In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Mile 13 - this one is for me. I will likely take my iPod off here and just experience this last mile. Thinking about where I came from...and where I have yet to go.

The song that always gives me that last "oomph" that I need is Tina Turner's "Simply the Best".

Good morning, all!

Happy Birthday to Liz and Abu! And my sister! Who's birthday is just 4 days before mine...

And today's a banner day here as well. For all those that follow aviation, which I realize is just me, Qantas takes delivery of their very first A380 super-jumbo jet today. That's 3 years of me in that there plane, because it was 3 years ago today that I started with this company to deliver that aircraft.

So - take a look at http://www.a380delivery.com/qantas/ if you have a chance. If you look at Episode 14, Cabin Installation, the beige seats and furniture are our stuff. Super First Class, because it's so much more than First Class. This seat does more than my dad's lazy boy! 84" bed...10-way massage...4-way lumbar...dining for 2...17" flatscreen...the seat has 8 independent motors. At 1:15pm EST, the delivery ceremony will take place, and while I may not be there (though my CEO is) I'll certainly be watching it on the internet. Fly away! In celebration of 3 very long years for me (and 40 lbs of weight gained) where work came first and family second (yes, that's changed now), I'm giving away little clip-on koalas today at work. My joke is that you can either cherish it as a memory or crush it under your heel!

Good morning!! :goodvibes

I just wanted to pop on and say:
1. Happy Birthday Liz!!

2. Best wishes to you Erika during the race tomorrow. I know you can do it, you just have to know that you can too. A 5K is hard, a 10K is work but a half is all upstairs, trust me. You can run the distance you just have to convince yourself of that. Around mile 10, it all comes together. You have a great musical plan and a terrific attitude. I hope you hook up with Joanne and if you do, give her a hug for me!!

Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

:cheer2: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ!!!! :cheer2:

I am so unbeliveably proud of you. Please, take a moment today to think on last year's birthday and how incredibly far you have come. Also, think of how many more birthdays you have added on to your life (and Em's) by doing this for yourself. You are truly a goddess and I am blessed to know you.

And Erika. You will do great tomorrow, I know it. You have come so far in your running journey.

I am glad to have found incredible women like you and really, truly, feel lucky to call you friends.

Okay, enough with the sap. Y'all caught me before my coffee. Ahem. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I am now down 6 lbs from my post-WDW high. I still have a ways to go before I can get back to where I was in late June, but I feel like I am getting to be on track.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Erika - I am so inspired by you.... you are going to be awesome in the big race. I can't wait to hear the stories afterwards. I won't be online for the better part of the day, but I'll be the one in your head telling you that you are strong enough!!!! You can do this!!!!!

So I am getting my iPod set up for the race and I got contemplative these past few days because this race is pretty emotional for me. (For a variety of reasons. I am running for the National Kidney Foundation and I raised money for the cause. Because I am in such a different place than I was 7 months ago when I started this, etc.) Anyway, I decided that I would set up my iPod so that every mile (11 minutes-ish) would be dedicated to someone or some part of my life. And the songs during that time would be reflective of that.

Here is what I have so far--

Mile 1- for Kelly. She is the reason I started all of this, so it only makes sense that she starts the race with me.

Mile 2 - for Cammie - no explanation needed, I am sure.

Mile 3 - for Riley - same.

Miles 4 & 5 - for Jeff. For all of the complaining and griping that I do about him, he is an excellent person. Truly one of the best I know. And the good in our lives FAR outweighs the bad. He is a great husband and father. Plus, I have a ton of songs that remind me of him, so he gets 2 miles.

Mile 6 - my parents. Because how else would I have gotten where I am today? They are so supportive of everything I do.

Mile 7 - old friends. I am middle-aged. That is still hard for me to believe. But in that time, I have had tons of friends. Really good ones. And although I may have lost touch with some, or only do the Christmas card thing with others, they are still my friends and I know that we could pick up in a heartbeat and it would be like we were never apart.

Mile 8 - the ocean. Ok, I know this sounds cheesy. But Marine life and research is a big part of who I am. Always has been. From living in Alaska to the Keys to getting ready to do my sabbatical in The Seas (no, this isn't definite)...it is just part of me.

Mile 9 - fitness & running. Before my "fat period" I was always thought of as a jock or a fitness freak or whatever. It was a huge part of my self-identity. And I lost it. And now it is back and I am so happy about that.

Mile 10 - Disney! This is another passion of mine. And again, I have great songs that go with this, so it gets a mile.

Mile 11 - Party time! Ok, the truth is that I am still a Party Girl at heart. Middle-aged or not. I love to have a great time, to tie one on, to dance till I can't move, to scream until I have no voice left. Plus, at this point in the race, I am going to need something like this! :lmao:

Mile 12 - You guys. The Board Babes. You are specifically at mile 12 b/c even though I had other reasons for starting this journey, there is no way I would have come this far without all of you. :grouphug:

Mile 13 - this one is for me. I will likely take my iPod off here and just experience this last mile. Thinking about where I came from...and where I have yet to go.

