In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

The Great Milk Debate....

I will type out my rationale tomorrow, but just look at the label differences. You get NO measurable benefit from whole milk, but you get LOTS of extra far and cholesterol.

Kelly aka Bella - there is no better nickname then Bella, is there? Nope. It's the best nickname. Because not even the Queen gets Edward. And Prince Philip seems nice but he's too old. I love your admitting to the tin diving. I ate those ginger snap cookies today. Oh, yum.

This is true, Bella is the best nickname. Prince Philip is cool, but not my type! I have to admit to the tin diving, I think its the only way to shame me into stopping!

Kelly--love having you here. You fit in so perfectly! You are our brand of crazy! :rotfl2:

I Love it here! I like crazy, crazy is good!

:lmao: (Is it sad I wish I had a bandit filling my tin of sin?)

I hate the bandit. But I also love the bandit. Its a no-win situation! :rotfl: Im angry when the tin is refilled because it tempts me, but im also angry when the tin is empty! :rotfl:

I'd love to join your group. I need all the support I can get to lose a lot of weight.
I'm looking forward to a great year. I have many goals other than my weight goal to achieve. Hope I can do it.

Welcome! Im new here too, its a great group! You CAN do it!

Ok, the venting part. Last night when I had to talk with two employees, one lied to me. She was a temp and the lie was bad ~ very bad. I think you can figure out what happened. Tough day.

Sorry you've had a bad day. Congratulations on the promotion though!

UPDATING IN PROGRESS:

VOUME 1

Ok, I glanced at this part and read it as 'Vomiting in Progress' :rotfl:
Don't ask - who knows how my mind works!

Then we have our 20-somethings of Sarah and Stacey and I think Kelly, right?

Yep indeedy.
Actual age: 27
Exercise age: 97
Mental/humour age: 7 :rotfl:

Ok. Im at home today - I have no heat :headache:
So, ive had to take a holiday from work and Im sat in the cold waiting for the plumber to come...again. So now I have a cold, a hole in the wall and no heat! :lmao:

Honestly, I would cry but im scared the tears will ice to my face - so I'll laugh instead! It would be tragic if it wasn't so funny - im sat typing in my clothes, dressing gown, thermal socks and gloves! :lmao:

Ok, so I love Maine and all. But really, we do have our share of toothless, cousin-marrying, white trash. :lmao:

Hey, stop talking bout me like that....:lmao:

Okay, Jillian. "When your lips turn blue, then you're going to pass out. But you're not going to die." That's so wrong! But funny.

Jillian is a girl after my own heart. Currently working with 13/14 yo girls. No slack....

Oh and one more tid bit. Hubs decided he wanted to lose weight with me. Like last time. I lost 70. He lost, must have been close to 100. A whole person out of our bed. We were successful together. And so that's good news. BUT. It really ramps up my pressure. He's only gained back 30 and he'll lose it like, poof, that. See what I'm saying? This is good pressure, I know, but pressure none the less.

You need to look at this realistically. Men lose weight faster than women because of their genetic make up and the way they are wired to store fat. He will lose faster but you will make it up in the long haul.

Okay, so now I am the oldest person here...sigh...I did to the Real Age test and it came back that I was the age equivalent of 34. Does that count???

Real versus not real food: What this boils down to is coming to terms with your decision to eat or not eat the food. You have to own it and not punish yourself for it. Decide what you are going to eat/drink and deal with it. There, you have seen my inner Jillian now.

No work for me today except cleaning (as earlier stated) and the kids are out of school. We are in the 6" to 10" of snow range with minimal icing. E, you are supposed to get more ice than us. You got school?????

I also did the Discovery Health BMR and it calculates out to 1342.4. Not sure where I can get that extra .4 but I may try. My fitness charts calculate me out higher but I may try this for a week and see what results I get. :scared:

Ice=no school today. :mad:

E, I am 33 now and D is 38.

My bio age is probably like 90.

Ummm..do you skate with a walker? A quad cane? :confused3 You are SO not 90

Ok. Im at home today - I have no heat :headache:

oh no! Not again  Hope it gets fixed right this time!

Gotta *skate* out to the barn to take care of the animals.... it's NASTY out there today

Sorry to have run away so abruptly last night. Started into a sneezing fit and haven't really stopped. I feel so bad today ~ severe medicine hangover. I hope it's just allergies, but I have no idea what allergy it would be.

We have a dusting of snow on the ground, but school is still on! Woo Hoo! Hopped on my favorite author's site and looks like she is going to have quite a few more books coming out.

