In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

I'm home! And I have 235 e-mails. CRAP. And two online conferences tonight. Double crap!

But the trip was G.R.E.A.T. and I will write up a TR for the days on the cruise and post them over the next few days. I will catch up here as well, just not tonight.

Amiee - thanks for the great suggestion. What do you eat for carbs a day?

50 - 75 grams of carbs while I was over on my insulin count. I have bumped up to about 100 grams now (whole grains, fruits & veggies only ~ no white flour and very little starch).

Hi!

Nancy, Dawn - great suggestions and support re Jodi. Journal is a great idea.

Lyz - I've been thinking about God meeting her where she is. I believe that. They are both unchurched, so it's so foreign to them. I know He is with them even if they don't know it.

Everyone - the prayers work and mean so much. Thank you. I do feel Gen is doing well, it's still her parents my heart aches for.

My mom is doing okay. No lung issues, no infections. Tests look good. More tests to come and back on chemo. So she's stable, but the heart is still a concern. That's where we are with that.

Lots of emotional ups and downs here. It's very heavy, and busy with errands, but we have sort of bookended the weeks with music - concerts - so that keeps my soul sane. :goodvibes

Nick and I need to check in more - this is a strain even on a guy like Nick. Did I tell you what we are doing for his birthday? We always say "He's not Nick" when referring to guys. Like, "oh, Nick is okay with that." "Liz, he's not Nick". We do this in front of the other guy in question. So for his birthday we're going to order shirts that say "Not Nick" on them. His dad will get one that says "Not That Nick". We find this Hi Lar Ious! :rotfl:

Erika, welcome back.

Steph, miss you.

Kelly, I want to kill my MIL and I am taking strength from you!

Kat, Nancy - Kirstie Alley! YES!!! Me, too!

Kat - um, Go Canes?

Lisa PR - thank you for thinking about us. :goodvibes

Roddy - good to see you check in. Been asking about you!

Paula - Golf, gym, bike...you're going to be Sporty Spice!

Dawn - I LOVE buttered crackers. Saletines, though. Very Kirstie Alley of me! :lmao: Way to go on the walk!

Amy - love all the pictures!!! D is getting soooo big!

Sorry if I missed anyone!!!

Me - tracking this week. Tough days, challenges, but tracking. Ran once. Weighing in on Monday, hopefully will run tomorrow, too. Baby steps back to reality. Reading Naturally Thin and loving it. Real Housewives Bethany's book. On the job hunt next week. Must get a new gig by September.

Tomorrow we go to see Bruuuuuce on Hershey, PA. My parents and Nick and I. Emily goes to Jodi, then overnight with my eveeeel MIL who taught Em to say "sh$t!". Nice, eh? She said it JUST like my MIL does, who denied saying it around her, then said it in the same tone 5 mins later. Sigh. She loves us and means well, but Lordy, woman, I am on the edge! Do not push me! :rotfl:

So, will be reading but signing off until Saturday or Sunday. Thanks, guys, for everything. I think about all of you all the time, and your support for me and mine means the world to us. Jodi and Greg know about your love and prayers and they feel it, too. :goodvibes You're with me even when I'm scarce online.

xoxo

Okay,

Catching up while watching.

All I think about when I see hockey is one - Dennis Leary cause I love him. :lovestruc and two - sponge toffee. Cause I spent so much of my childhood sitting watching siblings play and eating that crap. :lmao:

Ronda - Ronda, I'm so sorry about your cat. Heartbreaking. I'm so sorry Ronda.

Liz - caught up about Jodi. I won't bore you with the details. But Larissa, my preemie niece, brought up so many strange and varied feelings for everyone. Especially her parents. So completely understand.

And  to you in general. Glad to hear some news about your Mom.

Just talked to EriKa! She's at airport waiting to come home. They had a good time, and decided they like Disney Cruise Line, course who doesn't?

I can't wait for the TR!:yay:

Yay!!! I can't wait to hear about it. I am so there for cruise #2.

And, we were not roughing it by any means..This is the cabin we stayed it. It only cost 140/night.

100_6345.JPG

So pretty! This is my idea of roughing it. Awesome dress too!

Hi everyone...

