In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Oh, and I should mention since she won't. LIZ. Her daughter Emily--who is 4 years old mind you....just got her first Vera Bradley purse. Ya, I know. :rolleyes1

Spoiling the surprise of the adorable picture I was going to post!

Hmm. Well, now I'll just have to explain that my mom bought it for her and that my FAMILY is insane and leave it at that.

PS I am buying myself a new one for the trip!

Ok, behave while I go spin, will ya?

Wow - so much to read!! I will catch up soon..It's so great to see the rapport in this group - Liz was right...this is a great place.

A great place is a good way to put it... we like it here....:goodvibes

Paula - constructions mgmt scares the bejezus out of me! You must be a strong woman! Managing 1 contractor is about all I can deal with right now. Our firm usually does commerical work (mostly libraries) but we seem to have a flood of residential at the moment (which I prefer). Looking forward to swapping recipies!

CM work isn't so bad on most days.... especially when you have a good set of angry eyes to put on when things get tough... I am usually mile mannered and easy going with a high tolerance for things, but when I lose my temper, people stand up and take notice and it usually only happens once. Some of the contractors have nicknamed me the closet pit bull because they never see it coming... Besides, I love a good challenge... I work in large scale commercial work primarily. Right now I am working on multiple projects at the NYS Capitol including rehabbing their roof. The interior work is fascinating though with all of the historical finishes... We can start the cookie debate once I get my Christmas baking game face on... Anyone want to help bake 50 dozen cookies....

Ok...time to read more...I will get a grip on this eventually.
Hope eveyrones heads are feeling better! I'm all too familiar with the pain in the head.
Val

Oh, and I should mention since she won't. LIZ. Her daughter Emily--who is 4 years old mind you....just got her first Vera Bradley purse. Ya, I know. :rolleyes1

About time...

Liz - I already bought mine for the trip.... I am loving the new resort collection in the Mediterranian blue and white... I even converted my sister...

OK - off to get some work done...

Have a great day everyone and I'll check in a little later...
Paula

HI - all - have read and caught up...will try and proper post later to reply to everyone but I am just emotionally bancrupt right now...

I have been posting more of a blog on the site of Coping/Compassion here...read for details...I was worried about monoploizing this weight loss thread with so much sad news...

Basics...Baylor was in the tub for over an hour while the 2 other boys argued over whether to call for help or not...the homeowners son played Nintendo while Baylor was in the tub crying...washed his pants trying to cover up the fact he brought gas to the bon fire pit...fire marshall said yeterday that they are lucky there wasn't an exlosion from the vapors when the washer started...

I am really struggling on what to do with a lawsuit past the point of the insurance because it will probably not cover everything...

I still have no internet at home - went to coffee shop at 6 am to catch up on all of you....

But the good news in all of this....

Baylor is home finally....

late Wed night..but had a hard day yesterday....

Will be back here later and post more - I'll try and call some of you later...

Dawn! Gosh I didn't realize it all took so very long. It seem faster than that. 2 hours!

So glad Baylor is home. I'd be scared, but it's probalby where he wants to be.

Have you told them about Disney yet?

Dawn - I am so glad you guys are still going on the trip. It's been a hard year, and how great a surprise this is for your kids.

The whole thing is awful, but I am glad Baylor is on the mend.

Sorry to intrude but I wanted to pop in and say best wishes to your family and I am sending happy thoughts for Baylor. This has been a tragedy and he has been such a trooper. You, Dawn, are a true tribute to motherhood. I applaude your sacrifices and caring. The whole story makes me want to cry.

I am glad to hear that the trip is still on. I think it will do you and Baylor a world of good. I hope all continues to go well for him. :flower3:

Liz - our eloquent writer always has the right words when you need them... amazing...

Aww, thanks, honey.

Lyz - I am loving your dedication to yourself right now... exercise, watching the food thing... you are gaining some serious momentum... loving it...

Me, too! Go LYZ!!!

Val - OK - you speak my language, an interior designer, a baker and a scrapbooker... love you already and I hardly know you... I am an architect by education so I get your language and I bake... can't wait to swap recipies... I work in construction management now... I can also relate to the being off my game for a while but not really gain anything. The last year has been one long funk for me and I am finally (thank you god) starting to see forward progress again. Hang in there... we will all get to where we want to be...

It has, Paula but you stuck with it. Which is awesome!

