In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Tomorrow we go to see Bruuuuuce on Hershey, PA.

Have a GREAT time Liz! :goodvibes

I swear by egg beaters. They are my life saver. My stand by under 200 calorie snack/dinner is eggbeaters toss in the microwave with a boca crumbled on top. Through in a nice salad (no dressing for me) ~ heaven. Oh and it's fills me up instead of out.

Question. Is that Boca sausage? Boca Burger? :confused3

And :lovestruc loved that "fills me up instead of out"

So cute Nancy. Thanks for that. Made me smile. :lovestruc

:flower3: I aim to please, ya know

Mmmmm, sponge toffee. I love that stuff. We call it honeycomb.

Ok. What the <bleep> is sponge toffee??? :confused3

Nancy - I was thinking of you last night. You have a job. Your husband has a job. Then you have the farm. Who is primarily in charge of the farm? Your husband or you? Who's baby is that?[/COLOR][/B]

It is most definitely a team effort. But, I honestly have to say that Stephen does a higher percentage of "farm work" than the rest of us.

He really loves it though. He grew up on a dairy farm. And now he works as a software developer. So the farm work gets him out of his cave (his office. no window.) and just is so totally different from his paying work. It may be "work" but he finds it truly relaxing. Mostly :rolleyes1

Erika - WELCOME HOME!!!!! We missed you around here.

wait. She was away? :confused3

Kidding. Of course we missed you! :upsidedow Welcome home!!!

Oh - did I mention that my gym is getting all new cardio equipment with ports for ipods, individual TV's and wait for it.... spinning bikes. They are supposed to arrive next month.

:yay: That is so totally exciting!

This next series is harder for me (and this comment is really meant for LisaV) because I grew up in Pittsburgh, and a Pens fan. I have been here for 9 years now and this is where I have chosen to be my home so I root for my "hometown" team, now. But, there is still a soft spot in my heart for the Pens.

Wait. Shouldn't that make it EASIER? I mean, if you like both teams then whoever wins...you'll still have a team in the tournament :confused3

Roddy - in case you were wondering. You were gone too long. Now I must torment you with this :confused3:confused3:confused3

Wait. Shouldn't that make it EASIER? I mean, if you like both teams then whoever wins...you'll still have a team in the tournament :confused3

Yes, and no. Yes, for the reason you mentioned. No, because of many reasons: Confliction on who to root for. Rooting for the team in the town I am in, but dealing with the trash talk for the team that I grew up with. I am pretty involved on some 'Canes message boards, and in the hockey community here. Plus, my husband HATES the Pens so I have to listen to him bash them for 2 weeks.

I can understand why Stephen likes working on the farm. Getting away from :surfweb: sometimes is probably a nice diversion.

I am also wondering what sponge toffee is.

Liz, forgot to say have fun watching Bruuuce!!

I love the BeeGees. Now I must listen to them. :lmao:

And, no Nancy, I didn't forget. :sad2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hi everyone...

Amy - I drove past the Albany airport today, so we must get together the next time you are in time. I even know where there are some great microbrews and an awesome store to buy beer from. Thy have over 100 different types to choose from.

Kat - congrats on the tickets. You are going to love them no matter the price. Think of it like a bunch of Coach purses to Liz and Lyz kind of love. :rotfl:

Not much going on here. Went to dinner with my sister and some friends and then did a little shopping. Nothing much for me - just a sweater, but it makes me look so small that I had to get it. I'll try and get a pic of me in it and post it.

After my training session tomorrow I am off to my parents' camp for the rest of the weekend. I haven't spent much time with them these past few weeks and need to reconnect a bit. Plus there is some work that needs to be done and Dad can't lift much yet. I am planning on bringing my bike with me to get that first real ride in while I am up there.

Off to bed for me. Ciao'

Hi Everybody! Just wanted to pop in. I'm not going to be around too long tonight because I have a 5:45 wake up call. That's am, lol. I hope to hang out a little more this weekend.

Nancy, the boca I use is flame grilled burger. I swear by it.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me why any kindergartener can upload pictures to FB, but I can't? sheesh. It's really starting to piss me off!

:woohoo::woohoo:

Oh - and if you need help posting pics, do NOT ask me

Enjoy the weekend Paula!

Nancy, the boca I use is flame grilled burger. I swear by it.

I love that one too.

Kat- I'm thinking "sponge toffee" sounds nasty :scared:

Roddy - it was "jive talking" that I just had to have :rotfl2:

Nancy--Saw the prom pics on FB! Was it tonight? Made me a little nostalgic for my prom. I find it easier to upload pics to FB through IE. Firefix doesn't always work.

Paula--Have fun this weekend! And we must see the sweater! We are planning our next trips up north to New England and NC once we get totally sick of the heat here and/or hurricane threats!!

