In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Hi Ladies! First, let me thank you for your well wishes and prayers and just thinking of me.

My sisters surgery went well as you know. It was scheduled for 5 hours, and when we saw the dr before surgery he told us, when I open her up, if it's not going to work, I'll not endanger her. I'll close her back up. We went and had breakfast then sat in the waiting room. Two hours went by and the dr walked up to my sisters entourage. (me, sister Em, mom, dad, Ali's husband and their very good friends (husband and wife), we were a spectacle.) The dr walked up and I thought "uh-oh" - I just knew the surgery didn't go. But it went very well. I've not gone into details, as they are very personal, but this surgery, we've been waiting for her to get for quite a while. She was avoiding it, as today was her 39th surgery and really, she's just so over being knocked out and cut open. But we pushed it thru as her quality of life was so suffering. The dr, he is just so awesome. He is thoughtful and really took good care of her. In his reasearch on her surgery today, he talked to many collegues and alot of them advised him to not touch her. I'm so thankful he did. He was worried about what he'd find when he opend her up, after all that work, but it was just smooth. She's in alot of pain right now, but still in good spirits. Her incision is right on her stomach and it hurts to laugh, but my family, that's what we do. I literally needed to be gagged. Ok, I'll quit going on and on, I'm on a high.

So glad things are going well. :goodvibes

I had the Boca this morning and it was very good! I'm not a vegetarian either, but they really seem to help keep the hungries away.

...

So glad to hear everything went well! As far as the Boca's go, they are awesome in the microwave ~ serious. Quick too!

Definitely agree. Lots of protein, too!

Yup, I do the same thing. Slit in the top of the plastic, nuke for 1.5 min. I did pan-fry one the first time and couldn't tell mch of a diff between that and the nuking.

T-2 days to WDW. And I haven't even CONSIDERED packing.

Btw, I am going no-beer and no-cheating for the entire month of Feb. I may go no-alcohol as well, but definitely no beer. The weekend of my hockey tourny I will likely up the cals a bit (like to 1800 or so) since I have 3-4 games in 2 days, but other than that, strictly to 1200ish.

Well, I am not feeling like a good mom right now, but thanks. I was angry with J tonight and ended up snapping at the kids. I get so mad at myself when I do that. I instantly apologized to them, and I know that misplaced anger happens, but I still hate it just the same.

I am right there with you! I hate when I do that and feel like I am an inch tall.

So glad things are going well. :goodvibes

Better get packing!

I didn't notice much of a difference between pan and the microwave either. Don't really care for the plain ones, but the flavored ones rock. Gardenburger and Morning Star are pretty good too.

Lyz - I am really glad things went well with Alison's surgery. Call me tomorrow if you have a second. I want the details. And shush, don't tell E, she's stalking me. :rotfl2:

Paula - I'd love to hear more about what you do with the Girl Scouts. Bore me silly. I want all details.

Personal Days - I agree, I do this with Emily, too. After all, if you don't want to do something at 4, when else can you ditch easier???

Food today - 40pts. Yikes! (I get 22 a day, plus weekly).
Dinner with friend, lunch with friend. Nothing crazy, really. Snapper and wild rice and veggies, grilled chicken sandwich and soup, salad. And two dark chocolate covered pretzels, which only clock in at 3pts each. But sooo yum. One glass of wine. No exercise. That's my day, folks!

Also, parent conferences and my child is perfect. Smart, follows all the rules. But bossy! She tells the other girls (not boys) when they are not following the rules and what to do! So unlike me. I'd be bossing the boys around, too. :lmao: But they spoke to her and she stopped. So she is brilliant and will be going to kindergarten. Yay. They say she loves school. Maybe I should leave her there longer, eh? I love going to Target alone!

Well, if you don't want me to stalk you, then answer your phone! :rotfl2: Conference me in tomorrow, k? I want details, too.

Oh, and I am doing a long run tomorrow. Remember those? Gosh, it has been ages, it seems. Nervous, as always.

Good morning everyone! I tried to catch up but failed miserably. I hope you all forgive me. I have just been stupid busy lately with Mike gone all hours and 2 kids running every way but Sunday, it has been a little hectic here.