Good morning everybody stateside :wave2:

Good afternoon all of UK friends :wave2:

As promised, I did my weigh in. I decided to change from Friday to Wednesday since I might need something to look forward to mid-week. It's official! I have to change my siggy again to reflect....

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

:wishforty

41 pounds to be exact ~ since July 18th. Ok, that's was the most excitement I can muster. Gotta get motivated, so I make it to pre-school with my DD on time.

Ugh! Need better meds...

I'm expecting at least 5 more pages when I get home ladies. :rotfl2:

I'd love to join your group. I need all the support I can get to lose a lot of weight.

Welcome...gld you did make it here...now you must stay!
I'm looking forward to a great year. I have many goals other than my weight goal to achieve. Hope I can do it.

You can and you will...if you want it...has to come from you...

Okay...I feel like I started a war with the whole milk controversy...but hopefully the result will be more education around the topic and any information about health is great...always food for thought on changing things around...if things are not working for you currently or you want to try something different...

I just want anyone reading this and not posting because they feel intimadated to know that we all do care for one another...that because we care we are passionate...so don't be afraid to post...we will always support you...we just may be on a different path to weight loss and that does not neccesarily mean we are not running parallel...just different...

Kinda like Jillian vs Bob...everybody has there preference....

I....I am a Bob lover...I like Jillian...but she would break me...and I might not resurface...I can't promise you that I would...

I agree with the consensus from last nights posts as well...it made me sad that 9 left already...Nancy you are right - we will have to see how it turns out...

Jerry - the old guy....broke my heart...he is the replica of my grandfather in looks and mannerisms and love for his wife...

The kids....all had their jaws drop when they saw him...and Carsyn and I...cried when his wife had to leave...

And Baylor....who is so funny I would like to die sometimes...when the two larger silver team ladies were the only ones to feud over who was leaving because they both thought they should stay...

Said when the one who left told the other one...we are BF and I better be back....

"Yeah....I have Shaquavious on my speed dial and if YOU DON"T make it...you will not be in my top 5."

Literally laughing till I cried...

(For anyone not getting those commercials...it is a cell phone company who has 5 numbers you can call and have no charges for calling...kinda like a family plan but you do not have to be on the same plan.)

Okay...will post my food for yesterday in a bit...so far water and scrambled eggs for B-fast...

Lyz - I did the link you did...it said I should be at 1849 or under...so I now am guessing around 1300-1600 range is optimal for loss...but again...need to see how my body does...

I might head over to spark people and snoop...it might help me keep track of my calories better...

Heading to the Y by myself today...1st time ever....and may go again with Carsyn later...holy cow...what am I thinking...:scared1:

Whoo freakin hoo!!!! Forty pounds lost... that is huge!!!! Congrats girl. Gotta celebrate that with some dancing :dance3: :worship: :woohoo: :dance3:

Keep going. We will help you stay motivated. This bunch kept me on track for what felt like forever when I was losing my mojo and I am still here and losing again (thank you god!!!).

Congrats!!!!

Paula

OK - my day is going to be an odd one. The Governor of NY is giving his annual State of the State address today and the building will be a zoo with all the people that come to watch. Add in the 2000 protesters that are expected to march on the Capitol and it should be an entertaining day. On the plus side, there are no contractors on site so I can finally catch up on some of my paperwork (otherwise I may be forced to kidnap Lyz to help me).

Everyone, make good choices today and I'll check in when I can.

Paula

This is amazing!!! So great....and thanks Paula for posting your response...it is so easy to miss something when we are all posting at the same time...and youthink nothing has been added since you last read....

This one was too fantastic not to recognize!

Nice Job   That is something to be really proud of.

Good luck with that. :scared:

I'm having a hard time getting moving this morning. The weather is crappy, the kids are still in bed...I *should* get on the treadmill but have no "oomph" this morning

umm...should we be worried that we haven't seen Steph & LisaV? :confused3 Come out, come out whever you are

So Im still waiting for the Plumber to come - the Landlord just called, hopefully he'll be here today if not he will definitely be here before...Monday  Not good!

So while I was waiting I decided to check out the TV listings, because new series of my favourite programmes are starting! :woohoo:

Let me break it down for you - Yes, I know I am very behind on these series compared to my US friends!

Saturday - CSI New York. Whats happened to Mac, will they get the bad guy, have they changed the theme tune again!

Monday - 24. Jack Bauer. Enough said.

Tuesday - CSI Las Vegas. Is Warrick dead. How long will Grissom stay for. Will Sarah Sidle come back to 'comfort' him.