Kat--Summer Shandy is brewed by leinenkugel. It is from WI, but I think is pretty readily available. They also have a sunset wheat and an amber that is good. Asheville is awesome! There is an great bar in Asheville called the thirsty monk. So many cool beers on tap. And all the right glasses too. Very mellow atmosphere.

Liz--How was Bruce?

EE-I started in on the demon book. I love it!

Off to bed for me!

Kat - Sponge Toffee is the crap inside a Crunchie chocolate bar.

Crunchie isn't Canadian, is it? I'm forever trying to figure out what is Canadian? :lmao: That's pathetic. I think Smarties and Coffee Crisp. Don't mind me.

Anyway, Cutie said they call it Honey crap ...what did she say?:lmao: Honey comb? We call it sponge toffee and it was in abundance in local hockey rinks in the 1960s/70s. You know those decades? :lmao:

I'm thinking that Kelly might know. Most things translate Canadian to British a heck of a lot easier.

Here we go - everything you wanted to know about it and were afraid to ask:laughing:;):

Sponge toffee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Sponge toffee, also known as honeycomb or cinder toffeeSponge toffee is a sugary confection with a light, rigid, foam-like texture.

The main ingredients are typically brown sugar, corn syrup (or molasses) and baking soda, sometimes with an acid such as vinegar. The baking soda and acid react to form carbon dioxide which is trapped in the highly viscous mixture. When acid is not used thermal decomposition of the baking soda releases carbon dioxide. The lattice structure is formed while the sugar is liquid, then the toffee sets hard.

It is generally home-made, and a popular recipe for children, but is also made commercially and sold in small blocks, or covered in chocolate (popular examples being the Crunchie or Violet Crumble bar).

[edit] Regional names
It is known by a wide variety of names including:

honeycomb toffee in Britain
honeycomb in South Africa and Australia and Britain
cinder toffee in Britain
yellow man in Northern Ireland
puff candy in Scotland [1]
hokey pokey in Cornwall, New Zealand (especially in the Kiwi classic Hokey Pokey ice cream).
sponge candy in Erie, Pennsylvania and Buffalo, New York, USA
sea foam in Washington, Oregon, California and Michigan, USA
fairy food candy or angel food candy in Wisconsin, USA

Wow Kat - tough series. Hometown vs. "hometown". I forgot. Eeek. Interesting. Fantastic on the tickets. I can imagine those tickets $$$$ but really Kat if it brings you such happy moments and memories - worth all of that. For sure.

Jean and I get "sprite zone" - read cheap as heck - tickets for the Raptors every year and they suck most years and I still adore it.

Crosby. He looks like a football player, eh?

Sorry for no trip report today. I am so busy getting caught up with work. Maybe tomorrow. But Jeff leaves for Asia on Sunday, so helping him get ready and spending time as a family will come first.

Lisa V - I knew what you were talking about - we call it angel food chocolate here or sponge chocolate. One of my fave's form childhood and my mom will usually get me a small box of it at Christmas. That is the only time actually I think I ever see it here.
Very sweet. A piece and I am done.

Nancy - post some prom pics here please! :worship: And I agree - kids learn so much faster than I do.

Prom tonight here. I will get some pics uploaded soon after I hope.

Baylor's team won their first tourney game last night. He got the winning goal and it made his day. Beforehand - we were at Kohls and an guy about 65 was by our register at check out. He said to Baylor, "It looks like you forgot a sock. When are you kids going to realize that you just look stupid and not cool with those stunts you pull."

Baylor just looked at him. He started getting tears in his eyes and I looked at the guy and said, "That is a compression stocking because he was burned. Thank you though for helping build his self esteem.":headache:

The guy appologized and I know he was just a crotchity old fart who is sick of the bagging and sagging of a lot of todays youth. I am just amazed though how much people feel is in their comfort zone to tell others how to behave. I also am realizing that Baylor is really going to need some guidance on how to handle a situation about his burns because it does come up often. He posted a picof hisleg on his myspace page and I was really proud of him for accepting his scars and wanting to not hide them form his friends. That is a huge accomplishment for him.

I probably could have handled it better myself but we had just spent 2 hours trying to find a dress shoe that did not rub his graph site wrong and cause blisters and the tears from being frusterated with your body was very raw and I get that, although different with weight. I didn't smack him with my purse though. And I didn't jump the counter and pounce on him like Edward would have. I wanted to though.;)

Have a great day all.

Down 4 pounds from Wednesday! :cool1:

Paula - have a great time with your parents!
E - you and your kids must be dreading Sunday on some fronts. I would be. Esp. after coming back from such a great family vacation to have Jeff have to leave. That would be hard. Thinking of you.