My eating has been okay. I had a bad day yesterday with too many errands and not enough time and I did not eat until dinner. I also did not realize I did not eat until I started cooking dinner and suddenly got REALLY hungry...:scared: I am amazed I got everything done yesterday running on zero. Anyway, I have made it to the gym with the girls and done my workouts as scheduled. I missed Tuesday partially due to an emergency road call from Mike and having to go get him. I was skiing and about as far from my house as I could possibly be. We went snowmobiling when we got home so I never got back to the workout. :sad2: I did 13 miles instead yesterday, 5 running, 5 walking and 3 elliptical. I am on track for my mileage at 25.13 for the week. I have a staff meeting today and won't get a workout in except for core later today. I will weigh in tomorrow morning.

All of you off alcohol, kudos to you. I am a very rare occasion drinker but I still like those rare occasions...::yes:: I applaud all of you and the changes you are making.

Lyz, sorry I missed the surgery thing. I am glad everything went well. Speedy healing sent...pixiedust:

Kat, you are not packed yet?? OMG, I would die...:faint: I am usually packed about a month in advance. Seriously, not kidding....stop laughing....:lmao:

Everyone else, :wave2: See I made an attempt at reading but my head is just so full right now (not congested that would be easier) and I will not be around much for awhile. I miss you all though. Keep up the great work and think of me once in awhile!! :flower3:

Hang in there Lisa:hug:

Only have a couple mins ~ let Ryan sleep late, well I got to sleep late. The boy was sawing logs all night and I could here him through my door. What a difference 1/2 hour makes!

Better news still! It's sunny this morning! What a way to get in a good mood quickly! :cheer2:

Morning!

Sorry you are so busy, Lisa! Great job getting your miles in, though! WOW, yesterday sounded like a LONG day.

Kat--so you leave on Friday (tomorrow) after work? Or are you doing the 4am Saturday thing? And details please--

Staying at BWV again?
Are you going to introduce D to Spoodles now that you know how awesome it is?
Other new places your might try? (You must be just about out of new places!)

I am trying to get some work done this morning so I can do my long run later. And if I can get through the long run, then it is pedicure time! Treat for the feet! But I have been having a weird hip pain all week. So I am not sure how the run will go. See you on the flip side. :goodvibes

OH. MY. GOD.

I just totally had my a$$ kicked.

Had a training session. Need a snack and a shower...then I'll be back to catch up.

OH. MY. GOD.

SHARE! I need a good a$$-kicking workout. I may have to sign up for that all-boy boot camp class I was doing last sprimg/summer. Now THAT was an a$$-kicker!

Lisa PR - I am always packed a month out, too. But Kat gets to go more often, so she can pack like it's just another week away...where's the smiley for jealous?

Nancy, did you get your body fat tested????

Kat, you are not packed yet?? OMG, I would die...:faint: I am usually packed about a month in advance. Seriously, not kidding....stop laughing....:lmao:

I will likely pack tonight. Remember, we drive, so it isn't as hard.

I do need to do laundry, pack, and shop for supplies tonight though. :)

Morning!

I am going to try MS one more time this afternoon and see if anything else has opened up, but our only choice when we called was SSR.

I think that this afternoon I am going to draft up a tentative touring plan.

Back in the day, I was a Jesse's Girl and he lived just up the road in Pasco.

Great. Now I have some twisted version of Rick Springfield running thru my head. "I wish that I were Jesse's girl....where can I find a trainer like that?" :lmao:

Hi gang - I am hating the fact that I can't post during the day anymore. I feel so out of the loop.

I understand completely! That's how I felt all fall when my work schedule was so nut-so. :guilty: Can you get on and READ even if you can't post? :confused3

Well, I am not feeling like a good mom right now, but thanks. I was angry with J tonight and ended up snapping at the kids. I get so mad at myself when I do that. I instantly apologized to them, and I know that misplaced anger happens, but I still hate it just the same.

I hate it when I do that too. BUT. Because you ARE a good mom - you apologize to them, letting them know that it was not *them* that caused your anger...thereby teaching them that a) adults do make mistakes; b) that it is appropriate for everyone to apologize when they do something they shouldn't; c) while it *is* ok to be upset or angry about something, that it's NOT okay to release that anger inappropriately; and d) modelling for them a *better* choice for how to act.

See? you ARE a good mom

Yup, I do the same thing. Slit in the top of the plastic, nuke for 1.5 min. I did pan-fry one the first time and couldn't tell mch of a diff between that and the nuking.

I love Boca's too! But I'm a "combo" person. I prefer to pan-fry them, but am too impatient to wait. SO. I slit the top, put in the microwave for 1 min to get it "started" ....then throw it in the pan to finish.

T-2 days to WDW. And I haven't even CONSIDERED packing.