Thursday. Er. Last series. Will George Clooney make an appearance. Who dies in the ambulance explosion.

I know what you are thinking - enough already, get off your lazy bummocks and do some exercise instead of watching TV. Fear not my goddess friends, I have a cunning plan

Instead of laying on the settee in my pyjamas eating chocolate while I watch the programmes, why dont I bring the cross trainer into the living room and exercise on it while I watch the programmes. Each episode is an hour long, so BLAM - thats an hour exercising without even missing a beat! :cool1: Plus, the season premiere of 24 is 2 hours long so I can guarantee you 5 hours minimum of exercise!

adsrtw - :woohoo: Congratulations! 40lbs is amazing!

Morning!

Yes, a snow day here as well. Kids are home. All ice.

Leaving now, though, to take the dog to the vet (with 3 kids in tow). The dog is SO SO sick. Really sad and I am concerned. It is going to be tricky getting a work-out in today. May have to take the kids to the gym with me. They don't need the child care attendant per se, they can just hang out in the kid care room. (It is a super tiny gym, so I can see them and they can see me from wherever I am in the gym. They just get BORED. And when bored, they fight. I have been embarrassed at the gym more than once before.)

AIMEE!
40 pounds is AWESOME! Good for you! Um....GODDESS CROWN for you! I think this is your first, yes?

Dawn
--not sure what you meant above, but I don't see anything nasty in the milk debate. Personally, yes, I think drinking whole milk is crazy :rotfl2: but then most of you all think that I am the crazy one! :lmao: And at some point, yes, I will actually post my thoughts on why I think the way I do. I think some folks will find it interesting....really made me open my eyes the first time I researched it.

Paula
--hope you manage ok today! I love that you work in the capitol!

LisaPR/Nancy--let's all try to stay sane together with this snowday...only 2 DAYS after vacation ended!

Kelly--ugh! What a day! Hang in there.

Amy/Nancy/others--I will keep updating the cast list, but gotta deal with the dog and other life issues first. Sorry about ages and such.

hey. TOTALLY not complaining on the "Underaging of Me"...;)

Good luck today....and be safe!

Morning Ladies and Dan!

So we have a SNOW DAY here in NY! We are getting 6-12" and the snow isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow sometime.... I heard! The school started something new this year (which I totally love) instead of the parent waiting or watching and waiting for the school to come around on the new / radio, The school does a mass calling, so at 6 am I was notified that due to bad weather there would be no school! I promptly heard the recording and went back to sleep!

I made Stephen hungry at 330 this morning! I made spaghetti sauce last night at midnight and put it into the crock pot. I heard him sniffing the air this morning and I immediately thought of a fire but he said what smells so good! Ah spaghetti sauce! The kids are enjoying the smell to!

Paula I had on my ANGRY EYES at work yesterday! We have a girl that has been taken out of work for 15 days and they NEVER found a replacement for her! So we were going to be short handed and I asked boss to talk to her and she said "can't it wait?" I said NO it can't! IS there a replacement? She looked at me and said I haven't found any on as of yet.. I said when did you think to look for someone at 8 tonight when the shift ends! I wasn't a happy camper! Then I went to another superviser and complained to him! He managed to snagged a day shift Tech and have them stay till 8 and then one of our techs worked with me up in the front!

Lyz _ soda, games, Tv ...... Yeah Same here! With Zac with the diabetes there isn't much for him to drink without having to have a shot so we have sugar free kool aid a lot. And diet soda! I limit the diet soda though! Only because they drink it like water, so it is usually for special occasions! Or if we go out for dinner or something! I on the other hand need my COKE Zero Daily ... I only have one or two a day and drink ( well try to ) water. Otherwise I don't drink anything at home. I can go almost all day without drinking! I don't care for the taste of the water here in town, I may look into getting on of the water coolers, I think we would all drink more if we had that!

Liz - glad to hear that all is going well for Jodi! We had a similar thing in the family a few months ago, my cousin was told that she was having twin and after about 20 weeks they told her that there was a serious problem with one twin. He was about 3 -4 week behind the other one. They figured he was down syndrome and would have a lot of health problems. She delievered at 32 weeks and the smaller of the tins only lived for a few hours but I saw Evan yesterday at the doctors and he is striving he is up to 6 pounds now from the two he was born at! I swear it looked like a doll in the car seat! A big comparison to my BIG kids! So tell Jodi that our prayers are with her for this baby!

