Is there still a in-flight restriction on electronics/blankets/books/magazines/anything on your lap? Or is it up to the individual flight/pilot? I don't want to carry stuff with me if I can't use it.

Thanks!

That has never been in place for flights within the US. It was in place for international flights to the US at some point, but I don't know the status of that now.

Thanks. It's been awhile since I've flown and I just remembered all the hooplah on the news after the Detroit incident.

The blanket/coat restriction only lasted a couple of days after the Christmas incident on the flight from Amsterdam.

Anything else has been the same restrictions now for awhile.

You can use your cell phone during boarding until the boarding door closes, and again after landing and the aircraft is off the active runway.

Electronics (anything with a battery) can be used during boarding and then after the aircraft is above 10,000 feet and at that time the flight attendants will make an announcement. ipods, laptops, cameras, pdas, e-books, small games etc are all allowed at that point and then required to be turned off (again another announcement) prior to landing.

These restrictions are all standard regardless of airline.

All of those electronics help me pass the time on a flight!

Going through security checkpoints you'll have to remove your laptop or DVD player or have the specific laptop bag. Small electrics (phone, ipod, DS etc) do not need to be removed from your bag.

Have fun!