It has been a very windy day up here. Thankfully, nothing blew off the roof (including me).

Oh no! I hope my bad weather karma didn't send the winds your way!

Oh - have you given egg beaters a try? Way less fat and cholesterol and so easy to make. Just open the container, pour into a bowl and microwave. Light, fluffy and yummy. They taste just like real eggs. Just a thought.

I am wrapping up a few things here and then off for my punishment / training session. Catch you all later.

I swear by egg beaters. They are my life saver. My stand by under 200 calorie snack/dinner is eggbeaters toss in the microwave with a boca crumbled on top. Through in a nice salad (no dressing for me) ~ heaven. Oh and it's fills me up instead of out.

Amy, I need to try running again too. Been considering doing the local Komen, which is June 13th. I am not too sure about a 5K in June in NC, but hey, you only die once, right?

The gain likely just water weight. I am sure it will come off quickly.

I of course really want the 'Canes to win tonight, but some part of me is on the fence. If they win, they face my #2 team (I grew up near Pittsburgh), and I am honestly not sure my wallet nor my waistline would benefit from another local playoff round. So either way I will be okay (can you hear the rationalizing from there?)...

June would be better than August, lol. Go for it!

Hey All,

Sorry I've been absent, I've been swamped with work lately and crashing pretty much as soon as I've been getting home. I haven't had a chance to catch up and probably won't because it'll take to long. I'll probably be scarce for another week or so, 'til my work load lightens a little. :scared1:

Amy, Nancy and Paula, I've not seen Star Trek, yet. However, it will be at least a week from today before I'm able to possibly longer but I plan to see it asafp. :rotfl2: So, please be patient with me! Oh, the garden grows, I should have some peppers before long. Still a bit before any zucchini, cucumbers or squash will be available. :rolleyes1

Erika, Liz, Lyz and anyone I might have accidentally missed hope yall and your families are all doing well. Take care! ;)

Welcome back! Peppers are on their way here, but so tiny for now. They would be better if the rain would let up.

Welcome back E! Details (after you have a few minutes to breathe)!

I have so much to say here Liz. First, glad that your mom is doing ok. Excited for you to see Bruce. Hey, I wonder what you would do if you had the chance to give him your parking space. Now on to the main thing, the unchurched/under-churched God meeting her where she is deal. I so understand this (both your side and her side). It took a huge event in my life to re-establish my relationship with God (after many many years).

LisaV ~ so good to hear from you!

Yippie Kat!!! Are you still alive over there?!?

O. M. G. !!!!!

I will comment on everything else a bit later. Right now, I am going to go be a freak and greet the team at the airport. I live about 5 min from RDU and a friend is on the way to pick me up... :)

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:Love it Kat!! Have fun. ::lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Hi Amiee.:lovestruc

Amy - loved seeing your TR. And so glad you got away.

Roddy - good to see you. I saw Star Trek. Loved seeing Winona Ryder. Nice surprise.

Still getting caught up but needed to chime in with a few things--

Ronda--so sorry about your cat! Hang in there.

Kelly--awesome job on the loss!

Nancy--you just amaze me with all that you do.

Lyz--if you want help finding the way back to the wagon, we can look together. OMG, I ate a lot this week.

Liz--still praying for Greg, Jodi, Gen as well as Sylvia.

Paula--this is for you b/c I thought you would get a kick out of it. The second day of the cruise I took a spinning class (are we shocked that I worked out? Not! :rotfl2:) and all of a sudden, there is Goofy on a bike in the class with us! HI LAR IOUS. And, of course, he kept "goofing up" all of the commands. The next day I was running on the treadmill and in he came again! Tried to work the treadmill but just couldn't do it! SO cute! I was thinking the whole time, "Paula would love this!" Of course I didn't have my camera so didn't get pics.

Also, in the spa one day in the Rainforest Room....relaxing in this special chair. And Donald comes in and gets in the chair next to me. Puts his hands behind his head and relaxes back into the chair. Loved it!

Just a few trip report tid bits. More to come in the next few days!

welcome back. Reality bites doesn't it

E ~ even I would enjoy a spinning class (as long as goofy was involved).

Good Morning Everybody! I don't have much time because I have to get my daughter to her last day of preschool. She is milking it bigtime.