I would think the last mile would be the easiest?

You know I'm gonna ask. Cause I'm always do. What song is for us?

Don't let me get me?
Bootylicious?
Don't stop believen?
Eye of the Tiger?
FLAT Bottom Girls?
Family Affair?
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?
My Humps?
Stronger?

(wouldn't it be funny if I really guessed what you had for us)

Oh and another thing, I'm alittle irritated you didn't tell us you were running for NKF. I'm just sayin'.

ABU - Happy Birthday to you too. And let me tell you, you are a pirate in my head now, after all the pirate rag swirling around you.

Funny story about FLAT Bottom Girls... Last night I was layin in bed watchin CSI with DH and he was sitting up and put his feet on my butt like a foot stool and told me my butt lost too much weight and wasn't comfy anymore! LOL :rotfl:

DWD...:lmao: I am a pirate.pirate: Weds I hosted a pirate-themed storytime at our library, dressed in costume. Today, I talked like a pirate to DS's teacher as I dropped him off and drove home blasting one of the pirate-themed shows from "The Theme Show" podcast.

I just got back from making a total thrift score, too. :) For a buck twennyfive I was able to pick up:
A long, chocolate brown skirt that looks/feels almost like suede but isn't and has a Coldwater Creek label on the inside
black cotton ribbed tank with an Old Navy label inside
2 usable-for-projects cloth belts
2 usable-for projects denim miniskirts (I make purses out of them and plan to open my own store on Etsy eventually)
a black w/pink roses patterned maternity dress for my sister (who is about 5 mos pregnant w/#3)
a pink/red patterned maternity shirt for my sister
THRIFT SCORE! Yeah!:thumbsup2

Abu -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

Another Virgo to share a birthday month with... even if she is a pirate... arg...

Great job on the thrift store score... Sounds like you are having an awesome day already... Enjoy it...

Have a great day,
Paula

I am banking on the last mile being the easiest! It damn well better be!

Ok for my Board songs...(there are 3 b/c I need 11 minutes worth of music)

First up is Strangers Like Me (perfect, no?)
Then, yes, Fat Bottomed Girls (and do not take offense to this! :lmao: )
And finally, "That's what I like about you."

And by the way, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is on there...it is during Kelly's mile b/c we always joke that this is her theme song. So is Born to be Wild...hmmm...I should put that on there! And Eye of the Tiger is also on there, during the fitness mile.

And um, I just did tell you that this was for the NKF, mm-kay?

:cheer2: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ!!!! :cheer2:

DEFINITELY! Amen to that!

And Erika. You will do great tomorrow, I know it. You have come so far in your running journey.

Race is actually on SUNDAY. Mark it down everyone. I will need the good vibes on SUNDAY morning...from about 9 - noon.

I am now down 6 lbs from my post-WDW high. I still have a ways to go before I can get back to where I was in late June, but I feel like I am getting to be on track.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

WOO HOO for the 6 pounds gone! You'll be back where you were before you know it!

Thanks so much, Lisa! Yes, Joanne and I are in touch and are hoping to find each other on Sunday.

I know that this is a mental game at this distance, so I am trying really hard to get my head in the game (a nod to HSM....hmmm...maybe I put that on my iPod too! :lmao: ). My coach just e-mailed me a bunch of motivational reading, so I will go through that in these next couple of days.

Now or Never from HSM 3 is now on my workout mix as is Getcha Head in the Game... LOL

Well. I haven't seen the whole list. I'm certain there are some real duds in there.

And it's FLAT bottomed girls. Fat doesn't make any sense. Unless your a strung out musician.

Sorry, E. I just assume races are on Saturdays.

I put too much dressing on my salad. It is all gooey. Yuck.

Couple things.

-I have a patch of sunlight streaming into my office right behind me. It's landed on the floor, onto my chair roller plastic. It's so warm. I put my bare feet on it. Ohhh, so good. Now, all I want to do is turn around and warm up my feet.

-I am craving Kit Kats. It's my "fat me". Loving the fall air and seeing the Halloween displays in the stores. I feel so, um, full. Not full in heavy after eating too much, but full in the sense I love this time of year and everything that goes with it.

And kit kats seem to round out the bill. This is not normal. I'm not a kit kat girl, ever. It's the whole, trick or treating. When the good chocolate is gone and you settle for a kit kat. And you take a bite and think, "hmmm, I forgot kit kats were good." So then you have 5 more.

Or is this just me?

I do the same thing... I split a kit kat with DH a few weekends... lol... I love em... but not as much at Butterfinger Crisps...

OH!!! Butterfinger crisps. Killing me.

I hate fall. It means winter is coming. I despise winter. Winter means, not just gloom and cold, but also hide fat behind big sweaters and bulky clothing. And it means holidays are getting closer.

I need to move to FL where it is summer all the time. :)