Okay, jeans. Ladies. Listen to Nancy. Listen to Amy. Listen to me! When you wear your jeans on your hips they are infinitely more flattering. No, they do not suck in the tummy. But, they do not create the muffin top. Try Kohl's - they have these Lee jeans with tummy sucking that go up to size 20 and really do look good on you ladies with the skinnier legs. They are more of a midrise. You will not have to yank them up. Me, I can't wear them. For us pears, try the Apt 9 ones and the Lee midrise bootcut. Again, not yanking and up to a size 20, and in the store!

Sarah - super cool about you Disneyland Magic!!!

Steph - the thought of you guys exercising in pirate gear is hilarious. Thanks, Lyz, for that! And we need more pics of your house!

Kat - let us know how your kitty does, okay?

Lyz - I would have gone with the strep shot, too. Why not???

CARDS Yes to cards. i don't send them a lot, but they do mean something. I hang onto mine as touchstones, discard or save as I need to, and they are tangible unlike an email. Think about your favorite book. There are many you read and pass on, but the one you love, you keep. It has meaning even though it's just paper, because it represents ideas and thoughts. You can even get a new copy, but just like we need human touch, I think sometimes we need to hold onto something in our hand.

Amy - Nicely done on the wog!

Nancy - loving the drinking. How is Our Town coming? Are you packing for Cancun yet??? Also, impressed with the running. Haven't gotten my self back there yet.

Wow - so much to read!! I will catch up soon..It's so great to see the rapport in this group - Liz was right...this is a great place.

And by the way Liz - that's for your praise...I wish everyone on the board could see the face of our WW leader Julie, when Liz walks in the door on Wednesday mornings. Her mouth drops open. Sometimes I don't even recognize her. She changes every week! I think the people that are really losing in that group are doing so in part because of Liz's enthusiasm and weekly contributions to the group. She is amazing!!!!
Val

Okay. I think Val exaggerates here. What she means to say is, I can't shut up in the WW meeting. Thankfully, we have a friend Amy who can't shut up either. Also, Val neglected to mention that I hit her if she doesn't speak up. Aren't I sweet?

Steph -- LOVE Pampered Chef. I have some microwave plastic steamer pots that I adore. I used them at least twice a week to steam veggies.

You love Pampered Chef? You, of the party-hating variety??? :rotfl:

Val, I can totally see Liz lighting up the room at a WW meeting. I can't wait to meet her.

THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!

Exercise, 40 min on the arc trainer (no hands Liz!!), 30 crunches on the weight-bench ab crunch, 30 on the oblique ab machine (the one that swings).

That no hands thing scares me! :scared1:

Look at Val! Waking up the thread and everything! ;)

Another busy and rushed day today! Back up to campus for me (third time in one week and that never happens) for yet another meeting. Then I have to clean my house at some point because the girls each have a playdate coming over, and you know I can't let their moms see my house in its "natural" state. :scared: Then of course, I still need 2 hours for that blasted long run. And it is raining. So even if I find the time today, it will be in the rain. At 45*. Not fun, but at least I have the podcast. (Yes, I save it for my long runs.)

Oh and I should mention the real stress of the day. Kel's friend that is coming over today. Her mother is my nemesis in town. SO not going to be comfortable. And of COURSE my kid would just HAVE to be best friends with her kid. That story is a story for another day.

Okay, why am i not surprised that you have a nemesis? Not because you're not sweet and nice, which you are, but because not only are you competitive and don't brook nonsense, you also totally call her that! LOVE it! I would say my arch enemy, but that's just me. ;)

First, I owe an apology to EriKa and Nancy. I tend to gloss over when I read your exercise. You guys push so hard and far that I just expect it now. (The newb reminded me inadvertantly.) And I don't say "Yaay" or anything, but when one of us mere mortals walks a lil ol mile - I'm all jumping banana. That's not right, and I'm sorry.

I do this, too. They could so kick my a$$, its not funny. But I should read better, too.

Ha that's so funny. Do you and Steph exercise in character? oh and EriKa's "camp" house, 250' Bigger than my everyday house!

Priceless!

About time...

Thank, you Paula A girl's gotta have the right bag!

Liz - I already bought mine for the trip.... I am loving the new resort collection in the Mediterranian blue and white... I even converted my sister...

Okay, see this is why I love you. Not only do you get it, you're already ahead of the curve!

Back from the gym, only one hour today. Off to do some VB shopping and have lunch and pick up the kiddo!

Budget Board. I check it daily around the holidays. I find tons of gift savings there.

3/4 years ago, when ipod shuffles were $100, I got mine for $69 from a tip there.

Couple years ago, on Thanksgiving night, right after midnight, I learned you can buy many of the Black Friday Sale Items from Walmart ONLINE! Right then I bought 2 name brand digital cameras for $88 (each) for christmas gifts. (Oh and a video camera for me.)

