Everyone!

Erika- Can't wait to hear about the cruise!! Spinning with Goofy sounds like fun!

Lyz- That sucks about the cabin in Gatlinburg. We have done a couple day trips there. We have been lucky with the cabins this particular company rents. Totally immaculate.

Liz-My parents saw BRUCE last night. In Albany maybe? Not sure. Enjoy the concert!!

Kat-Going to RDU to meet the team sounded like it was fun!! What games are you going to go to?? I was so happy when I saw they had won. DH has a friend who grew up in Pittsburgh and lives in NC now. I think he is rooting for the pens.

Paula- I think they might throw us off the board if we talk star trek too much.:lmao::lmao: I will be happy to provide the "I know nothing about ST, but loved the movie anyhow" review!!

Roddy-We saw ST on opening night last friday. Granted it was a late show, but there was like no one in the theater. And this is a brand new super nice theater! I was surprised, but it was nice to not be in a crowded theater.

Not much going on here to report. We are going camping next weekend! We got lucky and scored a site when someone cancelled a reservation. We're are going about 90 miles north of here, in the national forest. Lots of cool springs to swim in, with no worries of brain amoebas. And we will be roughing it this time. Tent camping!! I love it!

Have a good one!

It was definitely fun! But I am a$$-dragging today, that's for sure.

I didn't have tickets for any game until today... when I decided to sign up for a ticket package for next year, and get the possible 6 games for the next two rounds. My wallet is crying.

Off to sleep on my desk...

Amy - Bruce was in Albany last night. Glad your parents got to see him. That got me thinking, next time you come up to VT, we need to get together.

Roddy - I'll rmember all of the good stuff.

Kat - get some rest and enjoy the playoff games. Congrats on the ticket package. Nice knowing you have tickets to some of the games. If only for the tailgating right?

So sleepy this afternoon. My hives kicked into overdrive today (after many weeks of them being just a little annoying) and I had to take a benadryl to quiet them down. I am ready to fall asleep at my desk. If you hear a thud, it is my head hitting the desk...

I am buying Claritin to keep in my desk this weekend. I hate the Benadryl coma affect I've got going on right now...

The sun is shining today. Hopefully, it is doing the same where you are. If so, get out and enjoy it.

Paula- we must try to meet up when I am up there again. With how SW is doing their direct flights back to Tampa now (at the a$$ crack of dawn-GRR), we'll be staying overnight in Albany the day before. So it would be easy to meet for coffee or something.

Kat- Woo-hoo on the tickets!! Awesome!

I just set up our tent. We have not camped with it since right before I got pregnant. It is in great shape, but I do not think it will fit all 3 of us comfortably. Target has a great sale though on a bigger tent, and I can probably craigslist this one to get some money. it is a great LL bean tent, just too small.

I am enjoying a late afternoon Summer Shandy. Yum. Speaking of beer, Kat, when we were in NC, we found out that our favorite beer from Colorado is on sale in NC and TN now. Fat Tire. Pretty much my fave beer ever. We could not find any, since I think only specialty stores and Harris teeter have it, and we were in the middle of nowhere without those stores, but I can not WAIT to road trip up there so we can bring back a case.

Cheers!
Amy

Amy, that's interesting that you bring up Fat Tire. D had it in CO and just had me try it a week or so ago. It's definitely a good beer! We could actually get a keg of it at the local keg place we use, if we wanted.

If I could ship some to you, I would, but I am not sure that is legal?

My fav summer beer is Sam Summer Ale, but we had a moratorium on Boston products for the last 2 weeks. ;)

Right now Dos Equis Amber is on tap.

Kat- I am SO SO jealous of your kegerator (or however you spell it)! What size keg fits in it?

I am sure it is SO illegal to send beer. I appreciate the thought though!! We can order it online through a distributor for reasonable shipping costs. DH found out that it will not be sold in FL anytime soon. Every other SE state but FL. Grrrr.

I just called DH to do a beer run on his way home. I told him to get whatever summer beers they had. Sam Summer is good!! I saw a review comparing fat tire to a glorified budweiser..WHAT???

1/2 keg is as big as they sell. It fits 1/2, 1/4, 1/6, and we have the CO2 as well, so it will keep a keg as long as 2-3 months (not that they last that long!). E has a at least a 3 tap system, I believe. Which blows mine out of the water!!

I love Sam Summer. It is probably in my top 5. Harpoon IPA is up there, too. A friend at work told me to try Bell's Two Hearted Ale, so I may at some point. We also drink some Carolina brews around here, Carolina Pale Ale is another fav but you can't get that one out of the Triangle. And all of the Highland Brewery product, of course. Next time you come to NC you should do the brewery tour in Asheville, I think it is a cruise? A friend of mine did it and said it was awesome.

I am officially a season ticket holder, now. I don't have to commit to a specific package (12-game, 26-game, or full) until the fall, but 1/4 of what I spent today has to be used toward something next year or be forfeit.

Hope everyone had a great day!!! Any fun weekend plans?

Kat: I looked up the brewery tour, DH and I are SO doing that when we get back up there later this summer!

DH brought home a ton of beer! A Saranac summer variety 12 pack..Most of it looked good except for one called Pale Pale Ale. Blech. Also, more of my summer shandy and other random summer singles. Shipyard Summer, Harpoon Summer, Boulder Beer Sweaty Betty and Brooklyn Beer. So dangerous to send him to the beer store by himself.

so, my weekend will involve garden stuff, camp equipment organization and floating around in the pool with any of the above mentioned beers!!

Cheers!

Umm, if you were local, I would SO be there. Pool and beer sound GREAT.

Let me know how the pale pale ale is... sounds weird but interesting. I generally like what Saranac offers, esp their Pale Ale and IPA and Amber. I have had Harpoon Summer, it's pretty good, but nothing compares to their IPA. I think I have had Brooklyn, as well, but not the others. Is the Summer Shandy local or can I get it too?

Also, maybe D and I can make it over to Asheville for the brewery tour. I have never been there and have always wanted to check it out, and I sure wouldn't have to convince D of anything involving beer!

I have gotten over the sticker shock of the tickets (and believe me, I think you all would DIE if you knew the number) and have moved to being SUPER excited about it. Like dance around the house excited. 2006 has a very fond place in my heart, and I look forward to at least 2 more games. And if they don't play any more than that, I get my money back (except for what goes to next year), and if they do, I get to go, so it's a win-win in my book.