Amy - your cabin looked AWESOME!

Did I tell you about the time we went to Gatlinburg and rented a cabin? We arrived and found it "less" than advertised. It was, uh, grubby. Like the couch felt skanky, there was a disposable razor in the shower (which the maid should have caught had she cleaned it), the carpet was aaack! We left the next morning and came home because we could NOT stay there. The rental place was closed over the weekend, so I sent a scathing fax to the mgmt.

Nick and I need to check in more - this is a strain even on a guy like Nick. Did I tell you what we are doing for his birthday? We always say "He's not Nick" when referring to guys. Funny!

Me - tracking this week. Tough days, challenges, but tracking.

I am tracking this week also. It's U.G.L.Y., but documented.

Tomorrow we go to see Bruuuuuce on Hershey, PA. My parents and Nick and I.

Have an awesome time. HERSHEY PA!!!!

All I think about when I see hockey is one - Dennis Leary cause I love him. :lovestruc and two - sponge toffee. Cause I spent so much of my childhood sitting watching siblings play and eating that crap. :lmao:

Mmmmm, sponge toffee. I love that stuff. We call it honeycomb.

I swear by egg beaters. They are my life saver. My stand by under 200 calorie snack/dinner is eggbeaters toss in the microwave with a boca crumbled on top. Through in a nice salad (no dressing for me) ~ heaven. Oh and it's fills me up instead of out.

I need to try eggbeaters in the microwave since you guys keep raving about it.

O. M. G. !!!!!

:lmao:Kat! That is funny and awesome all at the same time. I'd totally go if I was that close and so excited. (course I didn't bother to go see Palin or Obama when they were a block from my office.) I bet you are tired this morning.

Lyz--if you want help finding the way back to the wagon, we can look together. OMG, I ate a lot this week.

I bet. I still remember the stuffed tomato at AP, the nachos at PC, and EVERYTHING from Palo. Espically the raspberries. So big! And the black olive tapenade. That was the first time I had olive tapenade, now we keep it in the fridge. SO good.

Paula--this is for you b/c I thought you would get a kick out of it. The second day of the cruise I took a spinning class (are we shocked that I worked out? Wow! I absolutely can't wait.

I'll start asking questions so you can work them into your TR.
Did you kids go to the clubs? They like?
What did you think of Castaway Cay?
Will you go on another cruise?
Ok, I realize that is not a good plan. I'll have more questions when I see exactly what you did.

Nancy - I was thinking of you last night. You have a job. Your husband has a job. Then you have the farm. Who is primarily in charge of the farm? Your husband or you? Who's baby is that?

I have way to much on my plate this week. I forgot to send snack in for Maddi's class on Wednesday! I didn't even realize it till this morning. Horrible. Oh, and I can't find Maddi's library book "There's a Wocket in my Pocket"!

Just a few trip report tid bits. More to come in the next few days!

Erika - WELCOME HOME!!!!! We missed you around here.
Goofy in an exercise class... how awesome is that. Of course it would have totally messed up my workout, but who cares, it is Goofy after all. Sounds like you had a great time and I can't wait to hear all about it.

Oh - did I mention that my gym is getting all new cardio equipment with ports for ipods, individual TV's and wait for it.... spinning bikes. They are supposed to arrive next month.

Liz - forgot to tell you that Bruce was in town last night. Sadly, I couldn't get tickets for it (otherwise I would have insisted on kidnapping you for the show). The reviews said the show was awesome though.

Dawn - great job with the walking and tracking yesteray. Keep up the good work and tell Carsyn that I am liking her training style.

Kat - GO CANES!!!! you little hockey geek you going to greet the team at the airport. Enjoy the playoffs girl.

Roddy - Don't work too hard. Can't wait to talk Star Trek with you, but I can wait.

Hi to everyone else...

Not much going on here (which is a very good thing). Jesse says that Thursdays are my new core days now, so we worked on my core for the entire session last night. I found myself in contortions (like super planks) that I never thought would be possible for me so I guess I am making progress huh.

OK - off to get some more work done. I like to have a clean desk by the end of the day on Friday and there is a lot of things to do to make that happen.

I'll check in with you all later...