Oh - don't pay any attention to these "have to pack in advance" people ;) I never pack until the evening before we leave. Probably has a lot to do with the fact that my laundry is never quite ready until then :laundy: I do, however, try "gather" things that I need...but with Walmart right there? eh. Who cares if I forget something (like DS and his toothbrush last time. Lost it somewhere between the band trip hotel room & meeting up with us...:confused3 )

Hmmm....I may have to join you for an additional 2 weeks of "alcohol free" (currently on board the wagon until Valentines Day)....let me get back to you on that one.

Food today - 40pts. Yikes! (I get 22 a day, plus weekly).

Did you have a good time? 'Cause really - somedays you just gotta do that. :flower3:

Also, parent conferences and my child is perfect.

yeah - like you didn't know that already? :confused3 Isn't it nice to know that other people see your child for the genius she really is? :goodvibes

Good morning everyone! I tried to catch up but failed miserably. I hope you all forgive me.

Thread bankruptcy. You are allowed once in a while :upsidedow

I did 13 miles instead yesterday, 5 running, 5 walking and 3 elliptical. I am on track for my mileage at 25.13 for the week.

Nice job! :cool1:

Are you going to introduce D to Spoodles now that you know how awesome it is?
Other new places your might try? (You must be just about out of new places!)

LOVE Spoodles (besides. It's just fun to say :rotfl2: )

But I have been having a weird hip pain all week. So I am not sure how the run will go. See you on the flip side. :goodvibes

Please - be careful if you have odd pains. Don't risk an injury! Stretch well...listen to your body. Question: how many miles do you have on your shoes? :confused3 I know I'm due for new ones myself.

Nancy - you're right. I did indulge, but I did it well. Good food, food I love. My kid - it's funny, I never know how she is in peer groups, because I don't see her in school a lot. And she's a little wild thing at home. But apparently she is a rule follower in school! And bossy - see below for where she gets this from.

I spend way too much time worrying about that kind of stuff.

Okay, Miss Nancy!

Body fat! Tell us, did you do it??? Did I miss it???

Also, Seth. Is he doing ROTC? Let's brag on him for a bit, shall we? This is major, a kid about to leave the nest. Let's hear more.

So. My workout. It was kind of like child birth. Painful as I went thru it, but now I'm struggling to recall the details of what went on! :rotfl2:

First - no, we didn't do body fat. I'm really disappointed. She had made a *bit* of a comment about the fact that Planet Fitness doesn't offer that as a service, so she needs to be really discreet when she does it. Not sure she really wants to - but we (my workout partner & I) are going to keep pushing her on it. And measurements? Didn't do those either -because - she wants us to do those first thing in the a.m....before we shower (yeah - like I shower before I go to the gym? :confused3 )...and definitely before we work out at all. We had gotten there early enough today to have a 10 minute warm up on the elliptical before she arrived...so it was "too late". Has to do with blood flow, etc apparently. SO. Tomorrow morning, hopefully hubby will help me :crazy2:

The workout.

We did a total body workout - using slightly less weight than usual, but doing sets of 18-24 - just a different way to hit the muscle.... with just a couple of INTENSE bursts of cardio sprinkled in.

Hopefully I won't miss anything here:

Quad extensions (3 sets)
Back - seated row (3 sets) followed immediately by lat pull-downs, 1 long, hard "till failure" set.
Chest presses- as heavy as we could possibly do (3 sets)

(wow. brain failure here. Trying to recall what we did :crazy2: )

abs/core circuit (3 times thru)
reverse curls (25)
crunches - more of an old school on the floor style - but on leg up, one down - 12 with each leg
plank - hold for 1 minute

in between ab circuits were cardio - which were KILLER.

First was TM - set at a "level 15 incline" ...we had to RUN for 5 minutes. No holding on (ack - I saw Jillian in her eyes  ) holy crap was that hard. At one point she told me to go faster - and I flipped her off ! :scared: She saw me...commented...so I told her I hated her :rotfl2: (of course, I'm PAYING for this torture. What the heck is WRONG with me :confused3 ) I do run a "random hill" program regularly - but it never, ever goes that steep!