Anyhoo, thought I'd share.

Thanks for the tips! You know I don't pay retail! Ever.

Spoiling the surprise of the adorable picture I was going to post!

Don't think this gets you out of posting a pic. It so doesn't.

HI - all - have read and caught up...will try and proper post later to reply to everyone but I am just emotionally bancrupt right now...

SO glad to hear that he is home. Keep us posted as you can.

:flower3:

LISA! You are never an intruder here! We have missed you! Hope all is well. Do you have your marathon count down going?

Okay, jeans. Ladies. Listen to Nancy. Listen to Amy. Listen to me! When you wear your jeans on your hips they are infinitely more flattering. No, they do not suck in the tummy. Totally agree. I wear a mid-rise and low-rise style. Boxy cut shirt not tucked in.

Nancy - loving the drinking. How is Our Town coming? Are you packing for Cancun yet??? Also, impressed with the running. Haven't gotten my self back there yet.

Oh! I missed that this year's show was Our Town. LOVE that play. "Take me back, up the hill, to my grave..." (Yeah, I played Emily. Still remember the monologue. :rotfl2: ) Yes, we want updates. Are your fingers bleeding yet?

That no hands thing scares me! :scared1:

SUCK IT UP!

Okay, why am i not surprised that you have a nemesis? Not because you're not sweet and nice, which you are, but because not only are you competitive and don't brook nonsense, you also totally call her that! LOVE it! I would say my arch enemy, but that's just me. ;)

And she SO is a nemesis. Definitely the right word. At some point I will type if out, but it is a lot. Let's just say that she has no idea about the Sisterhood. Wish me luck.

I have had a crap-fest of a day (just with work and Jeff making a rude comment to me) so I have been on an "I hate men" rant. Not sure if I have mentioned it, but I work with all men. I am the only woman on my faculty and we had a meeting that took all morning. So those men, combined with my own one male, had me seriously contemplating switching teams earlier today.

But then Liz came up with a PERFECT alternative. More on that later.

It is pouring rain here, I have kids coming over in about an hour and half and still haven't run. Which means no long run again today. I will get in a short run, I guess and try to pick it up tomorrow. It is totally stressing me out that I haven't done my long run in over 2 weeks now.

Kat - let us know how your kitty does, okay?

..

That no hands thing scares me! :scared1:

..

Back from the gym, only one hour today. Off to do some VB shopping and have lunch and pick up the kiddo!

Kitty is out of surgery and has done well. Now for the week or so of confinement. With a husband who just doesn't understand that it is for her own good and will fight me on it at every turn. Joy.

I always do both elliptical and arc trainers with no hands. Helps balance, and plus I need my hands to read my book.

No gym for me today I don't think... have to leave work at 4:30 to go pick up kitty. I did do hockey Monday and gym Wed/Thur, and am planning to go tomorrow...

Hi Ladies,

quick check in...must get off the computer and finish packing!!! DD and I fly out tomorrow morning to Albany. I am dreading the almost 50 degree temperature change. :scared1: :scared1: It is almost 90 here today.

Speaking of saving $$$, Our targets are having an additional 30% off clearance clothes. I got jeans ( size 12 and low waisted of course) for 14.00 and a few shirts for 4.00 each. Since I am tall, I struggle to find shirts that are long enough. I hate the ones that are only long enough if I don't pick my arms up at all. also found my niece some legging pants for 66 cents and a hoodie to go with for 3.00. :woohoo:

I hope to get in some pilates later tonight.

So I can come out now and say I was thinking about getting DD a little VB purse. She loves to play with my java blue wallet.

Dawn, so glad to hear that Baylor is home. :goodvibes

Later,
Amy

Hi Dawn - I am so new here but wanted to let you know the story in your post made me very sad. I wish your son a fast recovery from what must an extremely painful injury and I send my prayers to you and your family during this difficult time.
Val/NewB

First, I owe an apology to EriKa and Nancy. I tend to gloss over when I read your exercise. You guys push so hard and far that I just expect it now. (The newb reminded me inadvertantly.) And I don't say "Yaay" or anything, but when one of us mere mortals walks a lil ol mile - I'm all jumping banana. That's not right, and I'm sorry.

Val- are you joking with me? If not, I'll explain. I don't really work for VI - it's a joke. Vandelay Industries is from Seinfeld (George Constanza always used this name when he was lying about where he worked.)

Ha that's so funny. Do you and Steph exercise in character? oh and EriKa's "camp" house, 250' Bigger than my everyday house!