Hi Everyone! I know I have been MIA.... but I tend to get on here and not get off of the computer. So instead of computing I have been walking. 3.5 miles three days this week. Plus I have been working like crazy! Plus through in a 2 hours seasons finale of Grey's anatomy. Which I have watched three times and cried all three times. So yesterday I just chilled since it was my day off, (which work did call me to come in and I gracefully declined) My boss totally understood since I hadn't had a day off since mothers day and now won't have a day off till Wednesday.
Last night Sam and I drove over to Vermont and sold off all the unused baby gear that was sitting around here. Then we came home and watched the guys fish. They got two bucket full of bull head (catfish) Not my particular type of fish but they can eat it!
It's been a rough week with Tyler's allergies with all the pollen his breathing has been crappy. SO it's been nebulizer treatments along with his inhalers and antihistamines. Long Nights.
So I also have a new obsession "The Duggars" yes you read that right I have been watching them all week... I am just amazed at the cooperation in the family. I grew up with a family of 15 and it was the same in that family. They had 6 boys of their own and then adopted 4 korean girls and an american boy for a total of 11. Then they got a foster family of 4 for a week and they ended up staying with them for 4 years and they finally adopted them. So it was always fun to go over to their house.

As for my weight I have been walking and eating and eating. So weight hasn't moved but it surely hasn't gone down. The choices haven't been great either they have magic bars at work and mmmmm they are so good. I am trying to stay away from them but I can't so I am trying to bring my own stuff into work so I avoid the cafeteria. Limiting the soda and drinking water.

Updating my playlist.

Just had to put some BeeGees on....:rotfl2:
I love the BEE GEE's I used to have a bee gee's lunch box. I was sooo coooolll! I also have them on my playlist.

Hope everyone is doing ok I have quickly scanned through pages to try to keep up.

The stuff inside a Crunchie Bar = Honeycomb!
Cinder Toffee is Honeycomb, but more dense and well done!

Ok, how rude!
Do you want me to come over there and smash his face in on Baylors behalf, because I will! :rotfl2:
Im glad hes beginning to accept his scars

Awesome on the -4lbs since Wednesday :cool1:

Plus through in a 2 hours seasons finale of Grey's anatomy. Which I have watched three times and cried all three times.

OH MY GOODNESS - I cant believe you've seen the Grey's Anatomy finale (why I can't believe it I don't know, seeing as though Im about 6 weeks behind with it over here)
So, Its going to make me cry is it? I must respectfully ask that the words 'Grey's' and 'Anatomy' aren't mentioned again :rotfl2::lmao:

Im at work - and Im bored! Just looking out of the window at a wonderful thunder and lightning rainstorm we are having - no wonder people don't want to come out!

ETA: - For anyone not understanding my slang, I realise 'smash his face in' sounds a little harsh :lmao: To me it just means give a little slap! :lmao:

Two baseball games down, one to go. This is going to be how my Saturdays go for the next month. So far, so good. Riley and Cam both played well, so now we all get to go watch Kel, then up to camp. I would kill not to go up to camp today, but we have some stuff that has to get done. Once Jeff gets on the plane, then I can focus on getting caught up here.

Of course, summer school starts on Monday, but that is another story.

Good morning everyone...

Back from the gym and am getting ready to head for camp. The rain clouds are threatening so I haven't decided if I am bringing the bike up or not. I am going to give it another hour and then decide.

Enjoy your weekend everyone and enjoy time spent with your family and friends. That's what the weekends are all about right?

I'll check in with you all tomorrow night sometime.

The obsession with the Duggar family is too funny! I watch them to, I like to see if I know anyone in the shows. They live about 30 minutes south of me. I remember the first time I saw them, Jim Bob was running for some political office and there was a picture of the family in our local paper. Back then they didn't quite as many kids, maybe 7 or 8.

Also, both my kids had Fish Fries for Prom. Jen loves Catfish and hushpuppies!

On the weight loss front, I gained a pound at WW this week. I will have to make sure and get all of my points and water this week. I haven't been very good at tracking lately. And Jen has finally started WW. She's doing the online version but she has lost 8 pounds. I'm soooo proud of her!:cool1:

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Kelly I will respectfully not mention Grey's! But yes you WILL NEED TISSUES for both the last two episodes. The finale is two hours so tissues for that and tissues for the week before!

It's raining here to! My mom just bought a bunch of flowers and wanted to go garden but the heavens OPENED!
Kelly what is it you do again for work? Oh and I totally get your slang! I am the SAME way!

Oh sunny you have to share some recipes with me! SO I can impress the men folk with it! :rotfl2: Right now they batter it and fry it! I think my BIL has grilled it and he mentioned about smoking it too

Kelly, I am watching the 2nd-to-last CSI:NY right now, and will follow it with the season finale... :P

I have taken to watching the CBS shows at the end of the week, as they are available on our cable-on-demand, and for whatever reason they broadcast the season finale in the same week? :confused3

E, definitely take time for your family.

LisaV, thanks for the sponge toffee explanation!

Back to lazy Saturday... :goodvibes