Second cardio was on the recumbant bike - with a medicine ball held straight up over our heads. Hard. But not nearly as bad as the TM was (don't anyone tell her that. She'll make me do something worse next time. ;) )

Next circuit (3 times thru)
- we held 10 lb. dumbells...sounded "easy" until we DID it. My legs were seriously fatiuged already - that running incline did me in.

squats
dead lifts
lunges (stationary)
"clean & lift" shoulder press (kind of like an upright row straight into a shoulder press)
single arm pull/row things for the back (like..starting a lawnmower...that motion)
squat thrust jumps (that's what we call them - she called them...burp something or other? No weights on this one...It's basically a plyometric move - start standing, put hands on the floor, jump your feet out behind you so you are in a push-up position, jump them back in, jump up to standing...over and over and over )

finally ending with
biceps - concentration curls
tricep press downs.

Seems like I'm forgetting something....:confused3

Because we had the intense cardio thrown in here and there - my heart rate was "up" the entire time. When we were done, I hit the elliptical for 30 minutes.... :goodvibes

Oh thanks Nancy. Wonderful.

That is similar to my intervals in that when I'm on my three minute intense Cardio it keeps me heart rate high on the full body weight moves. Actually, I've checked it on my HR monitor. Sometimes the weight interval is actually higher. So my HR is up the entire 50 minutes to an hour.

So interesting. Thank you for taking the time to post all that.

So beautifully written and bang on Nancy. I understand though Erika. How it feels to take emotions out on someone else. It feels awful. But you're not perfect and most importantly, your hating it and doing something about it, is what makes you a great mom.

Yes Lyz - you're right. I forgot to add that I'm absolutely consistent with exercise. Fortunately for me - I love it.

But I have watched, I Can Make You Thin, and there are people who focus on eating consciously, don't exercise like me and do get to their goals. So it does happen.

I was already on my eating decision for years when I saw it but it made me think "okay" when I saw it.

The exercise isn't really weight loss for me although I'll take it and it helps for sure. It's all about my mental health. It really makes a difference. And I have to watch it - my mental health. I gave away a lot of years because I had an aversion to meds - never took them - and gave away years. Years. That's sad. But happy to be out. And grateful.

Nancy - I got tired just reading your training session!

My kids will tell you that when I go grocery shopping I don't buy food. I buy ingredients! (their opinion, not mine) They always complain that there is nothing to just EAT...they have to "make" everythng first

That is such a good compliment to you, even though they are complaining.

Hi gang - I am hating the fact that I can't post during the day anymore. I feel so out of the loop. I am thinking of you all though, so bare with me as I try to figure out a way to catch up.

Yeah, that blows.

My kids totally eat spaghettios! I am not Cruella de Mom, after all. It is not often, but if I am feeling lazy and don't want to make a real lunch...yup, they come out.

Suprised me!

Bocas...I think Lyz asked. I pan-fry mine (no thawing) with non-stick spray.

Sounds foreign to me. To put a frozen patty in the pan. But I'm totally going to try. And the onions. MMMMMM.

Ha. Love that your little one is a rule enforcer! Hi Lar Ious! Let's call her a Leader, not Bossy.

Good morning everyone! I tried to catch up but failed miserably. I hope you all forgive me. I have just been stupid busy lately with Mike gone all hours and 2 kids running every way but Sunday, it has been a little hectic here.

So "get" that. Somedays you just can't do everthing. (Although it sounds like your trying.)

Better news still! It's sunny this morning! What a way to get in a good mood quickly! :cheer2:

Word. Sunny here too.

I We leave on Sat, probably at about 5-6AM. The thought originally had been to extend to Friday, but we decided against the extra day's expense. I finally made him see the light that getting up at like 3 and then getting to the resort and napping sort of defeats the purpose. It does make sense on weekdays, as you beat what passes for rush hour traffic here, but on a random Sat in Jan, not so much.

Sat night we are staying at CSR (got a $100 AP rate!), and Sun-Wed nights at SSR in a studio. We leave for home on Thursday. Right now the dinner plans are Sat Biergarten, Sun Le Cellier, Mon Raglan Road, Tue San Angel Inn, and Wed Maya Grill.

None are new, but San Angel and Maya Grill have considerably changed their menus. I didn't like San Angel the only time I have done dinner there, but that was in '06 so I am giving it another try. D loves the ambiance in there.

Agree with the ambiance in Mek-e-co. Love reading the details. Kat have you been to DL? The Pirates ride has a restaurant ambiance ride also. We didn't eat there, but will.

Great. Now I have some twisted version of Rick Springfield running thru my head. "I wish that I were Jesse's girl....where can I find a trainer like that?" :lmao:

Thanks, now I do too.

I hate it when I do that too. BUT. Word.

Working in the office today. Busy. And Reading. Allison is doing ok today. Still in pain, but able to sleep.