Congrats on the party. I love Pampered Chef. A local rep always has a booth at the Home & Garden Show that I committee on. She "gives" me a piece and a big ol discount for placing her in the same place each year.:yay:

Great job, so tempting!!!

So I went to bed early and laid there with a headache till 11:30. That was not my intent.

Off to the dreadmill. Catch you all on the other side.

Oh Lyz - yes, it was absolutely a joke:rotfl2: ...I know the episode - Art Vandelay, the importer. My old co-worker and I would remenisce about the old Seinfeld episodes and crack ourselves up. But, there really is a Vandelay Cafe in the next town over (Liz, on Broad in Red Bank)
Also, thanks for the tips about the boards...as soon as I figure out what I am doing here, I will explore...
Val/NewB

Yes, it's true. She hits me and mutters under her breath at me when I don't speak up. But truly, along with Amy, Liz makes a pretty hefty contribution to that meeting.
Can't wait to see the pic of your little girl with her stylin new bag!

Good luck with the nemesis - can't wait to hear the story and your tips and strategies for surviving!

Ooooh I love a good target deal!

Hey, who is on Facebook? Besides Steph, E, and Sarah. The rest of you?

Also, Amy, well done. Your doll certainly needs a Vera of her own!

LADIES - PLEASE! Us gals who can't get on-line at work are having trouble keeping up!

So - let me start here by saying, my headache was gone when I woke up this morning. (good news). Bad news? I feel like I've pulled EVERY MUSCLE in my back. I have absolutely NO IDEA WTH is going on. I can barely move. First I figured I slept funny - and that it would work itself out. Went to the gym (supposed to be a strength day for me - NOT)....ended up on the elliptical for 25 min, then bike for 30....back still hurts. A lot.

Take 2 advil, go to work, limp thru the day. :sad1: more advil - Now I have a 4H awards night to go to - Potluck. Well guess what. I'm ordering pizza. (yes, I've finally decided that I can NOT do everything for everyone all the time....thanks Lyz!)

I'm honestly thinking that this whole headache/back pain is due to stress. My body always does something wonky when I'm stressed...

Steph -- LOVE Pampered Chef. I have some microwave plastic steamer pots that I adore. I used them at least twice a week to steam veggies.

I love Pampered Chef too. As a matter of fact, in a previous lifetime I was a PC Kitchen Consultant! (gave it up when I was pregnant with DD....)

Nancy, you sure are picking up our slack!!

Hey - what are friends for? :confused3 :rotfl2:

And duh...I finally found the 3rd post Lyz mentioned, with all the profiles. Oh happy day!! It's like the Rosetta Stone...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think the pirate paper get snaps on the kitsch factor...aagrh!

pirate: Gar 'matey. I be after your treasure chest :rotfl:

First, I owe an apology to EriKa and Nancy.

oh Lyz-thanks. I feel badly that you feel badly:hug: ...truth be told I am an exercise a-holic. I love working out (I know...freakshow). But my love affair with food and drink keeps me from seeing the results that I desire :confused3

Oh, and I should mention since she won't. LIZ. Her daughter Emily--who is 4 years old mind you....just got her first Vera Bradley purse. Ya, I know. :rolleyes1

I would expect nothing less! ;)

But the good news in all of this....

Baylor is home finally....

late Wed night..but had a hard day yesterday....

Will be back here later and post more - I'll try and call some of you later...

:grouphug: That is definitely good news. Prayers are still with you guys..

Nancy - loving the drinking. How is Our Town coming? Are you packing for Cancun yet??? Also, impressed with the running. Haven't gotten my self back there yet.

Well - OT is coming along nicely. I'm almost done with my portion of the costumes - just one really fancy-shmansy jacket to make...we had to take a little *creative license* and the director turned SAM (the city cousin) into SAMANTHA...so she has to have an appropriate outfit...

No, I haven't started packing for Cancun yet...I'll get there though....probably the day before we leave! but yes, my passport is ready and waiting, so that's all I really need, right? :confused3 (well, that and...a new purse? :rolleyes1 )

And she SO is a nemesis. Definitely the right word. At some point I will type if out, but it is a lot. Let's just say that she has no idea about the Sisterhood. Wish me luck.

ahhh...Erika and the nemisis.

Should make for good reading...

But then Liz came up with a PERFECT alternative. More on that later.

hmmm..talk about GOOD READING! :rotfl2:
.

OOPS...got someone here to breed a goat. yeah - animal sex. And we charge for it....and at that...I gotta run...

Ok, time to update on the nemesis situation.