Nancy- hows that hip hop video? I told you that I dvr'd it right ! I sat down to watch it and it was an infomercial on how to buy it! I am looking to get it through lime wire now! Hows your back feeling? After shoveling all that crap! OMG I can't believe people can let their barns go like that. A family friend used to pay me to come and clean there milk room and the milk pipes through out the barn for when they would have an inspection coming. I never thought of it till stephen started working on a farm and what I did for the friends once a year was done once a day at his farm! I used to have to take acid and scrub EVERYTHING! YUCK! :scared1:

Erika- I know that you said that you don't eat meat do the kids? They just had a segment on the today show about kids not eating meat by their own choice! Some eat just chicken and there was one girl that would only eat fish. I tried to watch the whole thing but my kids were screaming for breakfast.

Ok So I finally Finished all my Twilight books! Ok Erika I think you said you got mad at it at one point, which one? So I loved them and can't wait to start reading them again! I think they will make great pool books!

So as for Weight I am down .4 which isn't great but I will take the loss!

Ok off to the store to get stuff to make garlic bread and meatballs! Then I get to travel through the storm to go to work for 5 hours!:headache:

Steph - sorry to hear that you had to pull out the angry eyes, but admit it... aren't they are fun to wear???

Erika - keep us posted on the dog. That is never fun to deal with.

Off to a meeting. Ciao' for now.

Paula

What in the bloody hell (like my Brit reference Kel?) are you thinking drinking WHOLE milk!!! :scared1:

Unless you want your bummocks to DOUBLE in size, stay away from it like the ever-loving plague!

Don't tell me it is one of those "natural" things....(like eating the whole egg, etc.) cause while there is some truth to the egg issue, there are VERY few people on the planet who should be drinking whole milk. I can give the science here if needed, but have to go to the bus.

Another tip of the day since I am on this rampage...DON'T DRINK YOUR CALORIES. Juice is just sugar. And even milk has a ton of sugar in it (yes, really). WATER, green tea. Word.

I totally have to agree on this! Stephens Cholesterol was super high and we were drinking 2% and we changed to 1% and then to fat free and never noticed the difference and now he doesn't have any problems with his cholesterol. The kids got whole milk till they were two with the exception of tyler (he had soy) and then they went right to fat free! The only juice that we buy is OJ! And of course the juice boxes for zac's diabetic kit! But the kids don't drink those! Oj is only allowed in the morning with Breakfast! Other wise it would be gone in an hour! I also m buying the water packs from on of the juice box/pouch makers with has 5 cal and no carbs for them. they don't like water unless it comes in a fancy wrapper!

Morning!

Dawn[/B]--not sure what you meant above, but I don't see anything nasty in the milk debate. Personally, yes, I think drinking whole milk is crazy :rotfl2: but then most of you all think that I am the crazy one! :lmao: And at some point, yes, I will actually post my thoughts on why I think the way I do. E - I just was re-reading everything about yesterday and knew that my post created a lot of debate...

I think it is good debate. War was not the best term...debate was...and no there was nothing nasty at all...great info...that was why I was re-reading actually - to print info... and please post the rest of what you have...because I am not by any means educated in most things of health and wellness...

I like the pasion from everyone. Regardless of what it is about.

I just wanted to make sure that people knew...(some new lurkers that have pm'd me asking to join...wanting to know if it is too late etc...if there is only one weight loss venue people are doing...) That we all do care about weight loss...that this is a thread where people have their hearts in the right place...and even if there is a debate on a topic..pop, milk, carbs, meat, running, water aerobics... etc...we are helping each other by posting...

Not one of us is exactly like the other...in our lives, our professions, our excersize regiment and our diet....and that is okay...

We may come accross as a little intimidating to some newbies....sitting on the fringe...wanting to join...but I hope as some of our more recent members can attest to...

That we are an accepting board...that we want the common goal here to be weight loss...healthy living...and giving better bodies to ourselves and for ourselves...and our families.

I forget sometimes how well some of us who have been on here for a year, know each other...and because of that...I know that anything anyone has said here..for feedback...comes from love...nothing more...

I just want to make sure that everyone else out there...knows that too...we are a family here....and families hold up the mirror for each other...esp. when they think they are hurting themselves...or can help one another by life experiences and motivation...

I know that there are plenty of lurkers out there that are sitting on the edge of joining...making a life commitment to a better them...and I want them to know...that this is the best place for that support to make that change...to jump over that line...and be the best that they can be...

So come on in...make today be your day...

And E - hope the puppy is okay...

We have not had a snow day guys...in 2 years...the kids keep saying they want to take the keys from the plows...because all the towns around ours have had them...just not us...city spent more on sanders and plows than any other in the state...yeah for moms...not for kids...