Stacy, that is my nemesis, not the Stacey who posts here.

So I had a great idea. Instead of running around like crazy cleaning my house for her, I turned the tables.

I called her...sweet as pie, mind you...and said, "Gee, Stace, I have to go pick up Riley at his thing this afternoon, so why I don't I just drop Alaina off to you at your house? That way you don't have to make a special trip all the way across town." HA!

Now she is running like crazy since I will be showing up at her house. Goddess! Ok, an evil goddess. :)

At least that is what I thought earlier in the day. Then the following situation happened, which gave me my lesson for the day:

Evil Doesn't Pay!

OMG, did I get screwed! So the girls get off the bus and we come into the house. I made chocolate chip cookies and had other snacks, etc. Kel says that Alaina wants to call her mom. No problem. Well, Alaina burst into tears as soon as she starts talking with her mom. Not sure why. I get on the phone with Stacy, my nemesis.

She says that Alaina is really upset about something but she doesn’t know what. While on the phone, Stacy asked Alaina if she wanted to come home or stay and play at my house. Alaina says that she wants to stay and play but she wants her mom to be there as well. I get on the phone with Stacy who tells me what Alaina wants. What could I say? “Of course, come on over. We’ll just hang out while the girls play.”

So not only does she have to be IN my house (which I ended up not cleaning to perfection once I *thought* I had turned the tables), but I actually had to entertain her for like an hour and a half. PAINFUL.

So, now I am drinking. Natch.

FOOD:

Bfast - small apple (40)
Snack - fiber one (140)
Lunch - veggie sandwich (200)
Snack - raw cookie dough (200) yes, you read that right.
Dinner - tuna on lettuce with some whole grain crackers (200)

Total = 800 calories

So since I am low, I am drinking the rest of my calories for the day. Sorry Amy and Kathryn. I am on the wagon...just not THAT wagon. :lmao:

Exercise - NONE (yes, you read that right as well)

My day was really hard and really long and really hellish and I am super pissed that I didn't get in ANY work-outs. But my day was chopped up so that my free time was only in 20-minute chunks here and there. I just got the kids to bed at 9pm. I thought about doing a workout at home, but I am wiped PLUS I still have so much work to do.

So once again, the Long Run gets pushed off and it is stressing me out like no other.

And LYZ--don't apologize for not mentioning my exercise. Like Nancy, I am a freakshow about it. And really, if I didn't work...it would be like 3 hours a day. I just like it. Sometimes I don't even post it because I don't want to sound like (1) I am bragging or (2) make others feel like it is some standard that they should strive for. It is just part of who I am and always have been. I am a jock from way back.

Oh Lyz - yes, it was absolutely a joke:rotfl2: ...I know the episode - Art Vandelay, the importer. My old co-worker and I would remenisce about the old Seinfeld episodes and crack ourselves up.
Val/NewB

Valnewb - I am in love with you! We speak the same language. And you made it here just in time for Festivus!

LADIES - PLEASE! Us gals who can't get on-line at work are having trouble keeping up!

Um, some of us have to sit at a computer and not behind a lovely mound of pie dough.

I'm ordering pizza. (yes, I've finally decided that I can NOT do everything for everyone all the time....thanks Lyz!)

YES! You know my body rebels when I'm stressed too. I'm usually sick at Christmas. Not this year puppies.

pirate: Gar 'matey. I be after your treasure chest :rotfl:

Hi Lar Ious!

OOPS...got someone here to breed a goat. yeah - animal sex. And we charge for it....and at that...I gotta run...

I believe that makes you a pimp.

Ok, time to update on the nemesis situation.

I want more than an update. I want the story. Now I can wait three weeks, but it's gonna hurt.

So not only does she have to be IN my house (which I ended up not cleaning to perfection once I *thought* I had turned the tables), but I actually had to entertain her for like an hour and a half. PAINFUL.

So, now I am drinking. Natch.

That is TOO funny!

Ok so I am off target today for eating. I just couldn't take it. I needed real food. I am moving on. Tomorrow will be fine. I can only take so much diet food.

Liz - where is my haystack tutorial?

Valnewb - I am in love with you! We speak the same language. And you made it here just in time for Festivus!

WOO HOO! A Festivus for the Rest of Us! This is my language, too! Now Val...since you speak the same language as me and Lyz, we must talk about the podcast....

I believe that makes you a pimp.

Notice how I left this one completely alone??? GOAT PIMP! Hi lar ious! Another Tag Fairy moment! Man, Nancy is lucky that the TF doesn't hang here. This is like the 3rd or 4th one that would be totally hysterical for her.
